英文论文投稿时，有很多情况我们都需要与编辑老师进行沟通，必须经历从投稿、催稿、根据修改意见修改后再投、致谢等多个环节，现给大家介绍论文投稿时会用到的8类信件常用模板。
1. cover letter（投稿信）
SCI论文投稿时为了提高录用率，通常都会写一份cover letter。cover letter 的作用是有助于稿件被送到合适的编辑和评审人手中。如果没有cover letter，稿件可能会给编辑造成一些困扰：
?这篇稿件是投给哪种期刊的？
?何种栏目？
?是新稿还是修改稿？
?如果是修改稿的话，是哪位编辑负责的？
?如果这篇稿件有多位作者的话，哪一位是通讯作者？
?通讯作者的联系地址是什么？
因此，为了减少给编辑造成的困扰，一份合格的cover letter非常重要。
cover letter的内容必须能够激励编辑继续去读你的文章全文。因此，你工作中的重要内容（例如创新性和在研究领域的意义）需要在cover letter中呈现
出来。一般情况下，cover letter的长度在5段以内。太短不足以充分表达文章所做工作的重点内容，太长会让编辑感觉作者心虚。
一份cover letter通常包括的内容是：
1. 向编辑简要介绍一下论文的内容和参与此项研究工作的作者名单。这里不需
要太详细，即使是工作中包含了一些复杂的实验部分。
2. 重点解释为什么该研究是创新性的，并且大家会对此感兴趣。
这里，你可以介绍论文中用到哪些创新性的技术，你的实验样本数量足够多，研究成果将对这个领域有较大影响等。如果你投的是临床国际期刊，你还要介绍这项工作会对将来的实际治疗应用有什么意义。
此处有2点需要你重点注意：
?写作时包含要点但不用仔细解释；
?尽量让编辑看到你的工作和所投期刊非常相关；
?最好，你的工作也刚好验证了别的研究团队在这个期刊前期发表的成果，或者与他们结果相反。
3. 介绍你和你的研究团队：主要研究人员、实验室的研究方向和这篇文章的关系。解释为什么要选择投这个期刊。如果其他实验室与你的研究团队合作完成此项工作，你最好也要介绍一下相关合作团队。
4. 声明你的文章没有任何利益方面的冲突。因为每个期刊有不同的相关规定，所以查询一下各个期刊在利益冲突政策方面的描述。同时，一定要声明这项研究没有在其他期刊投稿和发表过。
上面是写在cover letter中的要点，下面说一下有哪些内容不能写在cover letter中：
1. 不要在没有任何证明或引用情况下提及过去的发表文献。
2. 不要提供与投稿无关的个人信息。
3. 除非和这次的研究问题有关，否则不要提到您或者其他共同作者先前的发表记录。
4. 不要复制粘贴上摘要的内容。
5. 不要使用复杂发散的句构以免造成不必要的困惑。
下面我举3个成功的cover letter样式给大家参考：
例子1：投稿《欧洲心血管病杂志》
Dear editorial board of European Journal of Cardiology,
Please find enclosed the manuscript: “The angiotensin-converting enzyme is not a risk factor for myocardial infarction in French individuals”, by Sarah H., et al., to be submitted as a Short Communication to the European Journal of Neurology for consideration of publication. All co-authors have seen and agree with the contents of the manuscript and there is no financial interest to report. We certify that the submission is original work and is not under review at any other publication.
In this manuscript, we report the results of the first study on the genetic and functional roles of the ACE on the risk of suffering a myocardial infarction in the French population. Indeed, we genotyped the rs4341 polymorphism in 531 IS cases and 549 healthy controls, and then performed functional studies by measuring serum ACE protein level and activity in healthy controls, stroke patients at baseline and stroke patients 24h after stroke symptoms onset. The results from our study did not reveal any association of the ACE variant with myocardial infarction, although it affected ACE protein level, and ischemic stroke patients showed lower ACE level than controls in the acute phase but not in the chronic phase.
We believe that our findings could be of interest to the readers of European Journal of Cardiology because they bring new and strong evidence that the ACE gene and protein are not a risk factor for myocardial infarction.

3. 修改后投稿的cover letter（投稿信）
根据编辑部和审稿人的意见对稿件进行修改，完成后重新投稿时，也要附上一封cover letter，但是这封cover letter和刚投稿时的cover letter又不一样。Dear Dr/ Prof..（写上负责你文章编辑的姓名，显得尊重，因为第一次的投稿不知道具体负责的编辑，只能用通用的Editors）:

In this paper, we report an unexpected, acute effect of GDNF on A-type potassium channels, leading to a potentiation of neuronal excitability, in the dopaminergic neurons in culture as well as in adult brain slices. Further, we show that GDNF regulates the K+ channels through a mechanism that involves activation of MAP kinase. Thus, this study has revealed, for the first time, an acute modulation of ion channels by GDNF. Our findings challenge the classic view of GDNF as a long-term survival factor for midbrain dopaminergic neurons, and suggest that the normal function of GDNF is to regulate neuronal excitability, and consequently dopamine release. SCI论文投稿经验！ 2009年，我代表本课题组共投递7篇SCI论文（主要是生殖和神经方向），分别投往IF2.5—10分的杂志，经历了许多坎坷。不过，现在可喜的是已经accept了5篇，均在3分左右，revised 了2篇。在修稿和投稿过程中，本人学习了不少相关知识和积累了一些经验，现与各位战友 分享，并请大家批评指正。 内容清单： 1、本人2009年SCI投稿经验总结（含SCI投稿程序） 2、本版众多投稿相关精华帖汇聚 3、众多战友的2009年投稿经历汇总 一、本人2009年SCI论文投稿步骤及其经验总结 （一）投稿程序 1、选择合适的SCI期刊-Choose a journal。结合专业知识、2008或2007年度影响因子 表和他人经验来综合选择要投递的期刊，并进入该期刊查询系统查询近年来的文章走向。 2、下载Introduction for submission。只要到每个杂志的首页，打开submit paper一栏，点击Introduction查看或下载即可。 3、稿件及其相关材料准备-Preparation：Manuscript.doc、Tables.doc、Figures.tiff（jpg 等）、Cover letter，有时还有Title page、Copyright agreement、Conflicts of interest等。 4、网上投稿-Submit a manuscript：先到每个杂志的首页，打开submit paper一栏，先 以通讯作者的身份register一个账号，然后以author login身份登录，按照提示依次完成：Select Article Type、Enter Title、Add/Edit/Remove Authors、Submit Abstract、Enter Keywords、Select Classifications、Enter Comments、Request Editor、Attach Files，最后下载pdf，查看无误后，即可到投稿主页approve submission或直接submit it。 5、不定期关注稿件状态-Status：Submit New Manuscript、Submissions Sent Back to Author、Icomplete Submissions、Sbmissions Waiting for Author's Approval、Submissions Being Processed、Submissions Needing Revision、Rvisions Sent Back to Author、Icomplete Submissions Being Revised、Risions Waiting for Author's Approval、Revisions Being Processed、Declined Revisions。 6、修回稿的投递-Submitted the revised manuscript：主要修改revised manuscript、response to the reviewers、cover letter，还有其他修改的相关材料。程序是进入投稿主页main menu，点击revise，仍然按照原先程序投递（近似于4），切记把修改的标题、摘要和回复信等内容要修改。最后上传附件时，先把留下来且未修改的材料前打钩（表示留下不变），然 后点击next，再上传已经修改的材料（主要包括revised manuscript、response to the reviewers、cover letter等），最后下载pdf，查看无误后，即可到投稿主页approve submission或直接submit it。

GDNF has long been thought to be a potent neurotrophic factor for the survival of midbrain dopaminergic neurons, which are degenerated in Parkinson’s disease. In this paper, we report an unexpected, acute effect of GDNF on A-type potassium channels, leading to a potentiation of neuronal excitability, in the dopaminergic neurons in culture as well as in adult brain slices. Further, we show that GDNF regulates the K+ channels through a mechanism that involves activation of MAP kinase. Thus, this study has revealed, for the first time, an acute modulation of ion channels by GDNF. Our findings challenge the classic view of GDNF as a long-term survival factor for midbrain dopaminergic neurons, and suggest that the normal function of GDNF is to regulate neuronal excitability, and consequently dopamine release. These results may also have implications in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Due to a direct competition and conflict of interest, we request that Drs. We believe that two aspects of this manuscript will make it interesting to general readers of Neuron. First, we report that GDNF has a long-term regulatory effect on neurotransmitter release at the neuromuscular synapses. This provides the first physiological evidence for a role of this new family of neurotrophic factors in functional synaptic transmission. Second, we show that the GDNF effect is mediated by enhancing the expression of the Ca2+-binding protein frequenin. Further, GDNF and frequenin facilitate synaptic transmission by enhancing Ca2+ channel activity, leading to an enhancement of Ca2+ influx. Thus, this study has identified, for the first time, a molecular target that mediates the long-term, synaptic action of a neurotrophic factor.
