YouthYouth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing appetite for what’s next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart, there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, courage and power from man and from the infinite, so long as you are young. When your aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you’ve grown old, even at 20; but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there’s hope you may die young at 80.

My parents owned six books between them. Two of those were Bibles and the third was a concordance to the Old and New Testaments. The fourth was The House At Pooh Corner. The fifth,The Chatterbox Annual 1923 and the sixth, Malory’s Morte d’Artliur.I found it necessary to smuggle books in and of the house and I cannot claim too much for the provision of an outside toilet when there is no room of one’s own. It was on the toilet that I first read Freud and D. H. Lawrence, and perhaps that was the best place, after all. We kept a rubber torch hung on the cistern, and I had to divide my money from a Saturday job, between buying books and buying batteries. My mother knew exactly how long her Ever Readys would last if used only to illuminate the hap that separated the toilet paper from its .Once I had tucked the book back down my knickers to get it indoors again, I find somewhere to hide it, and anyone with a single bed, standard size, and paperbacks, standard size, will discover that seventy seven can be accommodated per layer under the mattress. But as my collection grew, I began to worry that my mother might notice that her daughter’s bed was rising visibly. One day she did. She burned everything.I had been brought up to memorize very long Bible passages, and when I left home and was supporting myself so that I could continue my education, I fought off loneliness and fear byreciting. In the funeral parlor I whispered Donne to the embalming fluids and Marvell to the corpses. Later, I found that Tennyson’ s ‘Lady of Shalott’ had a soothing, because rhythmic, effect on the mentally disturbed. Among the disturbed I numbered myself at that time. The healing power of art is not a rhetorical fantasy. Fighting to keep language, language became my sanity and my strength. It still is, and I know of no pain that art cannot assuage. For some, music, for some, pictures, for me, primarily, poetry, whether found in poems or in prose, cuts through noise and hurt, opens the wound to clean it, and then gradually teaches it to heal itself. Wounds need to be taught to heal themselves. The psyche and the spirit do not share the instinct of damaged body. Healing is automatically triggered nor is danger usually avoided. Since we put ourselves in the way of hurt it seems logical to put ourselves in the way of healing. Art has more work to do than ever before but it can do that work. In a self-destructive society like our own, it is unsurprising that art as a healing force is despised. For myself, when I returned to my to my borrowed room night after night, and there were my books, I felt relief and exuberance, not hardship and exhaustion. I intended to avoid the fate of Jude the Obscure, although a reading of that book was a useful warning. What I wanted did not belong to me by right and whilst it could not be refused tome in quite same way, we still have subtle punishments for anyone who insists on what they are and what they want. Walled inside the little space marked out for by family and class, it was the limitless world of imagination that it possible for me to scale the sheer face of other people’s assumptions. Inside books there is perfect space and it is thatspace which allows the reader to escape from the problems of gravity.

一、《做你想做的梦》There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real! When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we dont see the one which has been opened for us.
Dont go for looks; they can deceive. Dont go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

1I am a sensitive person and easy to be moved by the small actions, such as the one who remembers my birthday and sends me the wish. People are impressed by the big movement, like girls always want surprise. When someone give them the surprise, they will be moved and remember it all the time. While if someone prepare the party for her, usually she won’t remember the name of the person, but she will be impressed by the lively atmosphere. The real beauty of life needs us to realize. The person who stand by our side all the time is the one we should cherish. When we feel moved about other people’s story, just think of the people around you, such as your parents and your true friends. They are the people who love you the most. 2Recently, the news reported that one special kind of rhino from Africa just passed away, which meant the disappearance of this lovely creature. What a great pity. The tragedy is caused by the damaged environment, while human being must be blamed for it, because we have done so many bad things to pollute the environment and make the nature lose its balance. In order to make up our faults and save our offspring, it is in need of protecting the environment. As the ordinary people, we can do the small things, such as do not throw away the rubbish and join some activities to bring the world green, like planting trees. Every small act can make a difference. Some day, when we live with the environment friendly, what we do is worth. 3Every year, Spring Festival makes me happy, because I canspend a long holiday to stay with my families. On the New Year’s Eve, all the families got together. We woke up early in the morning and then my mother started to purchase some food to prepare the big dinner. I helped my mother to bring the food. Before dinner, there was a tradition in my hometown. We needed to bring the chicken to take a bow to our ancestors, showing our respect and gratitude. When the dinner’s ready, we ate happily and talked a lot. Then at night, the families pasted the New Year’s scrolls and decorated the house. What a harmonious environment and we enjoyed the family hour. In the next few days, I visited a lot of relatives. It was a good chance for us to communicate with each other. 4My mother is good at making dumplings and I love the flavor she makes. So every time when I see her making dumplings in the quick way, I think it is such an easy thing for me. Last week, I decided to learn making dumplings from my mother and it was such a valuable experience for me. Before starting the main step, kneading the dough took me a really long time. My mother told me that it was a very important step, just like the base of a building. I did not do the base work well, so I passed it and came to make dumpling directly. My mother finished one dumpling only three seconds, but when I made the packaging of one dumpling. It was so hard to close well, and the meat went out. I never expected that making a dumpling would be so hard. 5What is art? When people think about this question, they will naturally think about all kinds of musical instruments or the great paintings in the art museums. Art seems to so far away from the ordinary people, but I don’t think so. Art is everywhere. Forexample, the delicious food that is made by our parents is the great art, and the value of the food is to bring people the great joy when they have a taste of it. The scenery around us is the visible art, when we appreciate it, our mood become eased. Art is something that brings people the positive value for me, so art is around everybody. If we take time to slow down our pace, then we can enjoy art from life and feel the comfortable lifestyle.。

To forgive may be divine, but no one ever said it was easy.
When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your grudge.
But forgiveness is possible -- and it can be surprisingly beneficial toyour physical and mental health.
"People who forgive show less depression, anger and stress and more hopefulness," says Frederic, Ph.D., author of Forgive for Good. "《宽恕的好处》一书的作者弗雷德里克博士说。
“懂得宽恕的人不会感到那么沮丧、愤怒和紧张,他们总是充满希望。
So it can help save on the wear and tear on our organs, reduce the wearing out of the immune system and allow people to feel more vital."所以宽恕有助于减少人体各种器官的损耗,降低免疫系统的疲劳程度并使人精力更加充沛。
”So how do you start the healing? Calm yourself. To defuse your anger, try a simple stress-management technique. "让自己冷静下来。
尝试一种简单的减压技巧来缓解你愤怒的情绪。
Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, someone you love," Frederic says.弗雷德里克建议:“做几次深呼吸,然后想想那些令你快乐的事情,比如自然界的美丽景色,或者你爱的人。
”Don't wait for an apology. "Many times the person who hurt you has no intention of apologizing," Frederic says.
"They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don't see things the same way. So if you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting an awfully long time."
”Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean reconciliation with the person who upset you or condoning of his or her action.
Take the control away from your offender. Mentally replaying your hurt gives power to the person who caused you pain. "不要让冒犯你的人控制你的情绪。
内心里总是想着自己的伤痛,只会给伤害你的人打气。
Instead of focusing on your wounded feelings, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you," Frederic says.弗雷德里克说:“与其老是关注自己受到的伤害,还不如学着去寻找你身边的真善美。
”Try to see things from the other person's perspective. If you empathize with that person, you may realize that he or she was acting out of ignorance, fear -- even love.
