There are many kinds of tigers all over the world, and the largest tiger is the Northeast Tiger. Most Northeast Tigers live in the northeast of China, like Heilongjiang Province and Jilin Province. Because there are many forests and mountains, the tigers usually like living there. In the forests and mountains, there are fewer people getting out and coming in. So the tigers are very free. They can run after each other, catch and eat some small animals, like rabbits and deer. The Northeast Tigers are different from the ordinary tigers. For example, the Northeast Tigers can swim very well, but can't climb the trees. The Northeast Tigers' hearing is the best, and no matter how low the sound is, they can hear it.As the number of the tigers becomes smaller and smaller, we should protect the tigers as well as we can from now on. 1.Most Northeast Tigers enjoy living ________.A.in the grass fields and by the riversB.in the forests and mountainsC.in the deserts and on the hillsD.on the farmlands and in big trees2.In the forests and mountains, there are fewer people getting out and coming in because ________.A.tigers are dangerous to peopleB.they are busy workingC.they don't like tigers at allD.they have no food for tigers3.The small animals are afraid that tigers ________.A.catch them for dinnersB.leave them aloneC.live with themD.hear them playing4.The underlined words “run after” mean ________.A.尾随B.追逐C.追求D.伺候5.Which of the following about Northeast Tigers is TRUE?A.They are good at swimming and climbing trees.B.They can only hear loud voice.C.They can't climb trees but have the best hearing.D.We protect tigers because they become more and more.

Unit 2 The WWF is working hard to save them all.
Pandas are in danger. There are only 1,600 pandas living in the wild today. Zoos and research centres are looking after about 340 pandas. Pandas do not have many babies, and baby pandas often die. The situation is getting very difficult. Scientists are doing a lot of research to help baby pandas live.
Pandas live in the forests and mountains of Southwest China. Each panda needs to eat a lot of bamboo every day. The bamboo forests are getting smaller, so pandas are losing their home. And
there are not many pandas left.
In order to protect pandas in the wild, the government is setting up nature parks and developing other plans. The nature parks will be big and there will be more bamboo to feed the pandas. Pandas born in zoos may go back to live in the nature parks.
The World Wild Fund for nature (WWF) wants to protect all animals. And it chose the panda to be its symbol. We do not want to lose tigers, elephants or any other animals, so the WWF is working hard to save them all.
