本教材在仔细研究目前我国小学使用的各种教材(包括国内自编和国外引进)以及在美国、英国、新加坡和香港等地幼儿园和小学使用的英语教材以及课外读物的基础上,吸收各种教材的精华,并在先进的语言学理论和语言教学理论的指导下,根据我国的实际情况进行编写。该教材在教学指导思想、教学内容、教材体系结构、编写体例等方面进行了一系列的改革。教材的重要特点如下: 1、阶段性:本教材从儿童习得语言的客观规律出发,根据教学大纲对小学英语各个阶段的不同要求进行编写。一、二年级为第一阶段,教学宗旨是“听说为主”。三、四年级为第二阶段,教学宗旨是“继续听说,认读跟上”;五、六年级为第三阶段,教学宗旨是“听、说、读、写”全面发展。 2、真实性:教材的取材力争接近儿童的生活实际和认知水平。首先,教材以儿童感兴趣的话题为中心,结合小学生的思想、学习、生活,选择词频高的词以及典型的句型进行语言知识的教授和语言技能的训练。比如,第一册学习自己的身体部位、儿童喜欢的动物、儿童喜欢吃喝的。例如:Clap your under the book.(这是球;书下面有一支钢笔。)等。一旦学生可以用英语“玩”起来、“动”起来,学习就容易了,简单了,学生兴趣就高了。 4、篇章性:现行教材多是将生词堆积起来,一个课文一下子常常堆积十多个单词,有时甚至多达十至二十个生词。这样,既使教师很难在语篇中教学以便使学生学习真正的语言,又给学生带来巨大的心理负担,最终造成教师强迫学生记忆单词的局面。老师难以教学,学生失去信心,失去兴趣。该教材始终注意生词、难词的合理分布,把所学词、句型放入有意义的语篇中,使学生学习真正可以用来交际的语言。教材中,不仅每个课文是一个有意义的语篇,而且,每个单元的六个课文,都是根据该单元的主题,把意义相关的材料组织起来,成为一个更大的语篇。实际上,语篇教学最能体现语言的交际功能,离开语篇便无从谈论语言的交际功能和交际教学。 5、趣味性:趣味性首先表现在教材内容的趣味性。该教材特别注意把所要教授的内容放入学生感兴趣的语境中。例如,在教授颜色词和句型时,将“白雪公主”引进教材,编出一个连贯的小情景。在教学实验中,我们发现,学生的兴趣非常高,学的非常快。该教材的趣味性还表现在,每课后都有用所学主要词和句型编写的儿歌或歌曲辅助教学,旨在使小学生在轻松愉快、生动活泼的课堂教学活动中学习英语。本册教材特意选取了儿童喜爱的活动(如摸鼻子、拍拍手、跺跺脚、画画儿、涂颜色等),儿童喜爱的动物及其典型活动(如兔子、熊、象、鱼会游泳、猴子会爬树等),儿童喜爱的食物(如冰淇淋、巧克力、可乐、糖果等)以及谈论或者想得到这些食物时的说法为教学内容,对儿童具有极大的吸引力。每个课文之后的歌曲,其歌词是课文中所学主要内容,谱上简单、优美、活泼的调子,极容易上口,容易表演。同时,每个单元基本使用相同的一、两个调子,符合儿童喜欢重复的心理、生理特点。教师可以组织各种各样的活动以及表演,让学生“动起来、说起来、唱起来”。一方面调动学生学习的积极性,同时复习巩固所学主要内容。 现行教材中也有一些儿歌或歌曲,但是歌曲的内容多是脱离所学词、句型的,歌曲中所出现的大量生词,使这些歌曲远远难于所学材料。因此,这种为
