What is Success

Recently, a heated discussion on what is success is carried out all around. As to the definition of success, people hold different views for different reasons. Those who attach great importance to fortune and fame think that making a lot of money or occupying an important social position is success. Because they think, in modern society, possessing much money and a higher position can make them live in a luxurious and respectable life and feel successful.

While there are other people who argue that the possession of fortune and fame is not real success. They indicate that there is no end in pursuit of more money and much higher positions and excessive pursing of those might cause a person to commit a crime. In their opinion, the real success is the realization of people's goals and hopes which could be in the short term or long term.

As far as I’m concerned, I favor the latter point of view. I believe goals and hopes are the most valuable inner power that makes us to improve ourselves. In order to succeed--- to achieve the goals and hopes, we must make the down-to -earth effort to do things, to realize the short-term goals and hopes step by step and ultimately to realize the long-term ones.
