Reading and writing are in inseparable. Writing without reading just likes source without water or wood without basis. Only by reading tremendous amount, can we write some brilliant works. Since then, how does reading serve writing?

Reading English enriches our vocabularies. V ocabulary is all along the obstruction of our English learning. The limitation of vocabulary makes us able to use only simple and flat words and feel ourselves can’t be expressed. Reading can help us understand and memory words we have learnt better so as to improve our writing competence.

Reading English develops our instinctive feel for the language. By reading a lot, we self-consciously form the cognition to English and develop our instinctive feel for the language. It can stimulate the improvement of our listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Reading English help us accumulate abundant language materials. People usually start practicing writing based on reading others’ excellent works. We should attentively analyze and try to figure out the language features, wording and phrasing, idiomatic expression and regular collocation in the original and consciously recite and imitate.
