英语I(1)课程教学实施细则

一、教学对象及教学安排

本课程是中央广播电视大学公共英语课,供各类专业(不含英语专业)的专科学生学习。

本课程总学时为54学时,每周3个学时,一学期完成。共3学分。

本课程教学进度为每周学习一个单元(Unit), 共18个单元,18周完成。

二、教学目的

通过本课程的学习,学生应能掌握一定的英语语言基础知识, 具备初步的听、说、读、写能力:能掌握1,100词左右的常用词汇(包括入学时要求掌握的600词)和相关的常用词组;能听懂发音清楚、语速较慢的教学用语和日常生活用语;能用英语进行简单的日常交谈;能读懂所学词汇和语法范围内的故事、短文及通知、便函等;能够用便条转达具体信息,写出简短的私人信函。同时,本课程通过提供一些英语国家的文化背景知识,增强学生对这些国家的了解,帮助学生提高语言的实际应用能力。

三、教学资源

1、设计思路及特点

本课程依据“以学生为中心”的现代教学思想进行教学资源设计,致力于培养学生的自主学习意识,实现教学模式由灌输式向自主式的转变。同时,参照全国公共英语等级考试的基本要求,使本课程所含词汇及语法点能与之接轨。整套教学资源有如下特点:

1)突出语言的实用性和应用性。以日常生活用语为主,边学边练,反复运用,使学生能学以致用。

2)听说读写四种技能融为一体,有机结合,培养学生对语言综合应用能力。

3)难易度呈低起点阶梯状稳步递升,同时加强助学与导学,最大限度地减少学习难度,缩短学习跨度。

4)每个学习单元(Unit)分为三部分(Session),每部分由若干短小而易于操作的相关学习活动 (Activity)组成,这种结构使学生可以利用零散的、相对较短的时间分段分批完成学习任务。

5)注重多种媒体的综合运用,合理有效地分配和利用教学媒体,使之有机配合,相互补充,避免简单重复。

2、关于文字教材

内容说明

英语I(1)有文字教材两册:《开放英语1》、《开放英语综合练习1》。

主教材《开放英语1》共18个学习单元(Unit),每单元分为3个部分(Session),每个部分由若干活动(Activity)组成,但其中6、12、18单元为复习与自测单元,结构上略有不同。主教材内容以日常生活为主,每单元包括学习目标、学习活动、语言要点、文化点滴、导学帮助、学习技巧、学习小结、词汇学习、录音文本、练习答案、复习自测等内容,还有虚拟导师提供学习方法指导。教学设计上加强了助学、导学内容,对各项学习任务给予简明扼要的导学或反馈,以培养学员的自主学习能力。每单元的学习量约为3学时。具体教学内容参见《开放英语1》的“内容概览”。

《开放英语综合练习1》是《开放英语1》的配套教材,其内容与主教材相对应,在进一步巩固主教材所学内容的同时,加强语音语调学习,扩展词汇量及语法点,补充综合练习。此外还设计了“轻松时刻”这一版块,增加了教材的趣味性。每单元的学习量约为1学时。

本教材要求学生有600词的的基础词汇,详见《开放英语1》附录III基础词汇。

工艺设计

为更好地体现“以学生为中心”,方便学生自主学习的指导思想,在本教材的工艺设计

上有些新的尝试。

1)通过单元(Unit)首、节(Session)首教学要点中英文提示帮助学员在学习前了解训练目标;通过单元末的学后小结填空练习帮助学员总结和监控自己的学习进度、检验学习成果。

2)各个小结中穿插“教师之声”,将学员引入读、听、说、写等教学环节,帮助学员梳理语言知识脉络,理解、掌握学习要点。

3)用页旁留白形式起导学、助学作用。把在面授教学中教师在课上、课间、课下所提供的各种教学指导活动,如答疑、鼓励、学习方法指导等融进留白处;把课文、对话中的生词注在留白处,避免学员因前后翻页而带来的阅读不便。

4)按照“方便学员”的原则,对学习步骤进行醒目的标识;用不同的字体、图表、颜色等的配置使学习内容层次分明、清晰,突出重点内容;为学习目标添加中文旁注。

5)单元后配有按照教材中出现顺序排列的词汇表,注明单词、发音、词性、词义。教材附录中收录了练习答案和录音文本,方便学员核对练习答案。

3、媒体使用情况

1)文字教材有两种版本:配CD或配录音带,价格相同,可供学生根据具体情况选用。

2)“开放英语1多媒体学习系统” 是一套利用计算机和多媒体技术的网络学习系统,目前该学习系统处于试点阶段,具体的试点实施方案请参看中央电大考试平台

四、教学建议

如何教好和学好《开放英语》系列课程,观念的转变是第一步,也是最重要的一步。怎样“以学生为中心”来开展教学,如何使学生由“被动接受者”变为“主动进攻者”,教师的角色怎样由“灌输者”向“引导者”、“帮助者”转换,这些都需要以观念的转变为基础。而这个任务对于任课教师显得尤为艰巨,因为他们不仅需要转换自己的观念,同时还担负着帮助学生尽快适应新的教学模式、转变观念的重任。在此,就如何在教学过程中贯彻这一新的教学模式提一些建议,希望能对实际教学工作有所帮助。

关于教学方式

1、成人高等教育培养的是应用型专门人才,英语课程教学不仅应注重打好语言基础,更要注意培养实际应用语言的能力,在传授语言文化知识的同时,注意对学生思想文化素质的培养。

2、按照“以学生为中心”的原则组织课堂辅导和课外学习,培养学生自主学习的意识。以学生利用多种媒体教学资源自学为主,辅之以面授课。学生应在辅导课前自主学习教材中的内容,认真完成每一项学习活动(Activity),并鼓励学生结对或以小组形式进行操练,在自学自练中发现自己在语言技能、知识上存在的问题,同时将在自学过程中解决不了的疑难问题以口头或书面形式提交给辅导老师。

3、在面授辅导、课堂讨论中,教师应充分发挥课堂教学控制者、指挥者、管理者、促进者和信息、反馈、帮助的提供者的作用。辅导课除讲解重、难点和答疑外,还可以利用录象开展一些语言技能的训练,尽量为学生提供口语练习的机会。《开放英语》系列是为自主学习设计的教材,切忌在辅导课上大量串讲,使学生放弃自学,完全依赖面授课,难以完成学习任务.

4、学习的最佳动力:一是兴趣,二是实际需要。英语学习也不例外。兴趣是无法强求的,但日益国际化的英语在当今社会的需求却是有目共睹的。建议教师在教学过程中向学生反复强调学好英语对其未来的工作、生活的重要性,使学生们消除“只要能通过考试就行”的思想,激发学习积极性,真正实现由被动学习向主动学习的转换。同时应该使学生意识到:能够积极地自主学习,并不仅仅是一个好的学习方式,同时也是对自身良好素质的培养,因为自主学习需要学习者有决心、有毅力,具有自我管理、自我约束等能力,而这正是当今社会所提倡和需要培养的个人素质。

5、通过各种方式帮助学生尽快适应这种新的教学模式。如为了指导学生养成良好的学习习惯,教师在辅导课上应检查学生是否填写了每单元之后的学后小结(Review Reminder)中的个人学习记录,内容可以是对所学内容的补充,也可以是学习难点的记录(如果所留空白不够,可利用页旁留白或准备专门的学习记录本)。此外,鼓励学生制订长期学习计划以规划学习进程,短期学习计划(每月、每周甚至每天)以保证学习时间;帮助学生选择适合自己的学习方法,提高自学能力;等等。

关于教学内容

1、第一次面授辅导课应向学生介绍本课程在设计上的原则与特色,使学生了解自主学习对于学好本课程,其实也是学好英语的的必要性和重要性。同时,重点学习《开放英语1》中的学习指南,确保学生了解文字教材的各个部分的使用方法,使学生学会合理而有机地利用整套教学资源的各部分。

2、本课程针对成人远距离学英语的特点,设计了大量的跟读和会话练习,因为对于初学者来说,养成跟读和大声朗读英语的习惯是很重要的,是开口讲英语的基础。教师应要求学生充分利用与文字教材配套的录音素材,反复做这些练习,直到自己满意为止。

3、教师在教学实践中应注意文化和语言间的密切联系,应要求学生除了语言知识以外,也要重视对文化背景知识的学习。这样做一方面有助于提高学生的语言应用能力,另一方面也扩大了学生的知识面,增强了学生对不同文化的理解能力。教材中的文化点滴(Cultural Note)版块正是基于这种理念而设立的。

4、词汇部分以文字主教材每个单元后的词汇表为主,其中所列单词及词组是必须掌握的。其余文字主、辅教材中给出中文释义的词或词组不做要求。

5、《开放英语综合练习》中的广播连续剧(Audio Drama)既可以复习、巩固和扩展学习内容,也有利于激发学生的学习兴趣。但对于基础较差,学习较吃力的学习者,建议放弃此部分内容。另外,《开放英语》中学习技巧(Study Tip)中的英文部分也只供学有余力者参考。

6、对于直接学习本系列课程的第三、四学期的学生,如果英语基础不够,可以用《开放英语1》和《开放英语2》提前补课,建议给予一定的学分。

五、课程考核

本课程的考核由形成性考核和课程终结考试两部分组成,形成性考核占总成绩30%,课程终结考试占70%。

形成性考核内容和方式严格按照“开放英语(1)形成性考核册”的具体要求执行。

课程终结考试内容包括大纲规定掌握的基本语言知识和技能。形式为闭卷,笔答。考试时间为90分钟。具体命题内容及形式参照英语I(1)考核说明。

2018年大学英语第一学期期末考试(A卷) Part II Reading Comprehension (30 %) Directions: There are four passages in this part. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center. Passage One Science is not a set of unquestionable results but a way of understanding the world around us. Its real work is slow. The scientific method , as many of us learned in school, is a gradual process that begins with a purpose or problem or question to be answered. It includes a list of materials, a procedure to follow, a set of observations to make and, finally, conclusions to reach. In medicine, when a new drug is proposed that might cure or control a disease, it is first tested on a large random group of people, and their reactions are then compared with those of another random group not given the drug. All reactions in both groups are carefully recorded and compared, and the drug is evaluated. All of this takes time and patience. It’s the result of course, that makes the best news—not the years of quiet work that characterize the bulk of scientific inquiry. After an experiment is concluded or an observation is made, the result continues to be examined critically. When it is submitted for publication, it goes to a group of the scientist’s colleagues, who review the work. Einstein was right when he said: “No amount of experimentation can ever prove me right, a single experiment can at any time prove me wrong.” In August 1996, NASA announced the discovery in Antarctica of a meteorite(流星)from Mars that might contain evidence of ancient life on another world. As President Clinton said that day, the possibility that life existed on Mars billions of years ago was potentially one of the great discoveries of our time. After the excitement wore down and initial papers were published, other researchers began looking at samples from the same meteorite. Some concluded that the “evidence of life”was mostly contamination from Antarctic ice or that there was nothing organic at all in the rock. Was this a failure of science, as some news reports trumpeted? No! It was a good example of the scientific method working the way it is supposed to. Scientists spend years on research, announce their findings, and these findings are examined by other scientists. That’s how we learn. Like climbing a mountain, we struggle up three feet and fall back two. It’s a process filled with disappointments and reverses, but somehow we keep moving ahead.
