The Introduce of Contemporary College English

I have learned Contemporary College English for one and a half year since I entered college. It is a course that students must learn diligently, especially as an English major. I love this course and I would like to introduce it for you.

The intention .The Contemporary College English is the main courses for undergraduate English majors at the fundamental stage, its main aim is to develop and improve students' comprehensive ability to use English. This course is explained through the basic training of language and discourse analysis, so that students improve reading comprehension ability and understand the English expression of various style and features, expanded vocabulary and familiar with English sentence patterns, basic oral and written communication skills, fostering the students' study habits and learning methods, in order to lay a solid foundation in high grade professional learning.

This course has many contents for students to learn. Plans of the book, acknowledgement, texts, vocabulary list and idiomatic expressions and collocations are its contents. From the course, we can learn a lot, for example, the culture of different countries from the different authors’ articles, stories, and plays which are chosen as the texts carefully. We can learn lots of useful vocabulary by learning the sentences. We can learn some famous poems in the book. And we can practice by the task.

On this course’s class which is the student--centered class, the teacher uses interactive teaching methods, and the teacher plays the role of organization and supervision. For example, our teacher gives our students opportunity to do presentations and let us teach other students’ vocabulary. In this way, we can not only learn words, but also develop the students’language proficiency. And on class, the teacher make full use of modern teaching facilities and multimedia technologies, developing listening and speaking practice, rich classroom activities and content, and stimulating students' interest in learning English.

Language learning is to nurture a feeling, and the number is to the accumulation of culture. They say the conditions are ripe. The same logic, attained a certain amount, " language " is created. It should feel up to the idea, the concept into their own minds, English will be able to handle very skillfully. Please note that the amount of accumulated in the basic stage the most important. So we must be based on playing time, and only under the premise of the foundation and lay a solid order to learn English. And this course is a good choice to lay foundation for students’ future, train their language ability and communication ability and in this way students can use language natural and flexible in appropriate occasions.
