《红字》读后感英文500字

Reading the novel "Red Letter" has been an incredibly powerful and personal experience for me. It has challenged me to consider certain the social issues, with a particular focus on gender inequality and the struggles women often face in society. Through the characters and their stories, I am able to understand issues in a different way and, more importantly, to empathise with their challenges.

The novel is written in the form of interwoven diaries which reveal the complex relationships among the characters. The diary format allows the readers to enter into the lives of the characters, experience their challenges firsthand, and come to appreciate their emotions and thoughts. I particularly admired the character of Nayanika, who despite her many difficulties was able to stay strong and determined in her fight for justice and gender equality.

The novel also paints a vivid picture of the current state of gender inequality in India. It reveals how patriarchy, discrimination, and violence continue to oppress certain communities and individuals, particularly women. It is a heartbreaking reminder that even today there are so many people struggling against oppressive systems which prevent them from achieving their full potential.

Overall, the novel is incredibly powerful and compelling. It is an important reminder of the important issues facing us today and the struggles that some people face in order to be heard and respected. It serves as a reminder to take action to protect those who can’t prote ct themselves and to speak up when something isn’t right.

Reading this novel has opened my eyes to the plight of these individuals and will be something I’ll never forget.

英语专业毕业论文《红字》赏析全英文(可编辑)浅析《红字》中象征主义手法的运用 Abstract Nathaniel Hawthorne is a great romantic novelist in America in the 19th century. As a great romantic novelist, Hawthorne is outstanding in handling application of symbolism. The Scarlet Letter is Hawthorne's most important symbolic novel, which is the best work of Hawthorne and one of the indubitable masterpieces of American Literature. And it is this novel that makes Nathaniel Hawthorne known all around the world. In this work, Hawthorne uses the symbolism so skillfully that it enhances the artistic effects of his work greatly. In The Scarlet Letter, symbolism runs through the whole novel. The most important symbol is the scarlet letter itself. Not only does “A” manifest in various forms, but also it has changing meanings from “adultery” to “able”, even “angelic” in the novel. Besides, the name of the four major characters in the novel: Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, Roger Chillingworth and Pearl also have their own symbolic meanings. Some other objects and natural surroundings that are described in the novel such as the jail, the forest, the rose bush and so on are all endowed with a deep symbolic significance. The author of the thesis will explore the usage of symbolism in The Scarlet Letter from the t hree aspects mentioned above and analyze Hawthorne’s skillful use of

《红字》的读后感英文

《红字》的读后感英文 The Scarlet Letter is a classic novel written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It is a historical fiction set in a Puritan society in the 17th century. The novel is a tale of sin, guilt and redemption that explores themes such as morality, religion, and society. The Scarlet Letter made a lasting impression on me after reading it. The story’s main character is Hester Prynne, a young woman who is condemned to wear a scarlet letter “A” on her chest as a punishment for having an extramarital affair. The “A” stands for adultery and serves as a constant reminder of her sin. Despite her shame, Hester raises her daughter Pearl alone, refuses to reveal her lover, and develops her own sense of self. Throughout the story, I was impressed by Hester’s strength and courage. She took responsibility for her actions and never gave up despite the harsh punishment she faced. Hester persevered and kept her dignity even when the Puritan society shunned her. Her character is what makes this book such a powerful and memorable read. The novel also addresses the theme of hypocrisy. The Puritan society is portrayed as hypocritical as they have their own secrets and sins, yet they condemn Hester without mercy for hers. This hypocrisy shows how easily society can judge and condemn others without taking a closer look at themselves. Another important theme in the novel is sin and redemption. Hester’s journey of guilt and remorse ultimately leads to her redemption as she finds peace within herself and forgiveness from

When he comes over two years later he is bewildered to see his wife in pillory, wearing a scarlet letter A on her breast, holding her illicit child in her arms. Determined to find out who her lover is, the old scholar disguises himself as a physician and changes his name to Roger Chillingworth. Though living on the fringe of the community, she does her best to reestablish her fellowship with her neighbors on a new, honest basis. I found this in our school library, I chose this book because the title attracted me. The book is structured around two parallel love stories, the first half of the novel centering on the love between Catherine and Heathcliff, while the less dramatic second half features the developing love between young Catherine and Hareton. In contrast to the first, the latter tale ends happily, restoring peace and order to Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. In the story, the two houses, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, represent opposing worlds and values. I spent twenty days reading this book. After reading this book, I felt for Heathcliff at first. Heathcliff begins his life as a homeless orphan on the streets of Liverpool, and then he tyrannized by Hindley Earnshaw. But he becomes a villain when he acquires power and returns to Wuthering Heights with money and the trappings of a gentleman. His malevolence proves so great and long—lasting. As he himself points out, his abuse of Isabella—his wife is purely sadistic, as he amuses himself by seeing how much abuse she can take and still come cringing back for more. Catherine represents wild nature, in both her high, lively

《红字》英文读后感

《红字》英文读后感 As I finished reading Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Scarlet Letter”, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed by the book’s timeless relevance and piercing message. The story is a powerful exploration of guilt, redemption, and the destructive power of society’s overwhelming judgments. In “The Scarlet Letter”, Hawthorne masterfully combines the evocative power of symbolism, setting, and character development to paint a vivid portrait of a society that condemns a young mother for committing adultery. At the heart of the novel is the main character, Hester Prynne. Hester is a strong, independent woman who refuses to submit to societal expectations, even though she knows that her actions will bring upon her the ultimate punishment. As she is forced to wear the scarlet letter “A” on her chest, Hester bears the weight of her sin and society’s condemnation with stoic grace. Through her character, Hawthorne exposes the hypocrisy of Puritan society, which is quick to judge and condemn those who fail to live up to its strict moral standards. Hester’s lover, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, is also developed in detail. He represents the internal struggle many people face when their actions conflict with their personal beliefs. Dimmesdale is a respected member of the community and a man of God, but his affair with Hester leaves him wracked with guilt and shame. What makes Dimmesdale’s situation so compelling is his inability to come forward with his secret sin, even as he preaches about the importance of personal confessi on and repentance. Dimmesdale’s internal struggle with guilt and the burden of his sin make him a tragic figure that many readers will be able to relate to.
