阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

A

The Internet has a much younger history than e-mail. It was not really invented but developed from simple beginnings. E-mail messages at first were not sent; they were left behind like leaving a note on someone’s desk. This message would be easily seen by the user when logged on.

The first e-mail system of this type was called MAILBOX. It was used in 1965 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. SNDNSG was another early program that could send messages on the same computer. Thus before the arrival of the Internet, e-mail messaging was only done with the same computer. When the Internet was

developed, the problem at the time was sending the message to the right person. While the computers could recognize and talk to each other, identifying(证实)a particular person to receive the e-mail message was not simple at all.

Addressing the e-mail message was invented in1972 by Ray Tomlinson. He chose “@”from the keyboard for denoting(标明) sending messages from one computer to the other. Since then, using the Internet to send an e-mail message has been simple. Other e-mail features such as labeling and sorting e-mail in folders came later. Larry Roberts invented some e-mail folders for his boss for sorting his e-mail; it was a big step forward. Later, John Vital developed a software in 1975 for organizing e-mail.

It was difficult to connect to the Internet and make replies. Offline readers helped a lot to solve this problem. It allowed users to store their e-mail on their personal computers, then read them and prepare replies without being connected to the network. This is similar to today’s Microsoft Outlook.

56. We know that the earliest e-mail messages were ______.

A. sent among several computers

B. not sent but left behind on a computer

C. not easy to be seen by the computer user

D. often read by the user without being logged on

57. When the Internet was developed, the problem that people faced was how to ______.

A. talk to other computers

B. receive e-mail messages in time

C. recognize other computers

D. send e-mail messages to the right person

58. What is the passage mainly about?

A. The relationship between e-mail and the Internet.

B. The importance of the invention of the Internet.

C. A short history of e-mail messaging.

D. Different ways to send e-mail.

There are two special days with which to honour their parents in the United States: Mother’s Day, on the second Sunday in May, and Father’s Day, on the third Sunday in June. These days are set aside to show love and respect for parents. They raise their children and educate them to be responsible citizens. They give love and care. These two days make us think about the changing roles of mothers and fathers. More mothers now work outside the home. More fathers must help with child care.

These two special days are celebrated in many different ways. On Mother’s Day people wear carnations. A red one symbolizes a living mother. A white one shows that the mother is dead. Many people attend religious services to honor parents. It is also a day when people whose parents are dead visit the cemetery(墓地). On these days families get together at home, as well as in restaurants. They often have outdoor

barbecues (烧烤)for Father’s Day. Thes e are days of fun and good feelings and memories.

Another tradition is to give cards and gifts. Children make them in school. Many people make their own presents. These are valued more than the ones bought in stores. It is not the value of the gift that is important, but it is “the thought that counts”. Greeting card stores, florists, candy makers, bakeries(面包师), telephone companies, and other stores do a lot of business during these holidays.

59. Which of the following is NOT a reason for children to show love and respect for parents?

A. Parents bring up children.

B. Parents give love and care to children.

C. Parents educate children to be good persons.

D. Parents pass away before children grow up.

A. They sell flowers.

B. They make and sell bread.

C. They offer enough room for having family parties.

62. Which do you think is right about “carnation” in Para2? _________.

A. It has only two kinds of colors.

B. It refers to the special clothes people wear on Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.

C. It’s a kind of flower showing love and best wishes.

D. People can wear carnations only on the second Sunday in May.

Funding of education has been cut by many states in the US. In California, thousands of teachers have lost their jobs.

Veronica Pellegrin received a letter, which said she lost her job. She said, “Getting the letter and seeing you have lost your job—it hurts.”

Sixty percent of the teachers at the Mariposa-Nabi primary school in Los Angeles have received such letters. Salvador Rodriguez, the school’s headteacher, has bought computers for his students. He said, “We have to keep going and make it the best year with all these changes.” But fewer teachers mean bigger classes at his school. Mr Rodriguez said there used to be twenty students to a teacher. But next year, he expected, there would be nearly thirty students in a class. He added, “There are more students in a class than before. Teachers can not pay as much attention to each student as before.”

In Los Angeles there are many public schools. Ten to twelve percent of their

workers have been asked to leave their jobs in the past two years. About half of those were teachers, said John Deasy, the head of the Los Angeles Unified School District. He said, “The recent recession(经济衰退) has greatly influenced the state budget(预算) and we have had a tremendous drop in funding.”

John Rogerts, an education professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, said other states had also reduced the number of teachers. Across the country, one hundred and sixty thousand teachers lost their jobs this spring. The situation in Califormia is worse. Primary and secondary schools in California receive most of their funding from the state government. The amount of funding each year depends on the economy(经济).

67. What is the main idea of this passage?

A. Many people are suffering from the recession.

B. Thousands of US teachers are looking for new jobs.

C. Many states cut funding in areas including education.

D. Thousands of US teachers have lost their jobs as states cut funding.

68. What Veronica Pellegrin said in Paragraph 2 shows that .

A. she knew she would lost her job

B. she understood why she lost her job

C. she was not happy that she lost her job

D, she was sure she would find another teaching job

69. That many teachers at the Mariposa-Nabi primary school were dismissed means .

A. each student cannot get as much attention from teachers as before

B. many students will leave the school for better education

C. teachers will have more classes than before

D. more computers will be bought for students

70. The underlined word“tremendous”in Paragraph 4 means“”.

A. strange

B. huge

C. short

D. slow

第II 卷(非选择题)

第三部分:写作(共2节,满分35分)

第一节:单词拼写(5分)

71.The best performances were tape-recorded and b________ over the radio.

72.Various e________ for these changes in climate have been offered by scientists

all over the world.

73.This book is f___________ to be taken out of the library, according to the rules of our school.

74.I decided to c________ all my efforts on finding somewhere to live.

75.In sport what really c_____ is not the winning but the playing.

76.She would never do anything that was not __________ (赞同) of by her parents.

第二节:任务型阅读(10分)

请认真阅读下面短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入最恰当的单词。

注意:每空一个单词。

As we all know, not only crazy people talk to themselves. We all spend the whole day talking to ourselves even if we don’t realize it. Self-talk is like having a radio in our head. We hear it wherever we are. This voice is a non-shop reminder of how unlucky, bad, or silly we are.

This voice can leave you without control over your life. It can convince(使相信) you not to apply for your dream job, or not to be willing to make that positive change your life needs so much. It feeds on the fear and the doubt it produces in you, but it is up to you whether to let it take control.

Firstly, be aware of that negative voice talking to you and what it is saying. Observe the self- talk inside your head and truly listen to it. Commonly we don’t pay attention to our thoughts---they just come and go automatically, and control our life. Most of us don’t focus consciously on what our inner voice is saying; we simply accept its judgement as the truth, and this is where many of us get stuck, sometimes for our whole life. Learn to recognize who truly is in control of your life.

Secondly, assess(评价) your inner voice

Learn to recognize the forms it takes: maybe it gets nervous, mad, or frightened.Maybe there is a hint of a positive voice trying to gain strength over the negative one; if there is, you should be proud.Try to focus and listen to that background positive chat more and more every time you hear it.With practice, you will hear it all the time. The most important thing is that you are aware that your inner voice is just a habit of your mind and that you can easily change the station to listen to a different tune, one that makes , you feel good.

Now you can start replacing the negative talk with a positive one.

Give the good talk space to speak, and encourage it through positive affirmations(肯定) until you feel the change inside yourself. When you find the negative talk fighting you with something like “ I can’t do anything right”, at once change that into a positive affirmation like “Everything I do turns out right”. This is very powerful exercise because it allows you to assess how each statement makes

书面表达

Dear Burke,

I have got a problem and I need to ask for your help. I feel I am a little too fat. What’s worse, I am putting on weight all the time. I am very wor ried about my figure and how I look. I even fear that some of my classmates laugh at me.

At one time, I tried to work out in a gym two or three times, but I finally dropped just because I had no time and always felt very tired after doing exercise. Once I tried going on a diet. However, after about a week, I could not go on because I felt so hungry that I was not able to continue my studies. Then I took weight-loss pills in secret. Shortly after, they did work and I was losing weight fast. But I felt tired and weak sometimes.

I know those pills usually have bad effects on our health. Thus, I don’t know what I should do. Could you give me some advice?

Yours,

Li Hong

He’s tired, and so am I.(=I’ m also tired.) You can swim, and so can I.(=I can also swim.) She has had supper, and so can I.(=I’ve had lunch, too.) Tom speaks English, and so does his sister.(=His sister speaks English, too.) A: I went to the park yesterday. B: So did I.(=I also went to the park yesterday.) 2.“So +主语+be/have/助动词/情态动词”结构中的主谓是正常语序,so相当于indeed,certainly,表示说话人对前面或对方所说情况的肯定、赞同或证实,语气较强,意思是“确实如此”。 例如 A:It was cold yesterday.昨天很冷。B:So it was.的确如此。(=Yes,it was.) A:You seem to like sports.B:So I do.(=Yes,I do.) A:It will be fine tomorrow.B:So it will.(=Yes ,it will.) 3.“主语+do/does/did + so”结构指的是按上句的要求做了。此句型中do so代替上文中要求做的事,以免重复。 My Chinese teacher told me to hand in my composition on time and I did so.(=I han ded in my composition on time.) 语文老师叫我按时交作文, 我照办了。 4.So it is with…或 It is the same with…句型表示“……(的情况)也是如此。”当前面的句子中有几种不同形式的谓语时,要表示相同情况,必须使用本句型,不能使用so 引起的倒装句。 She doesn’t play the piano, but she likes singing. So it is with my sister. 5、There you are. 行了,好。 这是一句表示一种事情告一段落或有了最终结果的用语。如:

2020年秋新版牛津译林英语高一必修一第二单元综合测评(附答案)

2020年秋高一新牛津译林版必修一第二单元综合测评 (注:本试卷满分120分,考试时间100分钟) 一、阅读理解(每题2.5分,共40分) A Regarded as one of the English language’s most gifted poets, John Keats wrote poetry that concentrated on imagery, human nature, and philosophy (哲学). Although Keats didn’t receive much formal literary education, his own studies and passion brought him much success. Additionally, his own life situation influenced his poetry greatly. Growing up as a young boy in London in a lower middle-class family, the young John didn’t attend a priv ate school, but went to a public one. His teachers and his family’s friends regarded him as an optimistic boy who favored playing and fighting much more than minding his studies. After his father’s death in the early 1800s, followed by his mother’s passing due to tuberculosis (肺结核), he began viewing life differently. He wanted to escape the world and did so by reading anything he could get his hands on. At around the age of 16, the teenage John Keats began studying under a surgeon so that he too might become a doctor. However, his literary appetite had taken too much of his fancy, especially with his addiction to the poetry of Ehmund Spenser. He was able to have his first full poem published in the Examiner in 1816, entitled O Solitude! If I Must With Thee Dwell. Within two months in 1817, Keats had written an entire volume of poetry, but was sharply criticized (批评) by a magazine. However, the negative response didn’t stop his love of rhythm (韵律). John Keats’ next work was Endymion, which was published in May 1818. The story involves a shepherd who falls in love with the moon goddess and leads him on an adventure of one boy’s hope to overcome the limitations of being human. Following Endymion, however, he tried something more narrative-based (叙事体的) and wrote Isabella. During this time, John Keats began seeing his limitations in poetry due to his own limit in life experiences. He would have to have the “knowledge” associated with his poems. His next work was Hyperion that would attempt to combine all that he learned. However, a bout (发作) with tuberculosis while visiting Italy would keep him from his work and eventually take his life in 1821. 1. John Keats’ attitude towards life changed because of . A. his early education from school B. the deaths of his parents

高一第一学期牛津英语课文(学生版)

高一第一学期牛津英语课文 Unit one Reading Read this story in a school newspaper, Debby and Simon are college students. They have part-time jobs at a travel agency. They are sitting in the office. Student stories The City School Times Debby and Simon looked up as a well-dressed lady entered. The lady glanced at them both, then walked over to Debby. Debby greeted her cheerfully. The lady said, ‘I want to go by train to…’ Simon sighed and took some papers over to the fax machine. Mr. Young, a senior employee, was standing there. ‘What’s up, Simon? You don’t look very happy.’ ‘People always prefer Debby to me. I can’t understand it.’ ‘I can. It’s the way you communicate.’ ‘How can that be?’ Simon said. ‘I don’t even get a chance to speak to them.’ ‘Communicating is more than speaking and listening. Your body language is important, too.’ ‘Body language?’ ‘It’s the way you stand and sit. It’s your gestures and the expression on your face and in your eyes. Your whole appearance communicates things. The way you look at people doesn’t give them a good impression, Simon. You often rest your head on your hand. You look downwards. You never smile. You don’t turn your head or body towards people.’ ‘Look at Debby. She’s holding her head up, she looks at people’s eyes. She smiles. Your body language is telling people to go away. Debby’s body language is making them feel welcome. That’s why they go to her for assistance, and not to you.’ After that, Simon decided to improve his body language. He sat up and smiled at people. This seemed to work. Minutes later, a very beautiful girl entered. She looked at Debby and then Simon. Without hesitation she went to Simon and gave him a big smile. A few moments later, she left, still smiling. Mr. Young came over at once and remarked, ‘You made a good impression on her.’ ‘That was my sister’, said Simon, “She wanted to remind me that tomorrow is her birthday.’ More reading Eye contact Eye contact is a form of communication which can mean different things in different cultures. Read this article about eye contact on a website. Throughout the history of mankind, people have communicated with body language. In many situations, the way you say something is far more important than what you say. Eye contact is sometimes the key to communication. It can signal friendliness or hostility, interest or boredom, and understanding or confusion. In western cultures, maintaining eye contact in conversations is necessary. As a matter of fact, a
