Abstract

This is a report on Chinese-English translation practice of Manual of the Management of Occupational Security and Environmental Health for King Fa Technology Corporation.Not only the rules and regulations but also a brief introduction to the company are included in this handbook.The scale of the project is eleven thousand and two hundred Chinese characters.The purpose of this project is to provide help and reference for translation of Chinese cross-text of commercial and legal texts. The author is authorized to finish the translation of this item independently by the firm. The requirement of the company about the translated text is that it should be smooth and loyal to the original one.

This report is written under the guidance of the function theory proposed by Nida. It is mainly about the background information,linguistic features and the use of informative function and impressive function of language in translating the handbook.

In the process of translating the project,methods such as literal translation, transliteration and combined translation are used to solve the problems the translator has met in translating professional words,concepts and long,complex sentences during the translation of this material.The translated version has met the requirements of the company.

Some experimental conclusions have been made in this translation practice by including the problems and the solutions to them.It is expected that these conclusions may provide guidance and help for the translation of commercial documents.

摘要

本报告是《金发科技股份有限公司环境及职业健康安全管理手册》汉英翻译实践报告。

该手册涵盖金发科技股份有限公司在环境及职业健康安全管理方面的规章制度，也涉及公司基本情况简介。项目规模为12000汉字。选择从事该项目的目的是为商业，法律交叉领域材料的翻译提供参考和帮助。笔者受该公司委托独立完成该手册翻译。委托方要求该手册的译文忠实于原文，语言表达通顺连贯。

本报告在叙述翻译实践过程时结合了奈达翻译功能说。主要阐述该手册的翻译背景，语言特点及文本信息功能、祈使功能在本手册翻译中的运用。同时，进行了翻译方法的案例分析。

在本手册翻译过程中，笔者运用了直译、分译、合译等方法，解决了专有名词、概念及长句翻译等问题，译文达到委托方基本要求。

在本次翻译实践中，通过对所遇问题和解决方法的归纳，得出了尝试性结论，期待这些结论能为商业领域材料的翻译提供参考和帮助。
