1、开卷有益 Reading Is Valuable
In my opinion, reading is of great benefit to us. For one thing, reading is a good way to make one more intelligent. For another, good habit and active attitude can be formed through it. Just as an old saying goes, books are the ladder of human progress. So important are books that we should attach significance to it.
I go in for reading foreign literature, such as Celebrity Biography and How the Steel Was Tempered. Coming to know more about the author, I always choose to read something concerning theirs unbelievable experience and meaningful events. Realizing the value of time and life by them, I show more respect than sympathy to then. I wonder how they keep a positive attitude towards life.
I have ever read How the Steel Was Tempered, written by Ostrovsky. The hero, Palu, facing unexpected difficulties in life, however, he chose to face bravely but bot to evade. It is his courage that has a strong impact on me. Now, no matter when and where, I try my best to be brave instead of being craven and timorous.
In brief, reading a good book is just like making a good friend. So, don't waste your time. Pick up your book and read it!
2、荒谬的“世界末日”说
12.21, the so called doomsday, is coming. Some people say that there will be a horrible earthquake, and Jesus would take believers to heaven. Those who left behind would suffer great disasters until the earth destroyed. From my point of view, this is totally ridiculous and there is no scientific evidence to support it. This argument only causes people to panic and social unrest, which is of great harmful. Some merchant use this saying to promote their goods. For them, it’s an opportunity to earn money. People are afraid of the doomsday so they blindly buy many things at home to avoid going out. Furthermore, some people even organize some illegal activities. In short, we should not believe such ridiculous saying and live a normal life as ever before. Then, we will find that we pass those days peacefully.
3.My View on Distant Education
In recent years, distant education has generally been brought into the public focus. A large number of universities have offered open courses on the internet. However, just as the saying goes, “so many people, so many minds.” People from different backgrounds take divergent views concerning this case.
Those who have already benefited from practicing it sing high praise of it. They come up with the attitude that distant education has provided a wider way for students to learn various cultures around all over the world. It is a more convenient way for students to broaden their horizon. However, there are also some others who contend that various kinds of open courses on the internet will bring some chaos to students. Students who are exposed to too many different courses and cultures will have difficulty in distinguishing the passive ones and the opposite.

4.桂林之旅 A Visit to Guilin
I hear many people say that Guilin is a beautiful city, but I didn’t go there before. Happily, I got a chance to visit there last month. It’s a small and quiet city. People are friendly, because it’s a famous tourist city. There are many foreigners travel to Guilin. Li River, Two Rivers and Four Lakes, Elephant Trunk Hill and Peak of Solitary Beauty are the most famous views. I visited them all and I think they are amazing. After enjoying myself in Guilin, I visited to Yangshuo by boat. Along the way to Yangshuo, I enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Li River. Yangshuo is a wonderful place, too. The West Street attracts many tourists, especially young people, because there are many bars and clubs there. I didn’t go to the bars because I am a middle school student. Maybe someday in the future, I will. In short, it was really a pleasant trip to Guilin.
5、劳逸结合 Fatigue and Rest
In our modern society, competition has been increasingly intense, especially in large cities. Therefore, people are forced to work much harder than ever before, so that they have much less time to have a good rest. Rest seems a kind of luxury to them. However, I strongly disapprove of the behavior that spending most of time in working and having no rest. I think it’s the high intensity of work that makes rest important and necessary. There’s a saying that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. From my point of view, the dull are both in physics and spirit. Without a good rest, no people can pay all his attention to work and do it well. Therefore, people should learn to combine work and play which helps us go further
6.学会感恩 To Be Grateful
Since we were born as a little baby, we get help from others all the time. Our parents raise us, our teachers teach us and our friends company us. Therefore, it’s important for us to be grateful to those people who give us a hand. Being grateful is a way to show them our appreciation and our love. No one in the world is supposed to love us without any conditions. Moreover, Being grateful to others and to what you get can lead you are ready to help others, too. I think this is the most important impact on people that being grateful. If we are all show our appreciation to others and then help others, we could build a friendly and harmonious society.
7.相亲节目 On Dating Shows
At present, dating shows have been very popular in people’s lives. No matter how busy the people are, they will grasp any chances to watch this kind of shows as much as possible. As the time elapses, a growing number of dating shows have appeared on television.
Many factors account for this phenomenon. To begin with, these shows provide a chance for the single to search for their dates so that they think that they have more opportunities to break away from the single identities and even
get married. Furthermore, some people are on account of amusement to watch this kind of shows. They will feel funny and happy when watching others dating. Last but not least, the funny form and the relax atmosphere of these shows have also made a great contribution to its audience ratings.
However, for my part, I advocate that these dating shows should be restricted to some extent. Some people who have dated in these shows use the artificial identities to cheat others. In addition, these shows have brought some bad impacts on our national spirits because it advocates materialism in some way. Therefore, to avoid these problems, some actions should be taken to restrict these shows
8.《购买上帝的男孩》读后感
Last night, I read a moving short story named A Boy Buys God. Bondi’s parents died in his early age and he is raised by his uncle. But one day, his uncle falls down from scaffold and God want to take his life away. Bondi heard that God is an amazing thing that can save the life of his uncle. Therefore, he goes out with one dollar to buy God. But he doesn’t buy one until the 29th shop’s door opened. It’s an elderly man who is willing to help him after Bondi telling his story. Several days later, Bondi’s uncle gets great treatment by the most outstanding doctors in the world and finally he totally recovery. In the end, he knows what saves his life—love. It’s Bondi’s pure love to him that saves his love. On the other side, it’s his love to Bondi that saves himself. Therefore, we can say that love is mutual and rewarded.
9.同学聚会 A Classmates Reunion
I’m a middle school student in Grade 8. Yesterday was Saturday and some of my classmates in primary school had a reunion at our primary teacher’s home. Our teacher taught us for four years and she treated as her own children. We loved her very much. In the afternoon, we just talked and shared our lives in middle school. Happily, most of us have a rich and happy life. Our teacher told us some interesting stories of her new students. After that, we made a big dinner together. Our teacher is a brilliant cook who can make delicious foods. We all ate much. After dinner, we watched TV for a while and then we went home. It was really a good day.
10.Why Should Students Read Literature?
Literature connects us with past and present humanity. Literary reading promotes the language development and thinking that is necessary for an educated, cultural society. It is our job as educators to put all students in touch with excellent literature, especially those books which have the power to change us in some way. A famous writer once said, “Books that transform me as I read, books that go on working in me afterwards when they have become part of me, often refresh and reinvigorate the language.” There are many valid reasons for using literature as the mainstay of a reading and writing program. All these serve to motivate and promote life-long inte
rest in reading. Here are some:
1. Literature allows meaning to dominate. Students read immediately for meaning and view reading as a thinking process. A story that makes sense is easy to talk about and remember. Reading literature helps students to form their own way of understanding and thinking.
