The Increase of Car Sales

The Increase of Car Sales
The Increase of Car Sales

As is indicated in the chart, a noticeable trend of annual vehicle sales in China and America can be seen in the pie chart. The overall situation of Chinese car sales is optimistic. What contrast with it is that in the US the annual vehicle sales are getting worse and worse.

What has caused these changes? As far as I'm concerned the following interpretation is the foremost reason. First of all, people in china are wealthier than they used to be. With higher income, they have more spare money to afford a car. Let's see the situation in the US: the economy level of America has reached a peak, the total number of vehicle is nearly saturated. Especially in 2008, financial crisis spread to every corner of the US, even to the world. In those two years the vehicle sales in the US is so bleak. Fortunately, Chinese people are affected so weakly. Vehicle sales are still in a rapid increase.

In the future, vehicle sales in china will be still growing but in the opposite in the US car sales may dwindle at a low rate. As there are too many cars, the problem we have to consider now and in the future is the car pollution and the annoying traffic jam.

As is clearly shown in the chart, there was a rapid increase in the number of annual vehicle sales in China between 2004 and 2010 while the number of annual vehicle sales in the US kept steady between 2004 and 2007 but dropped sharply since the year 2008.

There are several factors leading to the change. To begin with, with the further reform and opening up, the income and living standards of Chinese people have been constantly increasing these years. A growing number of Chinese people can afford cars. In addition, most of American families own over one automobile, and the number of vehicles in the US seems to be saturated. Last but not least, the subprime mortgage crisis that erupted in 2008 has apparently affected Americans' standards of consumption.

As for me, cars do make people's life more convenient. However, the large quantity of automobiles undoubtedly increases the burden of road traffic and aggravates the air pollution in China. In brief, Chinese people had better make wise decisions on the automobile purchase. Buses and bicycles are still the best choice for us if cars are not that necessary.

The chart above reflects a common phenomenon that annual vehicle sales have increased fast in China while in the USA it descends gradually. However, the total number of vehicles owned by people in the United States is still far higher than in China.

The key reason why caused this phenomenon is that, mostly, the level of development of China differs greatly from that of America. As we all know, America is a developed country while China is a developing one, which means China's industry was started later than that in the USA, so the vehicle sales was, at first, in a downturn. Neverththless, with the rapid development of China, vehicle sales is increasing year after year, even faster through the financial crisis, which due to the effective measures of the Chinese government.

However, how to explain the descending trend of vehicle sales in the USA? The most important reason is the financial crisis. The financial crisis has caused a lot of problems and affected the world. For instance, a great number of people lost their jobs so that they couldn't afford a car but thought about how to earn a living more. In summary, the development of China has a steady step. What's more, it's fully demonstrated the power of a government in crisis.
