College Graduates’ Job-Hunting

Nowadays, the employment of college students is becoming more and more of a problem. About a decade ago, university students could find satisfactory and enviable jobs after graduation, while the things are quite different at present. In addition, according to statistics, about 30% of graduate students can't find a job but stay at home after graduation. And I think employment difficulty of college students is due to the following reasons.

Part of the explanation is that lots of college students have no idea about the job market and aim too high. They just have the concept that it is not easy to find an ideal job, but they seldom analyze the job market's need. All they want are "decent" jobs which could offer good salary, comfortable working conditions, and high social status. Consequently, most college students are unwilling to accept vacant jobs they consider not "decent" enough.

Besides the incompetence of the students, another contributing factor is the employers' high standard. The company often demand too much from the competitor. For instance, the bosses hire the experienced

while hey candidates have graduated from the college and never do they have time to practice and gain experience.Some vacancies even only serves for the postgraduate, but a college graduate is competent enough.

Perhaps the fundamental factor that the competition for positions is fierce may also contribute to this situation. The number of college graduates has experienced a dramatic increase these years, which gives rise to the difficulties in job-hunting. Since the number of graduates is enormous in proportion to that of positions, it is definitely true that students may have a hard time hunting their jobs.

Since the causes to the problem are various, I reckon that solution to the problem requires efforts on both the society and the students. On the one hand, more working chances should be created for college graduates. On the other hand, college students should evaluate their ability synthetically, roundly and objectively, and then make full use of their own advantages so as to adapt to the job market
