对于高一学生的写作指导,基本围绕两个方面:基本句型的准确运用;思维逻辑的初步训练。

先说句型,鉴于这节课的学生英语水平比较薄弱,所以强化常用的套话,譬如it句型,there be句型。写作的顺序基本都从套话的模仿开始的。

再说思维,围绕:为什么,结果如何。

步骤:

这个指导过程也很有讲究的,因为我认为写作就是自然续写过程,遵守一般写作规律:列提纲和遣词造句。写作水平的提高关键就是两步:提纲中的思维的科学性;遣词造句要符合体裁的得体性。高级写作,还要关注写作的简洁性。

课堂实例的问题:

1.选择一个专业原因是什么?(1.专业的有用;

2.个人的兴趣;

3.就业的需求)

学生回答:方便人们工作和生活,促进发展:

学生写:It makes people work conveniently.

这个句子没有问题,但是我们思考一下convenient更常见的表达是:make it convenient for sb to do...

3.介绍个人

我掌握了计算机的知识,所以我很适合。

I know a lot about computer science, so I am fit for the major.

措词上思考:掌握的常用表达;适合这里准确说是合格。所以我们要考虑申请信的常用的表达是:be qualified for...

写作的教学遵守的模式非常多,无所谓高下,适合自己的风格就是最好的。就我而言,我开始摒弃体裁写作教学法(即先给例子和语料,然后模仿。这种写作方法伴随我十年的时间),原因是:这种方法容易禁锢学生的想象力,学生潜意识非要用上前面的知识,但往往写出的作文别扭,读起来很造作,更重要的是,脱离了真实的考场的环境和写作本质过程。写作过程就是:我把想到的东西组织好并表达清楚,然后在遣词造句上下点功夫。

我宁愿在写作的过程中去启发学生如何遣词造句,在这个过程中让学生发挥主动意识来积累相关语料,让他们有一种恍然大悟的感觉。这样的写作教学对于我而言才是一种享受。

题目

假定你是李华,准备明年高考后去英国某大学留学学习英国文学(或计算机科学),请写一封申请信。

内容要点:

1. 告知写信目的;

2. 你选择该专业原因和个人情况简介;

3. 表达信心和感谢。

注意:词数120左右。可以适当增加细节,以使行文连贯。

附录:高考英语写作从14到20+的四个训练步骤

很多学生词汇储备都很不错,语法基础也扎实,但是一写作,就给人浓浓汉式英语。原因很多,但要想短期内从不及格到最高档,就应该这样练习。

句子写作的核心策略:

首先确定所要表达内容的核心主干,然后确保所写出的句子符合英语句型基本结构,最后加以适当的调整和修饰即可。具体来说,建议参考下面的“四步走”,以能写出correct and communicative sentences:

具体过程如下:

第一步,“句意内容明确化”。这是指考生要清楚自己要在一个句子里面表达的思想内容。自己都不清楚,怎么能指望别人懂得?

第二步,“复杂句意简单化”。在第一个步骤基础上,亲可以将自己的复杂汉语想法还原成简单朴实的结构,故称“复杂句意简单化”。例如:

汉语语义:“我对这次考试胸有成竹。”

简单化为:我对这次考试很有把握/信心。

否则,直译汉语容易“出人命”:I have a bamboo in my chest…

第三步,“简单句意英语化”。在第二步的基础上把简单化的汉语写成英语,遵循两个基本原则:

1)确保所写英语句子主干结构正确,就是一定要符合英语句子的基本结构;修饰语暂处于次要地位;

2)确保所写主干能够清楚达意;如果考生的词汇能力有限,可选择原有语义的同义、近义词汇。例如:对于上面的例子,主干为“我有信心”,全句写成英语:

(a)I have confidence in this exam.(符合主谓宾结构)

(b)I am confident about this exam.(符合主系表结构)

第四步,“简单英语复杂化”。在第三个步骤的“主干”上“添枝加叶”,具体来说,根据第一个步骤的丰富句意和英语的修饰习惯对句子主干进行修饰,遵循两个基本原则:

(1)所添修饰成份需尽量符合英语的修饰习惯及思维习惯;

(2)添加修饰成份时如果个人词汇能力有限,可选择原有语义的同义或近义词汇。例如:对于上面的例子中的简单英语进行修饰扩展:

(a)I have absolute/complete confidence in this exam.(添加形容词,表示“绝对/完全”有信心。)

(b)I am/feel very/fairly/quietly/reasonably confident about this exam.(添加副词,表示“很”有信心。)
