3.2 Appearance and haptic characteristics
The parts shall exhibit a uniform appearance on their entire surface; they shall conform to the drawing requirements and to the released sample in degree of gloss, color and structure. Pores, coarse cracks and other flaws that adversely affect the specified appearance are not permissible. Degree of glossiness, color and structure are documented in the first-sample test report or development sample test report.
3.3 Coating
process
The hot-embossing process must be coordinated between the component supplier and the film manufacturer. Both parties shall confirm the first-sample test report, meaning that both shall be responsible for fulfilling the specified requirements. Responsibilities shall be distributed as follows:─The film manufacturer shall provide information on the fulfillment of requirements specified in the Technical Supply Specification; he/she shall make processing guidelines available and provide support regarding the application method.
─The supplier shall provide information on the substrate and pretreatment steps, check the requirements at the earliest possible juncture, confirm compliance with the film manufacturer’s processing guidelines and request support regarding the application method.

3.5 Substrate
When selecting the substrate, its suitability for the hot-embossing process shall be considered. According to the state of the art, only ABS and ABS/PC are possible.
The relatively low temperature resistance of the possible substrates must be considered (see Table 2, No. 4 and Section 3.5).

TL 520 07: 2004-02 3.6 Technological
requirements
See Table 2.
The parts must be one week old for the technological tests or they must be aged before the tests for 24 h at +60 °C. Aging and conditioning: 24 h in the DIN 50014 – 23/50-2 standard climate; deviations from this must be noted in the test report.
