My Views on Credibility

Honorable teachers and dear friends, it’s my honor to stand here to give my presentation. My name is Li Hua, and I come from Class 1. Today, I’m standing here to show my views on credibility. Credibility, as we all know, is one of the most important quality a man should have. From Qin Dynasty when Shang Yang first stand the wood stick out of the Southern gate to the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia in 2014 which focus on the credibility of countries, we all have seen the unreplaceable role credibility is playing in the world. Without credibility, there would hardly be any order or discipline in the society. Credibility means the quality to be trust. If we lost credibility, how could we live in a world with no trust?

It was my own experience when I was in middle school. I was reading books in the library when I found a 1945-edition of Hamlet. It was so lovely that I decided to borrow it with no considering. But after a month when I was supposed to give it back to library, I hesitated. What if I just “lost” this book and cannot return to the library? And I was determined to do so, so I did so. But the next time I went to that library I felt so guilty that I cannot even move my body into the building. I feared to go to the library since then and I never really dared to go there. It was after 2 month that I found myself cannot bear the pressure to keep the book and I decided to send it back and pay the fine. But when I go to the library again, I found the library is going to move, and already closed. I never got a chance to return it back again.

I still keep that book now, and whenever I look at it, it reminds me to be honest and not to lose my credibility.

Nowadays, in the modern society, people are linked with their credibility everywhere. Credit cards, installments, commercial loans, modern people cannot even live without those things. We use credit cards to buy stuff, and we use loans to get an apartment to live. Herbert once said,” a man without credibility is dead in the society.” With the development of banking and technology, that become true.

So that’s my views on credibility. Credibility keeps the order of the society; credi bility helps us not to feel guilty; and more importantly, credibility helps us live a better life. In short, credibility makes us relieved and happy. Thank you.
