类似于He like English.

There is an old saying in China that goes,“The days of the Sanjiu period are the coldest days.” “Sanjiu period” ,which is in Minor Cold, refers to the third nine-day period (the l9th to the 27th day) after the day of the Winter Solstice(冬至).There are many different customs related to Minor Cold in China.Eating hotpotDuring Minor Cold people should eat some hot food to benefit the body and defend against the cold weather.Winter is the best time to have hotpot and braised mutton with soy sauce. But it is important to notice that too much spicy food may cause health problems.Eating huangyacaiIn Tianjin, there is a custom to have huangyacai,a kind of Chinese cabbage, during Minor Cold. There are large amounts of vitamins A and B in huangyacai. As huangyacai is fresh and tender,it is fit for frying, roasting and braising.Eating glutinous rice (糯米饭)According to tradition, the Cantonese eat glutinous rice in the morning during Minor Cold.Cantonese people add some fried preserved (腌制的) pork, sausage and peanuts and mix them into the rice.Eating vegetable riceIn ancient times, people in Nanjing took Minor Cold quite seriously, but as time went by,the celebration of Minor Cold gradually disappeared. However, the custom of eating vegetable rice is still followed today. The rice is steamed and is unspeakably delicious.Among the ingredients (原料),aijiaohuang (a kind of green vegetable),sausage and salted duck are the specialties in Nanjing.21.What do we know about Minor Cold?____A.It refers to the Winter Solastice. B.They eat it for dinner.C.They mix it with many other things. D.They steam it with soy sauce.23.This text may be taken from the ____ column (栏目) of a newspaper.A.travel B.culture C.fashion D.scienceBIt was a cold March day in High Point, North Carolina. The girls on the Wesleyan Academy softball were waiting for their next turns at bat during practice, stamping their feet to stay warm.Eighth-grader Taylor Bisbee shivered(发抖) a little as she watched her teammate Paris White play. The two didn't know each other well—Taylor had just moved to town a month or so before.Suddenly, Paris fell to the ground. “Paris's eyes rolled back,”Taylor says. “She started shaking. I knew it was an emergency.”It certainly was. Paris had suffered a sudden heart failure. Without immediate medical care, Paris would die. At first, no one moved. The girls were in shock. Then the softball coach shouted out, “Does anyone know CPR?”CPR is a life-saving technique. To do CPR, you press on the sick person's chest so that blood moves through the body and takes oxygen to organs. Without oxygen the brain is damaged quickly.Amazingly, Taylor had just taken a CPR course the day before. Still, she hesitated. She didn't think she knew it well enough. But when no one else came forward, Taylor ran to Paris and began doing CPR. “It was scary. I knew it was the difference between life and death,”says Taylor.Taylor's swift action helped her teammates calm down. One girl called 911. Two more ran to get the school nurse, who brought a defibrillator, an electronic device(器械) that can shock the heart back into work. Luck stayed with them: Paris's heartbeat returned.“I know I was really lucky,”Paris says now. “Most people don't survive this. My team saved my life.”Experts say Paris is right: For a sudden heart failure, the single best chance for survival is having someone nearby step in and do CPR quickly.Today, Paris is back on the softball team. Taylor will apply to college soon. She wants to be a nurse. “I feel more confident in my actions now,”Taylor says. “I know I can act under pressure in a scary situation.”24. What happened to Paris on a March day?____A.She caught a bad cold. B.She had a sudden heart problem.C.She was knocked down by a ball. D.She shivered terribly during practice.25. Which of the following words can best describe Taylor?____A.Enthusiastic and kind. B.Courageous and calm.C.Cooperative and generous. D.Ambitious and professional.CElectronic book publishing has many of the same risks and opportunities as electronic music publishing.By delivering text direct to the reader's computer screen, the e-book could cut down costs, and allow creators to deal directly with their audience, bypassing (绕开)traditional publisherand traders. But it also raises the possibility of mass piracy(盗版).Phil Rance, founder and managing director of Online Originals,a London-based e-book publisher, sums it up,“No one wants Napster(在线音乐服务)to happen to books.”Indeed, the most popular MP3 may have put the frighteners on an industry that generally operates some way behind the “bleeding edge”.The Meta Group,a leading US-based market researcher, says publishers are far too concerned about protecting their rights,“We believe all the recent legal control over Napster is like putting a finger in a river that is already overflowing.Publishers need to deal with reality and come up with new ways to develop wide electronic distribution(分发),asking the question,‘How can we use the certainty of wide distribution to our advantage?’ ”At the moment, most publishers would like to limit the use of e-books to the person who bought them,or to the computer used to download them.If that can be done,e-books become just an extra income stream in a publishing industry that would continue to operate the way it does today, according to Terry Robinson, business manager for Adobe's e-paper group.“If you've cracked the digital rights aspect, you've cracked the market,”he says.Robert Nichols,Books Director at BOL agrees,“Rights management is absolutely important.Publishers just say that ‘until copyright is secure,we're not going to talk’.”27.Which of the following can be the best title for this text?____A.The E-book—a New and Big Challenge. B.The E-book—an Extra Income Stream.C.An Economic Rise from E-books. D.Changes Brought by E-books.28. According to the text, what is the similarity of e-books to electronic music?____A.They both result from piracy. B.They both lead to price reductionC.They both avoid industry management. D.They both bring in much money to creators.29.What do publishers care most about e-books?____A.Quality. B.Design. C.Price. D.Copyright(版权).30. From the text,we can infer that ____.A.most publishers prefer e-books for extra incomeB.publishers haven't agreed on rights management up to nowC.the publishing markets should be brought back to normalD.wide use of e-books may increase the incomeDNo one is sure how the ancient Egyptians built the pyramids near Cairo. But a new study suggests they used a little rock‘n’roll.Longago builders could have attached wooden poles to the stones and rolled them across the sand, the scientists say.“Technically,I think what they're proposing is possible,”physicist Daniel Bonn said.People have long puzzled over how the Egyptians moved such huge rocks. And there's no obvious answer. On average, each of the two million big stones weighed about as much as a large pickup truck. The Egyptians somehow moved the stone blocks to the pyramid site from about one kilometer away. The most popular view is that Egyptian workers slid the blocks along smooth paths. Many scientists suspect workers first would have put the blocks on sleds(滑板).Then they would have dragged them along paths. To make the work easier, workers may have __lubricated the paths either with wet clay or with the fat from cattle.Bonn has now tested this idea by building small sleds and dragging heavy objects over sand.Evidence from the sand supports this idea.Researchers found small amounts of fat,as well as a large amount of stone and the remains of paths. However, physicist Joseph West thinks there might have been a simpler way,who led the new study.West said,“I was inspired while watching a television program showing how sleds might have helped with pyramid construction.I thought,‘Why don't they just try rolling the things? ’”A square could be turned into a rough sort of wheel by attaching wooden poles to its sides,he realized. That,he notes, should make a block of stone “a lot easier to roll than a square”.So he tried _it.He and his students tied some poles to each of four sides of a 30-kilogram stone block. That action turned the block into somewhat a wheel. Then they placed the block on the ground. They wrapped one end of a rope around the block and pulled. The researchers found they could easily roll the block along different kinds of paths. They calculated that rolling the block required about as much force as moving it along a slippery(滑的)path.West hasn't tested his idea on larger blocks, but he thinks rolling has clear advantages over sliding. At least, workers wouldn't have needed to carry cattle fat or water to smooth the paths.31.It's widely believed that the stone blocks were moved to the pyramid site by ____.A.rolling them on roads B.pushing them over the sandC.sliding them on smooth paths D.dragging them on some poles32.The underlined part “lubricated the paths” in Paragr aph 4 means ____.A.made the paths wet B.made the paths hardC.made the paths wide D.made the paths slippery33.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 7 refer to?____A.Rolling the blocks with poles attached. B.Rolling the blocks on wooden wheels.C.Rolling poles to move the blocks. D.Rolling the blocks with fat.34.Why is rolling better than sliding according to West?____A.Because more force is needed for sliding.B.Because rolling work can be done by fewer cattle.C.Because sliding on smooth roads is more dangerous.D.Because less preparation on paths is needed for rolling.35.What is the text mainly about?____A.An experiment on ways of moving blocks to the pyramid site.B.An application of the method of moving blocks to the pyramid site.C.An argument about different methods of moving blocks to the pyramid site.D.An introduction to a possible new way of moving blocks to the pyramid site.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

During that time, I helped her do some housework and buy some food. After the first week, I noticed that the food was eaten up very quickly. Then I began keeping an eye on my mum. To my surprise, I found that she would put some of the food into a paper bag and go out with it at about nine every morning. And finally, I decided to follow her. I saw her taking the food to the street children. She would also spend a lot of time talking and playing with them. One day, I talked to a neighbour and found out that my mum was well-known in the area. The children were very friendly with her and even thought of her as their own mother. Then it hit me –why wouldn’t she want to tell me about it? Was she worried that I would stop buying food if I found out? When my mum got home, I gave her a big hug (拥抱).I told her she didn’t need to keep it a secret from me. And she told me something about the children. Some of them lived with an old lady in a small house. Others slept on the street. For years, she was helping the poor street children by giving them food. After she told me everything, I was so moved by how selfless (无私的) she was. She helped others in need. As her son, I was so proud of my mum.I continued to buy food for my mum after that. But I always added one more bag for her other children.45.
