真题:Due Attention Should Be Given To the Study of Chinese

1. 近年来在学生中出现了忽视中文学习的现象;

2. 出现这种现象的原因和后果;

Almost no one in China can have failed to notice the fact that a number of students pay little attention to the study of Chinese nowadays. Taking a look around, one can find examples too many to list: some refuse to go to Chinese classes, some read few Chinese classics and some rarely write in Chinese.

A number of factors can account for such phenomenon, but the following might be the critical ones. For one thing, the craze for learning English affect, to some degree, students’ passion for the study of their native language. For another, the increasing emphasis on some so-called “practical subjects” closely related to the pursuit for jobs also cut into students’ time and energy spent on the study of Chinese.

The problem mentioned above is bound to generate severe consequences if we keep turning a blind eye to it. First, students’ weakness in Chinese would lead to their ignorance of Chinese culture. Secondly, their problems with Chinese would also hinder the study of other subjects.

In view of the seriousness of the problem, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. In the first place, it is essential that the school attach more importance to the teaching of Chinese. In the second place, students should enhance their awareness of the importance of mastering their mother tongue. Only with these measures taken can we expect the all-sided development of students.

范文:

Along with the step of globalization, most students’ attention has shifted from Chinese to foreign cultures. Such a shift brought on great worries among people because it is not good for the development of Chinese culture.

There may be several reasons account for why this phenomenon could happen. First and foremost, the globalization greatly stimulated the spread of foreign cultures, which in turn stirred great interest among Chinese students; second, college students are, to some extent, forced to study certain foreign languages so as to pass exams or find good jobs so that they could not spare any time to study Chinese; last but not least, schools have no strict demand on students’ Chinese standard. No doubt, neglecting the study of Chinese will ultimately hold back the

development of Chinese culture, and Chinese people may lose their cultural identity in such a competitive world.

In order change this situation and save our identity, due attention should be given to the study of Chinese. To begin with, government should put great efforts on the development of Chinese culture to make more people proud of it; besides, colleges and universities should make exams more balanced, not simply emphasizing the importance of foreign languages; finally, schools should also attach great importance to the study of Chinese, making it a compulsory curriculum. Through these efforts, I think, chances of changing this phenomenon are prosperous.

Should Parents Send Their Kids to Art Classes?

There is no denying the fact that it has become a prevailing trend for parents to send the children to art training classes of all kinds. To this phenomenon people’s attitudes differ sharply.

Some hold the positive view. They claim that attending art classes can help nurture chil dren’s interest and tap their potentials in such art as music, painting and dancing. This, they believe, will contribute to a child’s all-sided development. Besides, they argue

that mastering skills of one art or two can add to a child’s edge of competition in the modern world.

Others, however, hold the opposite view. They point out that not all children are interested or talented in art, or a child may not be fond of all forms of art. Forcing them to go to art classes may only restrict their freedom and affect their healthy growth.

Personally, I believe that both sides have something right, so we should not go to extremes. On the one hand, it must be admitted that going to art classes is and effective means to find out and give full play to children’s talen t in art and it is conducive to their sound development. On the other hand, it is not advisable for parents to deprive their children of the right to choose to learn what they truly like. Remember, the fittest is the best.

On the Importance of a Name

There is no denying the fact that it is a controversial topic whether names are important or not. Some hold the positive view. They claim that a good name, or a name that can be easily remembered, can bring one a lot more opportunities than others. Some Chinese may also believe that a name designed according to the traditional theory of five elements can bring good luck.

Others, however, hold the opposite view. They argue that a name is nothing but a code to distinguish one from another. A person “good”name may not be as successful as the name indicates. In the same way, a person who has a common or casually given name can also achieve tremendous success.

Personally, I believe that both sides have something right, so we should not go to extremes. On the one hand, we have to admit that a well designed name can help a person to some extent. On the other hand, we should not exaggerate the effect of a name on a person’s fate. Anyway, a person’s success mainly depends on his hard work and d esirable personalities.

How to improve psychological health? There is no denying the fact that mental health is of great importance to college students. Nowadays, many students in college suffer from mental illness, which severely affects their life and study. Taking a look around, we can find examples too numerous to list. Reports are often heard that some students committed suicide or murdered their roommates. Typical examples include the case of Ma Jiajue and that of a girl stabbing her schoolmates.

In view of the seriousness of the situation, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. On the one hand, due attention has to be paid by colleges to students' mental health. First, lectures on psychological health should be frequently given to students to prevent problems from happening. Secondly, psychological clinics should be set up to provide troubled students with timely help.

As to students, we should keep the channel of communication open among ourselves and between us and our teachers and parents. Besides, in case of mental illness, we should not hesitate to go to psychological counselors for help. Only with these measures taken can we expect sound

growth of college students.

With the rapid development of information technology , e-books become common things in our daily life .Some people say that e-books will replace traditional books sooner or later ,but some others do not agree with them ,they think that traditional books will exsit for a long time .

A large percentage of men believe that e-books will take the place of traditional books ,and we can find lots of reasons for their point of view.In the first place e-books are more convenient for you to read and carry ,because people can read e-books through mobile phones, Internet ,mp4 and so on .What is more, the e-books will cost you much less money than the traditionally published books ,you can save considerable amount of money ,and with the money saved ,you can do more things .In the third place ,e-books are following the trend of information technology ,so more and more teenagers and university

students prefer to read e-books .

As far as I am concerned ,I would choose traditional books to read rather than e-books .My attitude towards this issue is that traditional books is a better choice for the reader, because you can really get down to enjoying and contemplating when you

are reading a traditional book .

Will E-books replace traditional Books?

It is known to all that ours is an age of information characterized by innumerable inventions beyond our wildest imagination even decades ago. Electronic dictionaries have found their way into numerous students’ backpacks; digital cameras have gained increasing popularity among common households. Now surprisingly, some even claim that e-books will take the place of traditional ones.

Admittedly, this new invention has benefited us in many ways. The major merit, as is held by most of its supporters, is the convenience we can derive from it. Armed with high-tech gadget, one doesn’t have to drag himself along with huge piles of books with him in case he needs consulting a book for reference; neither does he need to search from cover to cover for a single quotation. What is required is a laptop plugged

in and a mere click of the mouse.

For all the advantages, I still often dwell and linger in traditional books mainly for their irresistible charm. Nothing can be compared, at least to me, with the delight of sitting at the desk with the lamp on, sipping coffee or tea, seeing the vapor rising into the air, enveloped and immerged in the faint fragrance of printing ink. After all, practicality, if important, should not be the only determinant for our approach towards such cultural heritages as traditional books.

Will E-books Replace Traditional Books?

There is no denying the fact that e-books have been gaining increasing popularity in the past years along with the development of information technology. (Taking a look around, we can find examples too numerous to list.) For instance, people are often heard to talk about e-books written by some famous writers. Actually, modern readers seem to spend more time on e-books than on traditional ones.

As a consequence, it has emerged as a hotly debated topic whether e-books will take the place of traditional books in the future. (On this iss ue people’s attitudes differ sharply.) Some hold the positive view. (They claim that it is natural for books to be come electronic as mankind steps into a digital age. And there are some more specific reasons why traditional books will give way to e-books.) For one thing, it is convenient to read on line as modern people have easy access to the Internet while having less and less time to frequent the bookstore. For another, reading e-books saves money. As we know, a paper book can cost as high as 50 yuan while it may only cost a few cents if you read on line.

Personally, I believe that e-books cannot be a substitute for all traditional books. Although the former are convenient and less expensive, they cannot compete with the latter in at least the following aspects. First, you can take a traditional book anywhere and read it anytime but you cannot always have access to the Internet. Secondly, a truly valuable book deserves a paper version for your computer may have the risk of breaking down. Last but not least, to many people, only the smell of print and the feel of paper can provide the true sense of reading and learning. Therefore, in my opinion, the best way to read nowadays is to combine e-books and traditional ones.

Part ⅠWriting (30 minutes)

Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled The Digital Age. You should write at least 150 words following the outline given below.

There is no denying the fact that[U1] we have entered a digital age, with digital products used increasingly widely in people’s life, work and study[U2]. Taking a look around, we can find examples too numerous to list.[U3] The most striking ones might be digital cameras, digital videos [U4]and digital television.

It goes without saying that these products have benefited us substantially. With digital cameras,[U5] we can take almost as many photos as we like, as long as we have access to a computer to store them.[U6] Besides, we can delete those pictures we dislike without worrying about waste of film[U7]. Again, with digital television, we can enjoy more channels and scenes of higher quality than provided by conventional ones[U8].

However, just as every coin has two sides, these digital products may also exert a negative influence on us.[U9] For instance,[U10] we miss the happiness of going through pictures

taken by traditional cameras. Usually, after taking photos with digital cameras, we store them up and never have a look again.

To sum up, I believe that digital products have more advantages than disadvantages. And we have every reason to expect that our life will become more colorful and convenient with the use of these products.

The Digital Age

Living in the digital age, we are unavoidably exposed to all kind s of digital products, such as digital camera, digital computer, digi tal television, and so on, which grow in an increasing categories and quantities. Believe it or not, look around yourself and you can easi ly find one or two of these stuffs.

Here is a question, what kind of influence do the digital product s bring to people’s life.? Frankly speaking, these modern digital pr oducts offer us a more convenient life than before. For example, the digital camera makes it possible to delete or correct t he “unsuccess ful” photo of ours, which was impossible with the traditional camera. While, unfortunately, these fashionable digital items have cultivate

d a generation mor

e isolated from the real life. It is hard to imagin

e that a man so accustomed to the digital mobile on-line chatting can be capable o

f the practical communication with others. Finally, too much dependent on the digital things, human seem to be more indiffere

nt to the real world, which we, though reluctant to admit, have to ac cept.

Thus, as the generation assailed by all kinds of digital miracles, we might as well initiatively avoid some of them despite efficiency and comfort they can supply. Don’t forget those old days when you we re going to visit an old school friend though there would be a long t rain journey, which, in today’s digital era, has been thoroughly rep laced by the digital on-line chatting.

Should One Expect a Reward When Doing a Good Deed?

You should write at least 150 words following the outline given below.

Should One Expect a Reward When Doing a Good Deed? There is no denying the fact that it is a controversial topic whether one should expect a reward when doing a good deed. People’s opinions differ sharply on this issue. Some hold the positive view. They say that it is a natural thing for one to get rewarded after he has made contributions to

the society, especially in an age of market economy. Otherwise, people would be discouraged from helping others.

Others, however, hold the opposite view. They maintain that one should learn from Lei Feng and expect no reward when helping others. Anyway, everything is not a commodity. The whole society would be in danger if we all calculated conscience and affection in terms of money. Anyway, as the saying goes, it is love, instead of money, that turns the world around. Personally, I believe that we should not go to extremes. On the one hand, we should recognize and reward in time people who have done a good deed or good deeds; on the other hand, we should keep it in mind that we do not help others for money, but out of love and responsibility. Only in this way can we achieve a really harmonious society.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled The Importance of Reading Classics. You should write at least 150 words following the outline given below.1.

Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that reading classics plays an important role in the growth of people.

Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that reading classics plays an important and beneficial role in the personal development and growth

of people. Personally, ever since my childhood, nothing has been more attractive than reading the classic masterpieces. Taking a look around, we can find classics from which people hugely benefit too numerous to list: The Dream in the Red Chamber, The Legend of Three Kingdoms, Bible and the like.

However, it is widely acknowledged that an increasing number of people are losing interest in classics. A number of factors could account for the change, but the following are the most critical ones. On one hand, practical reading has occupied the market and students’ spare time in such a material possession oriented society. One the other hand, the boom of internet industry gives rise to the change in students’ reading habit which consequently, in comparison, makes reading classics

time-consuming and less entertaining.

In view of the seriousness of this problem, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. First, it is essential that college rules and regulations be worked out and enforced to encourage college students to read classical works and start classics-reading campaigns in campus. Secondly, college students should enhance their awareness of the importance of absorbing the essence of the classics in which our ancestors left their wisdoms and experiences. With proper rules and an alert public, it will only be a matter of time to see this problem become a thing of the past in the near future.

How to improve student’s mental health

Students’ mental health has been playing an increasingly important role in our day-to-day life. Indeed, it is widely accepted that it has gained growing popularity among persons in all walks of life. There is a general discussion today about the issue of disorder in brains.

Obviously, it is necessary that effective actions should be taken to prevent problems. Authorities in universities play a critical role in the situation. To begin with, schools, such as colleges or universities, can provide chances for the young men to ease their attention. What’s more, some are physically strong, but psychological problems are able to bring potential threats. Teaches may have a chance to find them in advance. Besides, specialists in this field are to be required to make full preparation for cases in time. Facing the crisis, experts can deal with it in a professional way, which means they have more or better opportunities to save us than others.

From the factors mentioned above, we may safely draw the conclusion that we can free ourselves from mental illness by taking certain precautions. For example, if you have pains or puzzles in mind, finding a friend to express these is a good way to release pressure. Certainly, there is little doubt that further attention will be paid to the issue.(我们)

Will E-books Replace Traditional Books?

1、随着信息技术的发展,电子图片越来越多;

With the spurt of science and technology, the invention of electronic books seems blessing to our students. Some folks prefer electric ones to textbooks. Such books are obviously handy and convenient; and thanks to their multi-functions. they are conductive to their read ers, who can obtain much relatively updated information, However, every coin has two sides. Nowadays, fewer people has time sitting beforce computer reading E-books. Even if time is available, those so-called devices named packable readers may also be restricted by virtue of lacking electricity.

When it comes to traditional books, they also have their own superiori ties. Many individuals often maintain that they are more convenient than e-books, for people have no restrictions in using them. whenever you are or whenever you are or wherever you go, you can bring some books for reading. On the other hand, traditional books are more available because they are sold in various bookshops. However, although traditional books possess such advantages, they also have some deficiencies. For instance, traditional books are not easily portable so it is inconvenient for

people to carry more once they need and they are vulnerable to water and fire.

Therefore, my view is that we should utilize the e-books approprately, as well as the traditional textbooks because of their diverse functions in our practical daily life, and one thing that we should bear in my mind is that great importance should be attached to both of them. In a sense only when their relationships are balanced could their utilities and functions are brought into full play.

You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the centre Questions 21 to 25 are based on the following passage: More and more, the operations of our businesses, governments, and financial institutions are controlled by information that exists only inside computer memories. Anyone clever enough to modify this information for his own purposes can reap substantial rewards. Even worse, a number of people who have done this and been caught at it have managed to get away without punishment. It's easy for computer crimes to go undetected if no one checks up on what the computer is doing. But even if the crime is detected, the criminal may walk away not only unpunished but with a glowing recommendation from his former employers. Of course, we have no statistics on crimes that go undetected. But it's disturbing to note how many of the crimes we do know about were detected by accident, not by systematic inspections or other security procedures. The computer criminals who have been caught may be the victims of uncommonly bad luck. For example, a certain keypunch (键盘打孔) operator complained of having to stay overtime to punch extra cards. Investigation revealed that the extra cards she was being asked to punch were for dishonest transactions. In another case, dissatisfied employees of the thief tipped off (向……透露) the company that was being robbed. Unlike other lawbreakers, who must leave the country, commit suicide, or go to jail, computer criminals sometimes escape punishment, demanding not only that they not be charged but that they be given good recommendations and perhaps other benefits. All too often, their demands have been met. Why? Because company executives are afraid of the bad publicity that would result if the public found out that their computer had been misused. They hesitate at the thought of a criminal boasting in open court of how he juggled (耍弄) the most confidential records right under the noses of the company's executives, accountants,

2017年6月大学英语六级考试真题及答案解析(第一套) Part I Writing (30 minutes) Directions: Suppose you are asked to give advice on whether to attend a vocational college or a university, write an essay to state your opinion. You are required to write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words. Whether to Attend a Vocational College or a University? It’s an undisputable truth that virtually all high school graduates will encounter the choices between a vocational college and a university. And when it comes to this question, students’ ideas are not cut from the same cloth. In point of which to choose and what to be taken into consideration, my advices are as follow. In the first place, we should be conscious of the fact that both of the two choices have its own superiorities. For instance, a vocational college specializes in cultivating human resources with practical capabilities; while a university serves as the cradle of academic researchers in different fields. Then it does follow that high school graduates should have a clear picture of themselves. That is to say, they should know their merits and demerits and their choices must give play to their strengths whilst circumvent weaknesses. In addition, interest is the best teacher and it’s also the premise of learning on one’s own initiative. Thus interest must be taken into account because it can not only decide how far one can reach academically and professionally but also how happy and fulfilled one will be. In brief, all above just goes to show that there really is no one-size-fits-all answer for the question. The key lies in a clear cognition, accurate self-positioning and the interest of oneself. Only then can every one find a right path that works best for us. Part II Listening Comprehension (30 minutes) Section A Directions: In this section, you will hear two long conversations.

Passage One Questions 52 to 56 are based on the following passage. Like most people, I’ve long understood that I will be judged by my occupation, that my profession is a gauge people use to see how smart or talented I am. Recently, however, I was disappointed to see that it also decides how I’m treated as a person. Last year I left a professional position as a small-town reporter and took a job waiting tables. As someone paid to serve food to people. I had customers say and do things to me I suspect they’d never say or do to their most casual acquaintances. One night a man talking on his cell phone waved me away, then beckoned (示意) me back with his finger minute later, complaining he was ready to order and asking where I’d been. I had waited tables during summers in college and was treated like a peon (勤杂工) plenty of people. But at 19 years old, I believed I deserved inferior treatment from professional adults. Besides, people responded to me differently after I told them I was in college. Customers would joke that one day I’d be sitting at their table, waiting to be served. Once I graduated I took a job at a community newspaper. From my first day, I heard a respectful tone from everyone who called me. I assumed this was the way the professional world worked — cordially. I soon found out differently. I sat several feet away from an advertising sales representative with a similar name. Our calls would often get mixed up and someone asking for Kristen would be transferred to Christie. The mistake was immediately evident. Perhaps it was because money was involved, but people used a tone with Kristen that they never used with me. My job title made people treat me with courtesy. So it was a shock to return to the restaurant industry. It’s no secret that there’s a lot to put up with when waiting tables, and fortunately, much of it can be easily forgotten when you pocket the tips. The service industry, by definition, exists to cater to others’ needs. Still, it seemed that many of my customers didn’t g et the difference between server and servant. I’m now applying to graduated school, which means someday I’ll return to a profession where people need to be nice to me in order to get what they want, I think I’ll take them to dinner first, and see how they treat someone whose only job is to serve them. 52. The author was disappointed to find that _______. [A] one’s position is used as a gauge to measure one’s intelligence [B] talented people like her should fail to get a respectable job [C] one’s occupation affects the way one is treated as a person [D] professionals tend to look down upon manual workers 53. What does the author intend to say by the example in the second paragraph? [A] Some customers simply show no respect to those who serve them. [B] People absorbed in a phone conversation tend to be absent-minded. [C] Waitresses are often treated by customers as casual acquaintances. [D] Some customers like to make loud complaints for no reason at all. 54. How did the author feel when waiting tables at the age of 19? [A] She felt it unfair to be treated as a mere servant by professional. [B] She felt badly hurt when her customers regarded her as a peon. [C] She was embarrassed each time her customers joked with her. [D] She found it natural for professionals to treat her as inferior. 55. What does the author imply by saying “…many of my customers didn’t get the difference between server and servant”(Lines 3-4, Para.7)? [A] Those who cater to others’ needs are destined to be looked down upon.

Part Ⅲ Reading Comprehension (40 minutes) For investors who desire low risk and guaranteed income, US government bonds are a secure investment because these bonds have the financial backing and full faith and credit of the federal government. Municipal bonds, also secure, are offered by local governments and often have___ 36___such as tax-free interest. Some may even be___37___. Corporate bonds are a bit more risky. Two questions often___38___first-time corporate bond investors. The first is “If I purchase a corporate bond, do I have to hold it until the maturity date?” The answer is no. Bonds are bought and sold daily on___39___securities exchanges. However, if you decide to sell your bond before its maturity date, you’re not guaranteed to get the face value of the bond. For example, if your bond does not have___40___ that make it attractive to other investors, you may be forced to sell your bond at a___ 41___, i.e., a price less than the bond's face value. But if your bond is highly valued by other investors, you may be able to sell it at a premium, i. e ., a price above its face value. Bond prices generally___42___inversely (相反地) with current market interest rates. As interest rates go up, bond prices fall, and vice versa Thus, like all investments, bonds have a degree of risk. The second question is “ How can I___43___the investment risk of a particular bond issue?” Standard & Poor's and Moody’s Investors Service rate the level of risk of many corporate and government bonds. And___44___, the higher the market risk of a bond, the higher the interest rate. Investors will invest in a bond considered risky only if the 45 return is high enough.

Part IV Reading Comprehension (Reading in Depth) (25 minutes) Section A Directions: In this section, there is a short passage with 5 questions or incomplete statements. Read the passage carefully. Then answer the questions or complete the statements in the fewest possible words. Please write your answers on Answer Sheet 2. Questions 47 to 51 are based on the following passage. How good are you at saying "no"? For many, it's surprisingly difficult. This is especially true of editors, who by nature tend to be eager and engaged participants in everything they do. Consider these scenarios: It's late in the day. That front-page package you've been working on is nearly complete; one last edit and it's finished. Enter the executive editor, who makes a suggestion requiring a more-than-modest rearrangement of the design and the addition of an information box. You want to scream: "No! It's done!" What do you do? The first rule of saying no to the boss is don't say no. She probably has something in mind when she makes suggestions, and it's up to you to find out what. The second rule is don't raise the stakes by challenging her authority. That issue is already decided. The third rule is to be ready to cite options and consequences. The boss's suggestions might be appropriate, but there are always consequences. She might not know about the pages backing up that need attention, or about the designer who had to go home sick. Tell her she can have what she wants, but explain the consequences. Understand what she's trying to accomplish and propose a Plan B that will make it happen without destroying what you've done so far. Here's another case. Your least-favorite reporter suggests a dumb story idea. This one should be easy, but it's not. If you say no, even politely, you risk inhibiting further ideas, not just from that reporter, but from others who heard that you turned down the idea. This scenario is common in newsrooms that lack a systematic way to filter story suggestions. Two steps are necessary. First, you need a system for how stories are proposed and reviewed. Reporters can tolerate rejection of their ideas if they believe they were given a fair hearing. Your gut reaction (本能反应) and dismissive rejection, even of a worthless idea, might not qualify as systematic or fair. Second, the people you work with need to negotiate a "What if ...?" agreement covering "What if my idea is turned down?" How are people expected to react? Is there an appeal process? Can they refine the idea and resubmit it? By anticipating "What if...?" situations before they happen, you can reach understanding that will help ease you out of confrontations. 47. Instead of directly saying no to your boss, you should find out __________. 48. The author's second warning is that we should avoid running a greater risk by __________. 49. One way of responding to your boss's suggestion is to explain the __________ to her and offer an alternative solution. 50. To ensure fairness to reporters, it is important to set up a system for stories to __________. 51. People who learn to anticipate "What if...?" situations will be able to reach understanding and avoid __________. Section B Directions:There are 2 passages in this section. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 2 with a single line through the centre. Passage One Questions 52 to 56 are based on the following passage.
