Only 20 percent of the optimists died before the study were completed, while 34 percent of the extremely anxious men died of some type of cancer. Instead of stressing about the past or future, focus on the present and relax!

4. Take Selenium(硒)

Selenium is well known for its cancer-fighting properties. In a study of almost 1,000 men, researchers from the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that when men with the lowest initial levels of selenium in their bodies received a daily supplement over a 4 year period, they cut their prostate(前列腺)cancer risk by a remarkable 92 percent. However, it is possible to get too much of a good thing, so monitor your intake of selenium-containing supplements, Brazil nuts, tuna, meats and grains carefully.

5. Eat Sushi(寿司)

Seaweed may not be your idea of a great snack, but it is high in fiber, calcium and iron, and dry, roasted seaweed sheets used in sushi provide the additional benefits of vitamins A and C. 7. Breathe Clean Air

There?s no question that secondhand smoke kills. A recent American Journal of Public Health study showed that nonsmokers working in smoky places had three times the amount of carcinogen(致癌物质)in their urine(尿)than nonsmokers working in smoke-free locations. What?s worse, their levels of the carcinogen rose 6 percent for every hour worked. Nine states have banned smoking in all workplaces, bars and restaurants. The message is clear: Do whatever you can to avoid the cloud of smoke.

8. Break a Sweat

Even a small amount of exercise can offer major cancer-fighting benefits. In a study of 29,110 men published in the International Journal of Cancer, men who exercised just once a week had a percent lower risk of metastasis(转移性) prostate cancer than men who didn?t work out at all. The better the frequency, duration and intensity of the exercise, the bigger the reduction in risk, according to the study.

56. To prevent yourself from catching colon cancer, you should eat ____ as often as possible.

A. sushi

The centenary(百年)of the birth of William Faulkner, one of the great modern novelists, was celebrated in September 1997. Faulkner wrote about the southern states of the United States of America where he grew up, and where his family had an important part to play in the history of that region. His work became a touchstone for insights into the troubled issues of southern American identity, race relations, and the family interrelationships of the old time southern gentry(贵族).

Faulkner was born in New Albany, Mississippi on September 25, 1897. Despite his interest in writing, he left Oxford High School, Mississippi, without graduating. After World War I, he entered the University of Mississippi as a special student, a right to study which was granted to retired soldiers, although Faulkner had only finished training with the Air Force in Canada, and not entered combat(战斗).

Faulkner began to write poems, a verse play, short stories and finished his first novel Sartoris in 1928. His fiction was centered for 14 of the 19 novels published during his lifetime in a fictional region called Yoknapatawpha County. The name is said to come from the Indian Chickasaw word meaning split land.

In December 1950, Faulkner was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. When he accepted it in Stockholm, his speech emphasized that he wished to continue writing, but in a positive way that affirmed the power of humanity to prevail over adverse circumstances. As he said in his speech, he still felt that, despite the threat of nuclear war then hanging over the world, the central concern of the writer should be “the problems of the human heart in conflict with itself”. He wanted the tensions and problems that he had cast the spotlight on in the southern states of America to be resolved by the life-affirming attitudes and action of his characters. Like playwright Tennessee Williams, Faulkner was a major voice who spoke for the troubled heart of the southern states of America. His achievement is all the more remarkable because, as a schoolboy, he was not only a frequent absentee but also reportedly failed to reach pass grades in English class. His collected short stories, novels, poems, and other writings form a legacy(遗产) of literature which casts profound illumination(启发) on the special culture of the South, a culture which developed from a history and social circumstances that were always unique.

From the focus on a fictional county, and by remaining true to his view of a close-knit but real society that reflected the greater world around him, Faulkner in the end fashioned a legend of the Deep South that is one of the major achievements of the

20th century literature.

Baby girls make their way directly for dolls as soon as they can crawl(爬), while boys will head for the toy cars, a study has shown. The findings, the first to show differences in very young babies, suggest there is a biological basis to their preferences.

Psychologists Dr Brenda Todd from City University London carried out an experiment involving 90 infants aged nine months to 36 months. The babies were allowed to choose from seven toys. Some were stereotypically boys' toys — a car, a digger, a ball and a blue teddy. The rest were girls? toys: a pink teddy, a doll and a cooking set. They were placed a meter away from the toys, and could pick whichever toy they liked. Their choice and the amount of time they spent playing with each toy were recorded.

Of the youngest children (nine to 14 months), girls spent significantly longer playing with the doll than boys, and boys spent much more time with the car and ball than the girls did. Among the two-and three-year-olds, girls spent 50 percent of the time playing with the doll while only two boys briefly touched it. The boys spent almost 90 percent of their time playing with cars, which the girls barely touched.

There was no link between the pare nts? view on which toys were more appropriate for boys or girls, and the children?s choice.

Dr Brenda Todd said: “Children of this age are already exposed to much socialization. Boys may be given …toys that go? while girls get toys they can care for, which may help shape their preference. But these findings agree with the former idea that children show natural interests in particular kinds of toys. There could be a biological basis for their choices. Males through evolution have been adapted to prefer moving objects, probably through hunting instincts, while girls prefer warmer colors such as pink, the color of a newborn baby.”

63. Baby boys and girls have different toy preferences probably because _______.

A. baby boys are much more active

B. baby girls like bright colors more

C. there is a natural difference between them

D. their parents treat them differently

64. What can we infer from Paragraph 3 ?

A. Nine-month-old baby boys don?t play with dolls at all.

B. Two-year-old baby girls sometimes play with cars and balls.

C. Parents should teach their babies to share each other?s toys.

D. The older the babies are, the more obvious their preference is.

65. What conclusion did Dr. Brenda Todd draw from the results of the study?

A. Babies? preference isn?t affected by social surroundings.

B. Adults purposely influence their babies? preference.

C. Baby boys preferring to moving toys will be good at hunting.

D. Baby girls preferring warmer colors will be warm-hearted.

66. We may read this article in a ______ section of a newspaper.

A. health

B. science

C. education

D

About this time every year, I get very nostalgic(怀旧的). Walking through my neighborhood on a fall afternoon reminds me of a time not too long ago when sounds of children filled the air, children playing games on a hill, and throwing leaves around in the street below. I was one of those children, carefree and happy. I live on a street that is only one block long. I have lived on the same street for sixteen years. I love my street. One side has six houses on it, and the other has only two houses, with a small hill in the middle and a huge cottonwood tree on one end. When I think of home, I think of my street. Only I see it as it was before. Unfortunately things change. One day, not long ago, I looked around and saw how different everything has become. Life on my street will never be the same because neighbors are quickly grown old, friends are growing up and leaving, and the city is planning to destroy my precious hill and sell the property to contractors.

It is hard for me to accept that many of my wonderful neighbors are growing old and won?t be around much longer.I have fond memories of the couple across the street, who sat together on their porch swing almost every evening, the widow next door who yelled at my brother and me for being too loud, and the crazy old man in a

black suit who drove an old car. In contrast to those people, the people I see today are very old neighbors who have seen better days. The man in the black suit says he wants to die, and another neighbor just sold his house and moved into a nursing home. The lady who used to yell at us is too tired to bother any more, and the couple across the street rarely go out to their front porch these days. It is difficult to watch these precious people as they near the end of their lives because at once I thought they would live forever.

The “comings and goings” of the younger generation of my street are now mostly “goings” as friends and peers move on.Once upon a time, my life and the lives of my peers revolved around home. The boundary of our world was the gutter at the end of the street. We got pleasure from playing night games or from a breathtaking ride on a tricycle. Things are different now, as my friends become adults and move on. Children who rode tricycles now drive cars. The kids who once played with me now have new interests and values as they go their separate ways. Some have gone away to college like me, a few got married, two went into the army, and one went to prison. Watching all these people grow up and go away makes me long for the good old days.

Perhaps the biggest change on my street is the fact that the city is going to turn my precious hill into several lots for new homes. For sixteen years, the view out of my kitchen window has been a view of that hill. The hill was a fundamental part of my childhood life; it was the hub of social activity for the children of my street. We spent hours there building forts, sledding, and playing tag. The view out of my kitchen window now is very different; it is one of tractors and dump trucks tearing up the hill. When the hill goes, the neighborhood will not be the same. It is a piece of my childhood. It is a visual reminder of being a kid. Without the hill, my street will be just another pea in the pod.

There was a time when my street was my world, and I thought my world would never change. But something happened. People grow up, and people grow old. Places changes, and with the change comes the heartache of knowing I can never go back to the times I loved. In a year or so, I will be gone just like many of my neighbors. I will always look back to my years as a child, but the place I remember will not be the silent street whose peace is interrupted by the sounds of construction. It will be the happy, noisy, somewhat strange, but wonderful street I knew as a child.

67. The writer finds it hard to accept the fact that _____________.

A. many of his good neighbors are growing old

B. the lady next door who used to yell at him and his brother is now a widow

C. the life of his neighbors has become very boring

D. the man in his black suit even wanted to end his own life

68. The biggest change on the writer's street is _____________.

A. removing the hill to make way for residential development

B. the building of new homes behind his kitchen window

C. the fact that there are much fewer people around than in the past

D. the change in his childhood friends' attitude towards their neighborhood

69. What does the writer mean by saying “my street will be another pea in the pod”?

A. his street will be very noisy and dirty

B. his street will soon be crowded with people

C. his street will have some new attractions

D. his street will be no different from any other street

70. Which could be a good title for the passage?

C. Memory Street Isn?t What It Used to Be

D. The Big Changes of My Street

Like many other teenagers, you may feel stressed at school. Of course, school stress is not only caused by classes, homework, papers to write, and problems to solve. It is also caused by the heavy work of keeping up with friends, keeping up with life, keeping the parents happy, and the hard task of simply being young and trying to find out what you are going to do in the future. So it may be the best time in your life, but it is also one of the worst.

Luckily, there are some things you can do in order to deal with your stress at school. For example, you can prioritize(确定……的优先顺序) your tasks. Firstly, you need to make a list of everything you need to do, and then find out what needs to be done first, what needs to be done second, then third and so on. Once you put everything in order in this way, it is time to get things done. While you are doing your work, don?t think about your other tasks. Just pay attention to what you are doing at the time until the work is completed. Then, cross it off your list and move on to the next task.

While you are trying to complete your work, remember to take a break so often. Stretch your shoulders and neck every 15 minutes or so. About every hour, stand up and take a quick walk around the room. Just take your mind off your work for a few minutes, and then go back to it. This will give your brain a rest, allowing you to get things done quickly.

When studying, remember to study where you study best. Don?t read in bed if you are only going to fall asleep. Don?t sit at a desk where you don?t have space to spread out all the books you need. Don?t sit in a chair that isn?t comfortable. Find a place where you can concentrate. In this way, your work will get done and you will feel less stressed.

Even though classes are getting you down, you don?t have to let school stress control your life. If you learn to manage your school stress now, you will be able to manage stress much better throughout your life. Even if you get nothing else out of school, one of the most important lessons you can learn from school is how to deal with stress. After all, school stress is still stress.

83. Dreams can be a rich source of i_____ for an artist.

84. Our plans need to be more f____ to cater for the needs of everyone.

第六部分:书面表达(20分)

阅读下面短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

It was 7:30 in the morning. As usual I was on the subway to school. It was so crowded with people that it felt like the air conditioner wasn't working. I was standing there looking around.

Then, I saw an old lady get on the train with a 9-year-old child who seemed to be her grandson. A warm-hearted gentleman generously offered his seat to the old lady. Instead of sitting down herself, however, the old lady called her grandson over and told him to sit. Sooner or later, children mature and step into the complicated world. Love is necessary in the early development of children, yet, to the disappointment of

many, too much love definitely prevents children from learning the rules of the real world. Teaching the child about the rules of society within the family helps the child to achieve success later. By giving up seats to their children, grandparents may destroy kids' best chance for character development.

M: I think I'll have ice cream for dessert. What would you like to have?

W: The chocolate cake looks delicious to me. But I want to lose weight.

Text 2

W: Do you have any plans for this weekend, John?

M: I'm actually supposed to go out of town with my parents. It's my dad's birthday, and they invited my sister and I to go skiing with them.

W: Oh, that sounds nice! I was going to ask you if you wanted to go to the movies with me.

M: How about next weekend?

Text 3

M: Josie, would you mind helping me paint my bedroom tomorrow? My brother was going to help me, but he broke his arm yesterday. I will make you lunch... what do you say?

W: Of course I will help you, Oliver. I am sorry to hear about your brother's arm.

I hope he feels better soon.

Text 4

M: How do you figure out the fare?

W: Well, the first five kilometers are $5, and every extra kilometer costs you $3.

Text 5

W: Do you have any experience doing this kind of work, Mr. Jacobs?

M: I'm afraid I don't, madam, but I've always been interested in this type of work. And I have a lot of other experience, as you can see from my résumé.

Text 6

M: Hello, madam. What can I do for you?

W: My feet hurt. I think I need some new shoes.

M: What size do you wear?

W: The last time I bought new shoes was about a year ago, and at that time, I was a 7.

M: Well, once you get to be in your twenties, your feet stop growing, so you are probably still a 7. But let's measure them just in case.

W: OK… so, what does it say?

M: Well, it looks like you're an 8. No wonder your feet have been hurting you. You've been wearing shoes that are one size too small!

Text 7

W: Whew! Thanks for stopping. Sometimes it can be impossible to get a cab in the rain.

M: No worries. Where to?

W: I'm going to Fifth Avenue and East 22nd Street. No rush at all, though.

M: Well, that's good because it looks like we're not going to be able to move more than a few feet per minute!

W: Well, that's what happens when it starts to rain during rush hour. I'm one of the lucky ones. Usually, I would have an appointment around this time, but today I get to go home early!

M: That's great, madam. I'll try to get you home as early as possible.

Text 8

W: OK, that's a cut! Let's take it from the top, everyone.

M: What was the problem that time?

W: The feeling was all wrong, Mike. She is telling you that she doesn't want to see you anymore, but I want to get more anger from you. You're acting hurt and sad, but that's not how your character would act in this situation.

M: But Jason and Laura have been together for three years. Don't you think his reaction would be one of both anger and sadness?

W: At this point, no. I think he would react the way most guys would, and then later on, we would see his real feelings.

M: I'm not so sure about that.

W: Let's try it my way, and you can see how you feel when you're saying your lines. After that, if it still doesn't feel right, we can go back to the drawing board.

Text 9

W: Hey, welcome to Berlin! It's great to see you again.

M: Yeah, good to see you too! Have you been waiting here at the station long?

W: Only fifteen minutes. But let's get out of this cold and go to my apartment! How are you feeling after that long bus ride?

M: Ah, it wasn't too bad. It was only nineteen hours.

W: That's crazy! You could've flown here from London for 60 euros, and it would only have taken an hour and a half. Was it really worth all that time, just to save a bit of money?

M: Well, it was a pretty uncomfortable ride, to be honest. The bus was starting to smell toward the end of it, and there was a guy next to me who was breathing really loudly while he was sleeping. But the reason I took the bus was because it's more environmentally friendly than flying.

W: I think it's great you want to help the environment. But you look so exhausted right now. I just think you should be a little more careful with your health.

M: Well, I wasn't expecting the bus to be so unpleasant. But you're right. Next time I visit you, I'll probably fly.

Welcome back to Modern Parenting. We've already talked about being open and honest with your kids, but there is one thing that all good parents do, and it's surprisingly simple: read to your kids. Studies show that children are better prepared for school and tend to get better grades later on if their pa rents make a habit of reading to them from a young age. One study from Harvard University found that the number of books in the home was the single biggest factor related to success in school, more than the education or income of the parents! Reading is fun, and it can be an important part of relaxing at bedtime. Best of all, it gives parents an opportunity to communicate with their children and teach them about the world. It's never too early to start reading to your children. Many parents buy books for their kids long before they can talk, and so me even start reading to their children before they are born! Trips to the library or the bookstore can be fun activities for young families to do together. So parents, if you're wondering what to do with your kids tonight, remember: all you need is a good book! That's all for Modern Parenting. This is Lesley, on 105.7 FM, saying good night.

作文

This passage mainly talks about the importance of character development of children by giving an example of an old lady who gives up the seat offered by a gentleman to her grandchild.

It is common in our country that parents or grandparents often spoil the kids. For example, parents or grandparents will buy shoes of famous brands to satisfy their needs, no matter how expensive they are. What?s worse, they provide kids with whatever they want and ask them to do nothing in return.

When these spoiled children grow up, many of them may greatly disappoint

their parents. Some of them even commit crimes. If it happens, who is to blame? I think parents or grandparents are not supposed to spoil kids. Kids should go through hardships or do what they can to help parents or other people. Only by doing so can they be independent and responsible.

高三英语周测试题

虎门中学高三周测英语试题1 第二部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分) A The small coastal town of Broome, in northwest Australia, is a remote village in the vast countryside. There are no traffic jams and hardly any roads. There is only the massive Australian wild land, where some houses are 500 miles apart and some driveways are 50 miles long. There seem to be only two main sources of entertainment out here: the sunset at the beach and Sun Pictures. Sun Pictures is a very different movie theater:The seats are park benches and deck chairs, but you’re also welcome to sit on the grass. It is the world’s oldest outdoor movie garden. Sun Pictures was built in 1916 on the other side of the globe from Hollywood. All the big films were shipped here and the lonely country was amazed. Broome resident Pearl Hamaguchi has never traveled far from home. But in the Sun Pictures chairs, under the deep blue night sky, she has been almost everywhere. “And we came back excited about Gregory Peck,” she recalled. This is one of the few places left in the world where you can see two sets of stars at the same time-----one set in the sky, the other in the film. Each night, dozens of people from around the world line up at the old wooden stand, with no computer in sight, and buy their tickets to the latest films. Sun Pictures is also a museum, exhibiting projectors(放映机) that date back to the silent films, a portrait gallery of the famous people who never knew about this place---- even though they came here all the time. Every once in a while, I’m told, you might find a non-ticket holder in your seat. That’s why it’s always a good idea to shake out your chair to make sure there are no spiders or scorpions. “We’ve only had a couple of scorpion incidents but no one’s been stung yet,” said Aaron Mestemaker, a tourist visiting from Michigan. Sun Pictures is a holy hall of movie history and a reminder that air conditioning and carpet are no match for grass and fresh air---even when the lizards steal the scene. 21. The first two paragraphs want to show that__________. A. living in Broome is inconvenient B. the life in Broome is boring C. few people like to live in Broome D. Broome is simple but vast 22. Sun Pictures is different from other theaters because _________. A. it is the most historical outdoor theater in the world B. the audience can either sit on chairs or on the grass C. it was built by some constructor from Hollywood D. all the films were imported here from Hollywood 23. Gregory Peck is most probably the name of_________. A. a place B. a film C. a movie star D. a country fellow

石家庄二中实验学校2018级英语周考试卷 命题人张建伟做题人殷晓优考试时间8 月23 日 I 阅读理解(共4 小题;每小题2 分,满分8分) Recently, researchers at the University of Toronto figured out a way with a quick video selfie to accurately measure blood pressure with your smartphone’s camera by developing a technology known as transdermal optical imaging (TOI)(透皮光学成像). Cameras on smartphones can catch red light reflected from hemoglobin (血红素)under our skin, which permits TOI to visualize and measure blood flow changes. Researchers measured the blood pressure of 1,328 Canadian and Chinese adults by getting two-minute vide os of their faces on an iPhone. “From the video got by the technology, you can see how the blood flows in different parts of the face and through this flow, you can get a lot of information,” said Kang Lee, lead author of the study. Lee also helped create an app called Anura, which allows people to try out the TOI software for themselves, giving them the ability to record a 30-second video of their face and receive measurements for stress levels and resting heart rate. Lee said more research was needed to make sure that the measurements were as accurate as possible, explaining that the study didn’t test people with very dark or very fair skin. “In order to improve our app to make it usable, particularly for people with hypertension (高血压),we need to collect a lot of data from them, which is very hard because a lot of them are already taking medicine,”Lee explained. “We cannot tell them not to take medicine, but from time to time, we get participants who don’t take medicine so we can get hypertensive people this way.” The scientists said there were many potential applications of the technology, including providing health services for those who lived in remote areas. 1. What is mainly talked about in Paragraph 2? A. Information offered by TOI. B. New findings on hypertension. C. How TOI is put into smart phones. D. How the TOI technology works. 2. What might people benefit from the new technology mentioned above? A. Living a life free from stress. B. Improving the heart function gradually. C. Accessing health services for free. D. Knowing abnormal blood pressure earlier. 3. What can be done for a better Anura? A. Equipping phones with better cameras. B. Allowing phones to record longer videos. C. Collecting data from more diverse samples. D. Persuading participants not to take medicine. 4. Why does the author write this text? A. To predict future applications of TOI. B. To introduce TOI and an app related. C. To describe functions of cameras on phones. D. To evaluate the quality of an app called Anura. II 单项选择(必修五U1-U5;满分15分,每小题1分) 5. 高三英语考试题

高二英语 阅读理解(共两节,满分40分) 第一节(共15小题,每小题2分,满分30分) A Edmund Halley was an English scientist who lived over 200 years ago. He studied the observations of comets(彗星) which other scientists had made. The orbit of one particular comet was a very difficult mathematical problem. He could not figure it out. Neither could other scientists who dealt with such problems. However, Halley had a friend named Isaac Newton, who was a brilliant mathematician. Newton thought he had already worked out that problem, but he could not find the papers on which he had done it. He told Halley that the orbit of a comet had the shape of an ellipse. Now Halley set to work. He figured out the orbits of some of the comets that had been observed by scientists. He made a surprising discovery. The comets that had appeared in the years 1531, 1607 and 1682 all had the same orbit. Yet their appearances had been 75 to 76 years apart. This seemed very strange to Halley. Three different comets followed the same orbit. The more Halley thought about, the more he thought that there had not been three different comets, as people thought. He decided that they had simply seen the same comet three times. The comet had gone away and had come back again. It was an astonishing idea! Halley felt certain enough to make a prediction of what would happen in the future. He decided that this comet would appear in the year 1758. There were 53 years to go before Halley's prediction could be tested. In 1758 the comet appeared in the sky. Halley did not see it, for he had died some years before. Ever since then that comet had been called Halley's comet, in his honour. 1.Halley made his discovery________. A.by doing experiments B.by means of his own careful observation C.by using the work of other scientists D.by chance 2.Halley made a surprising but correct prediction in the year________. A.1704B.1705C.1706D.1707 3.This text in general is about________. A.Halley and other scientists B.the orbit of a comet C.Newton and Halley D.Halley and his discovery 4.Which of the following is TRUE? A.Edmund Halley was an American scientist. B.Halley made his discovery by doing experiment. C.Isaac Newton was a famous mathematician. D.The orbit of a comet had the shape of a round. B Recordings of angry bees are enough to send big, tough African elephants running away, a new study says. Beehives (蜂窝)—either recorded or real—may even prevent elephants from damaging farmer’s crops. In 2002, scientist Lucy King and her team found that elephants avoid certain trees with bees living in them. Today, Lucy wants to see if African honeybees might discourage elephants from eating crops. But before she asked farmer to go to the trouble of setting up beehives on their farms, she needed to find out if the bees would scare elephants away. Lucy found a wild beehive inside a tree in northern Kenya and set up a recorder. Then she threw a stone into the beehive, which burst into life. Lucy and her assistant hid in their car until the angry bees had calmed down. Next,Lucy searched out elephant families in Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya and put a speaker in a tree close to each family. From a distance, Lucy switched on the pre-recorded sound of angry bees while at the same time recording the elephants with a video camera. Half the elephant groups left the area within ten seconds. Out of a total of 17 groups, only one group ignored the sound of the angry bees. Lucy reported that all the young elephants immediately ran to their mothers to hide under them. When Lucy played the sound of a waterfall (瀑布) instead of the angry bees to many of the same elephant families, the animals were undisturbed. Even after four minutes, most of the groups stayed in one place. Lucy is now studying whether the elephants will continue to avoid the sound of angry bees after hearing it several times. She hasn’t tested enough groups yet to know, but her initial (最初的) results were promising enough to begin trials with farmers. She has now begun placing speakers in the fields to see if elephants are frightened away. 5. We know from the passage that elephants may be frightened of . A. loud noises B. some crops C. video cameras D. angry bees 6. As mentioned in the passage, Lucy . A. works by herself in Africa B. needs to test more elephant groups C. has stopped elephants eating crops D. has got farmers to set up beehives on their farms 7. Why did Lucy throw a stone into a wild beehive? A. To record the sound of bees. B. To make a video of elephants. C. To see if elephants would run away. D. To find out more about the behavior of bees. 8. Which of the following is true according to the passage? A. Young elephants ignore African honeybees. B. Waterfalls can make elephants stay in one place. C. Elephants do not go near trees with bees living in them. D. Farmers do not allow Lucy to conduct tests in their fields.
