Honeybee:2~4 years old(蜜蜂——适合2~4 岁儿童)

Firefly:Preschool (萤火虫——适合学前儿童)

推荐语:这个系列基本都是Fiction(小说),也是最大的一个系列,共有900 多本,又分为很多子系列,如PM Plus 系列、PM Library 系列、PM Gems 系列、PM Stars 系列等,每本有一个经典故事和一个根据该故事改编的小剧本,每个系列分20 多级。国内也有出版社引进一部分,没翻译,只加了点单词注释。

2.Heinemann 出版的Leveled Literacy Intervention 系列

推荐语:有Fiction 也有Non-fiction(非小说作品),按字母表分成26 级。有很多子系列,例如:《Fixit Family Series》讲修理工作的故事,《The Fun Club Series》讲班级外出活动的故事,《Meli Series》讲小狗Meli的故事,《All About Series》是每本一个专题的Non-fiction,《Big Machines Series》讲重型机械系列,《Moosling Series》讲驼鹿Moosling的故事,《Sam and Jesse Series》讲两个小男孩的故事,《Kin and Lizzy Series》讲两个小女孩的故事,《Froggy and Friends Series》讲小青蛙的故事,《Fox Family Series》讲小狐狸一家的故事……这套书有彩色和黑白两个版本,国内见到的多为黑白版本。

3.MacMillan 出版的Springboard 系列

推荐语:这个系列以Fiction 为主,也有部分Non-fiction 的。分为20 多级,每级有8本,如:《About Milk》《Active Volcanoes》《What Lived in That Shell》《Crocodiles and Alligators》《Water Water Everywhere》《Shaping the Earth》《The Ice Age and the Woolly Mammoth》等。

4.Iversen 出版的Quick 60 Factual Books 系列

推荐语:共20 多级,每级4 本,全是Non-fiction,由Sandra Iverden一个人所写,内容涉及天文、地理、生物、气象、社会、人文等众多内容。例:天文有《What Looks Little in Space》《Venus and Earth》《Photos of the Moon》等,地理有《Look at the Land》《Cities》《Chicago》等,生物有《Baby Animal Names》《Can a Shark Hear Sound》《Apple Trees》等,气象有《Blown by a Twister》《Snowy Weather》《From Polar Blast to Heat Wave》等,社会有《Markets》《At the Mall》《Where do the Harrisons Live》等,人文有《The Wedding》《Girls'and boys' Toys》《Breakfast》等。

5.DK Readers 系列

推荐语:DK 是著名出版社,以出版图片精美的科普类书籍著称,其分级读物也主要是Non-fiction,即使是Fiction 也主要是为了介绍一种职业、一种现象、一种物质等。分成5 级,首先是Pre-level 级Learning to Read,然后是第一级Beginning to Read,第二级Beginning to Read Alone,第三级Read Alone,第四级Proficient Readers。Pre-level 级比较简单,有介绍职业的,如《A Day in the Life of a Firefighter》《A Day in the Life of a Police Officer》《A Day in the Life of a Builder》《A Day in the Life of a Teacher》《A Day in the Life of a Doctor》《A Trip to the Dentist》等;有介绍机器的,如《Big Machines》《Truck Trouble》等;有介绍动物的,如《A Day at Seagull Beach》《A Trip to the Zoo》《A Day at Greenhill Farm》《Dinosaur's Day》《Born to be a Butterfly》等。

6.Harper Collins 出版的An I Can Read Book 系列

推荐语:这个系列分为五级。(1)My First I Can Read Books,目标读者来自Preschool;(2)Level 1,目标读者来自PreSchool-Grade 1;(3)Level 2,目标读者来自Grades 1~3;(4)Level 3,目标读者来自Grades 2~4;(5)I can Read Chapter Books,目标读者来自Grades 3 and up。这个系列都是Fiction,特点是故事情节简洁有趣,每页都有大幅的精美图片,文字少、页数多,如Level 2 就有64 页。

足他们对世界如何运作的好奇心。它是最好的科普读物之一,精美而有童趣的绘图,深入浅出的描述,会让孩子爱上科学。这个系列只按科学概念的难易程度分

为两级。第一级如:《From Seed to Pumpkin》《From Caterpillar to Butterfly》;第二级如:《Where Does the Garbage Go》《What is the World Made of》《Fossils Tell of Long Ago》。

8.Math Start 系列

推荐语:这个系列是介绍数学概念的。作者把抽象的数学概念介绍得如此深入又如此有趣,能卖出150 万本,足见其受欢迎程度。此系列按年龄段分为三级,第一级适合三岁以上,第二级适合六岁以上,第三级适合七岁以上。比较受欢迎的有:《Three Little Firefighters》(关于排序),《A House for Birdie》(关于理解能力),《Animals on Board 》(关于加法),《Spunky Monkeys on Parade 》(关于计数)等。需要注意的是,第二级虽然是推荐给六岁以上孩子的,但是中国很多四岁、五岁的孩子也适合读。

9.Flying Colours系列

推荐语:这个系列很好辨认,封面右下角有一只飞翔的鹦鹉,封底上边有一条狭长的七彩色带,不同的颜色表示不同的难度级别,越往右难度越高。而该书所属

的色块是向下拉长的,很容易看出该书的难度。共有20 多个级别,既有Fiction 也有Non-fiction。这个系列的Non-fiction 做得很好,题材十分广泛。例如《Homes Through Time》这本24 页的小书,从原始社会的帐篷讲起,按历

史发展顺序,介绍了古埃及人、古罗马人、维京人、蒙古人的住宅特点,还介绍了中世纪的城堡、工业革命时代的厂房、当今的高楼大厦,并展望未来的房屋和城市形态。面对这么复杂的内容,作者用简要的语言、精美的彩绘和照片,把这

个主题写得深入而浅出。还有这个系列的《Growing Cotton》,讲棉花如何种

推荐语:Mifflin 是著名的大出版社,其出品自然不差。这个系列的特点是,不管难度高低,每本都很薄,大概12~16 页。难度低的字体较大、文字较少,难度高的字体较小、文字较多,但图片还是基本上每页都有。这个系列的分级方法比较复杂,既有数字,又有颜色,还有形状。题材方面既有Fiction,也有Non-fiction,包罗万象,什么都谈。列举一些书名供参考:《Who is in Your Family》《Antarctic Animals》《From Sheep to Sweater》《What is in the Wind》《Signs are Everywhere》《Grow a Bean Plant》《Police in the Community》《Let's Make Music》《Firefighters in America》《Dancing Around the World》。

11.Houghton Mifflin 出版的Soar to Success 系列

推荐语:这个系列出了30 本,难度按数字大小由低到高。其特点是每本有两小篇,一篇是Non-fiction,一篇是Fiction,内容有相关性。例如《In the Forest》(第28 本)中,Non-fiction 那篇叫《A Busy Place》,描述树林的蓬勃生机;而Fiction 那篇则叫《A Good Sleep》,是个十分简短的小剧本,讲一只小熊

因为林中的各种声音而无法入睡,他的朋友小鸟和小松鼠如何帮他入睡。此系列的文字比较简单,比较少,适合初学者。

12.McGraw-Hill 出版的Foundations 系列

推荐语:McGraw-Hill 是全球最大的出版集团之一,其出版的这个系列之下又有两个子系列,其中一个子系列是普通系列,另一个子系列是Take Two Books 系列,即一个主题出两本书,一本是Fiction,另一本是Non-fiction。例如:Fiction 那本是《I Want Some Honey》,讲一只北极熊尝试蜂蜜的故事,而Non-fiction 那本则是《From Bee to Honey》,讲蜜蜂是如何采蜜的。这个系列分为三大级,分别为Emergent、Early Fluency和Fluency,每大级又有两小级,用不同颜色标示。除了这个分级方法,还同时用26个字母给予更细的分级。分级信息上还提示字数,例如,一本Level F 只有146 字,而一本Level O则有1500 字。除了Foundations 系列,McGraw-Hill 还出版了Sunshine 系列,分级方法与Foundations 系列一样,封面左上角有个小太阳,很好认。

推荐语:分三个级别,每个级别10 本。有Fiction 和Non-fiction。Fiction 主要是一群Superkids(其实是普通孩子)的学习和生活小故事,比较一般。这个系列真正出色的是其中几本Non-fiction,如:初级的《Let's Have Lunch》介绍世界各地的人午饭吃什么,《Maple Syrup》介绍枫糖是怎么采集和制作的,《Hair》介绍头发(毛发)的颜色、组成、曲直、强度、发型等;中级的《Puppets》介绍各种布偶、木偶、纸偶、手偶、人偶,《Let's Visit the Circus》介绍马戏团的历史、海报、人物、表演,《A Visit to a Coral Reef》介绍珊瑚礁的形成和生态;高级的《What is a Fossil》介绍古生物化石,《Insect Pets》介绍昆虫类的宠物以及如何饲养。

推荐语:这个系列的特点是每个级别都有两类:Social Studies 和Science。Science 就不介绍了,其他系列很多。不多见的是其Social Studies,例如Level 6 的《Getting Along At School》讲学校的规则,《Weddings Around the World》介绍世界各地的婚礼;Level 7 的《Earning Your Allowance》讲零花钱,《Rules in the Library》讲图书馆规则;Level 8 则有《Landmarks Around the World》《What do These Things Cost》《Who Looks After Your Town》等。
