Winning the Battle Against Inflammation: 5 Foods and Spices to Eat NowIt seems like no matter where you turn these days, you hear the word" inflammation." It's no surprise -- our lifestyles have become increasingly sedentary, and many rely on a quick and easy packaged or processed meal to sustain themselves. Add in unfathomable stress levels, allergens and environmental toxins, and is it any wonder our bodies are beginning to go haywire, with inflammation spinning out of control? To a certain degree, inflammation is a wonderful thing. During an acute state, it's our body's way of responding to an infection or injury, sending immune cells toheal the affected area. Unfortunately, chronic states of inflammation can also occur, and our immune system can forget to signal inflammation to shut off. Over time, this nonstop production of immune cells can have serious consequences. In fact, doctors and researchers pinpoint unchecked inflammation as the root causeof many chronic diseases. I once heard a doctor liken chronic inflammation in the body to a rebel army hellbent on destroying its own country. Personally suffering from a severe inflammatory disease, I couldn't help but wonder what role food and diet played. After much research, I found this is a question on a lot of people's mind, from chronic illness sufferers to researchers alike. Today, science is revealing that certain foods -- such as those high in sugars and saturated fats -- can increase inflammation in the body, while other foods can help curb it.While more studies are necessary, the beneficial role of food and diet in relation to decreasing inflammation looks promising. So, if your body is currently waging awar against itself, gear up with the following five foods and spices and win what could be one of the most important battles of your life -- living disease free.Dark green veggies. Apparently mom and Popeye knew best -- you need to eat your greens! Robust research indicates vitamin E has a positive effect against inflammation. This potent antioxidant comes in multiple forms, with studies highlighting alpha-tocopherol as having the ability to not only slow the release of certain inflammatory substances in the body but also protect the body frompro-inflammatory molecules known as cytokines. Top sources of vitamin E include dark leafy greens such as spinach, broccoli, kale, Swiss chard and collard greens. For those not inclined to eat a bowl of vegetables, consider adding a daily green juice or smoothie to get the anti-inflammatory nutrients your body needs.Fatty fish. Unfortunately, gorging yourself at the local fish fry isn't going to work when it comes to reaping the anti-inflammatory benefits of fish. However, baking, grilling or boiling oily fish such as salmon, sardines, tuna, halibut and mackerel will work. All these types of fish are high in omega-3 fatty acids -- an essential fatty acid that helps fight inflammation and promote brain function. Since omega-3 fatty acids cannot be produced by the human body, try to add the above-mentioned fish to your diet several times per week to receive the anti-inflammatory health benefits.Turmeric. This potent culinary spice, and relative of ginger, has been used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years in Ayurveda. It's also been the focus of multiple human trials, as well as more than 700 studies regarding its effect on inflammation, and results are promising. The spice contains more than two dozen anti-inflammatory compounds and can be used to enhance food; it can be taken in supplement form or prepared as a tea. My personal favorite is to make Golden Milk (see below), a delicious recipe touted to relieve colds, flu, inflammation and more.Whole grains. With research showing that 95 percent of the grains we eat are refined, it's time to kick sugary cereals, white rice, white bread and unhealthy pasta to the curb and start adding in healthy whole grains. Whole grains have high levels of fiber, which has been shown to reduce C-reactive protein (an inflammatory marker in the blood). Keep an eye out for whole wheat, oatmeal, bulgur, brown rice, buckwheat and freekeh, an Arabic grain that has four times more fiber than brown rice.Ginger. Though often found in the spice cabinet, it may be time to move this incredible spice into your medicine cabinet. Study after study shows ginger has hard-hitting anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, in addition to anti-ulcer and antioxidant activities. And a recent University of Miami study suggests ginger affects specific inflammatory processes at the cellular level and could one day be used as a substitute for NSAIDS. Ginger is available in whole fresh root, can be crystallized and is also found in powder or capsule form. Dr. AndrewWeil recommends anywhere from 1 to 2 grams of powdered ginger a day forinflammatory conditions, though you should consult with your doctor if you're using it at medicinal levels.Golden Milk RecipeGolden Milk is my favorite way to use turmeric. Plus, this recipe contains coconut oil and black pepper to help your body better absorb the incredible rewards of this spice. Before moving on to the Golden Milk recipe, you'll need to make the turmeric paste:Turmeric Paste1/2 cup filtered water; don't use tap water1/2 tsp ground black pepper (black pepper contains piperine, which can help increase turmeric absorption by a thousand percent!)1/4 cup organic turmeric powderPut all ingredients into a small saucepan and heat on medium, constantly stirring until the mixture forms a thick paste. This should take about 5 minutes. You can store the mixture in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.Golden Milk1/2 - 1 tsp of your turmeric paste1 cup coconut milk1/2 tsp organic coconut oil1/4 tsp ground cinnamon1/8 tsp ground cardamom1 tsp raw honey or pure maple syrup to sweeten*Nutmeg, optionalHeat your milk, cinnamon and cardamom in a small saucepan on medium heat, stirring frequently. Whisk in the turmeric paste, honey and coconut oil and heatuntil steaming, but do not boil. Strain off cardamom and cinnamon, and serve immediately. You can add extra raw honey or nutmeg for additional taste, if desired。

八年级英语作文,介绍芦荟本身的特点全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Incredible Aloe Vera PlantAloe vera is one of the most amazing plants in the world. It's a succulent plant species that belongs to the Liliaceae family. Though it looks like a cactus with its thick, green, fleshy leaves, it's actually more closely related to the lily family. Aloe vera plants are pretty unique and have some incredible properties that make them really useful. In this essay, I'll tell you all about the characteristics of this incredible plant.AppearanceOne of the first things you'll notice about an aloe vera plant is its distinctive appearance. It has thick, elongated leaves that grow outwards from a central stem. The leaves are green and have a slightly ridged surface covered in small whitish spots or specks. The leaves feel really firm and fleshy, but also have a gel-like quality. If you were to cut open one of the leaves, you'd see that inside there are two different parts - an outer green rind, and aninner clear gel. The gel is completely clear and looks almost like jelly. This inner gel is loaded with nutrients and beneficial compounds, which is why aloe vera is so popular for health and beauty uses. The leaves grow directly out of the stem in a rosette pattern. Aloe plants spread outwards from the center, spreading out their leaves in a spiral pattern. In ideal conditions, aloe plants can grow several feet tall, with their largest leaves reaching 2-3 feet in length. However, they're also very resilient and can survive in harsh, dry environments as small ground-hugging shrubs.Growing ConditionsOne of the most interesting characteristics of aloe vera is its ability to thrive in really hot and dry climates. It is originally native to the Arabian peninsula, but grows naturally in most of the hot, arid regions of Africa, India, and other parts of the world.Aloe vera is a succulent, which means it has adapted to store water in its leaves to survive extended periods of drought. Unlike most plants that have thin, flat leaves designed to maximize surface area for photosynthesis, aloe's thick, fleshy leaves allow it to retain water really well. The plant can actually go months without any water at all and not dry out or die.Aloe is able to survive hot temperatures up to around 105°F (40°C). It loves lots of direct sunlight and heat, but can't tolerate any frost or freezing temperatures. In places with cold winters, the plants need to be kept indoors or in a heated greenhouse. Given its preferences for heat, drought, and sunlight, aloe vera grows best in regions with a subtropical or tropical arid climate.Nutrients and Medicinal PropertiesThe reason aloe vera is so popular around the world is because of its incredible nutritional content and medicinal properties. The plant is absolutely loaded with vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants and other beneficial compounds. This makes aloe incredibly useful for health, beauty, and medicinal applications. The clear inner gel of the aloe leaf contains a huge array of nutrients. It's an excellent source of vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12. It also provides important minerals like calcium, magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, sodium, iron, potassium, copper, and manganese. On top of all those vitamins and minerals, the gel contains essential amino acids, fatty acids, polysaccharides, and powerful antioxidants.Aloe vera gel has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. It can help boost the immune systemand has been used for centuries in herbal medicine to treat all kinds of conditions like constipation, burns, skin issues, digestive problems and much more. The leaves are made up of around 96% water, with the other 4% being made up of that potent nutritional mix. Some of the key compounds in aloe that are responsible for its healing properties include:• Acemannan - This is the main active ingredient and a powerful antiviral, antioxidant, and immune-boosting compound• Salicylic acid - Has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial abilities• Lupeol - Has antiseptic and analgesic (pain relieving) properties• Aloesin - Provides anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antioxidant and anti-viral benefitsThis unique combination of water, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids and active compounds is what gives aloe veraits incredible healing and health-boosting abilities.篇2The Awesome Aloe Vera PlantAloe vera is one of the most amazing plants on Earth. It has been used for centuries for its incredible healing properties and cultivated all over the world. While it may just look like a humble, green, spiky succulent, the aloe vera plant is packed with nutrients and compounds that can do wonders for your health and skin. Let me tell you all about this superfood of the plant world!First off, aloe vera is a member of the Asphodelaceae family, which includes over 500 different species of succulent plants. The "vera" part of the name indicates that this is the real, original aloe plant used for medicinal purposes. It originated in the warm, dry regions of the Arabian Peninsula but is now grown globally, including in the U.S., Asia, and Europe. The first thing you'll notice about an aloe vera plant is its thick, fleshy leaves growing outward from a stem base. The leaves can grow up to 2 feet long and are a light green color with serrated edges covered in small spines or teeth. These leaves store water, which allows the aloe plant to survive in hot, arid climates. But the magic is inside those juicy aloe leaves. Cut one open and you'll find a thick, clear gel that oozes out. This gel is packed full of amazing nutrients like vitamins A, B, C, and E, as well asminerals like calcium, magnesium, zinc, and selenium. It also contains enzymes, amino acids, and compounds called polysaccharides that have amazing properties. The gel has been used as a topical treatment for thousands of years to help soothe burns, cuts, rashes, and all kinds of skin irritations. It can also be ingested to treat digestive issues like irritable bowel syndrome. Some people even use aloe vera juice as a healthy drink!Aloe gel has powerful anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, and antioxidant properties. The compounds in the gel can help reduce inflammation, fight bacteria and viruses, protect cells from free radical damage, and cool and moisturize the skin and hair. It's like an all-natural medicine cabinet in a plant! One of the most prized compounds in aloe is acemannan, a polysaccharide that boosts the immune system, speeds wound healing, and has antiviral effects against viruses like HIV and herpes simplex. Aloe also contains plant steroids that reduce inflammation and pain. Other beneficial components include:• Salic ylic acid - has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties• Lupeol - antioxidant and antimicrobial effects• Aloesin - anti-inflammatory plant compound• Vitamins C and E - antioxidant effects• Minerals like magnesium, zinc, calcium - important for healthWith all these superhero ingredients, it's no wonder aloe has been revered as a medicinal plant for centuries by ancient cultures like the Egyptians, Greeks, Mexicans, and Indians. These days, aloe is still widely used in skin care, cosmetics, and alternative medicine practices. When you cut open an aloe leaf, the clear gel inside is called the parenchyma tissue. This is the good stuff you want to use on your skin or ingest. The thick outer green rind is called the pericyclic tubules and it contains a bitter yellow substance called aloin that you don't want. Aloin is a laxative which can cause stomach cramps and discomfort if ingested in large amounts. To enjoy the maximum benefits of aloe, look for products that contain 100% pure aloe gel with no added ingredients, dyes, or preservatives. You can simply cut open a leaf and apply the fresh gel directly to burns, cuts, rashes, sunburns, or irritated skin. Drink aloe juice to help with indigestion, inflammation, boosting immunity, and detoxing.Aloe vera lotions, creams, and gels are also popular for hydrating skin and hair and reducing signs of aging like wrinkles and dark spots. Many people use aloe to help fade stretch marks and scarring. The nutrients in aloe penetrate into the deeper layers of skin to nourish and heal.Of course, like anything, using too much aloe or ingesting large amounts can have side effects like abdominal cramps, diarrhea, or allergic reactions in some people. But overall, aloe vera is incredibly safe for topical use and small oral doses. Scientists continue to study the medicinal powers of this little green succulent.Whether you want to soothe a sunburn, aid digestion, hydrate your skin and hair, or just drink a healthy beverage, aloe vera should be your new go-to plant. With its myriad of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and healing compounds, adding some aloe into your life is an easy way to improve your overall health from the inside out. This remarkable succulent truly is a magical, all-natural medicine cabinet in the form of a plant. So appreciate the awesome aloe vera for its abundant nutrients and uses the next time you see this spiky little guy growing in someone's garden! You'll quickly realize why it's been valued by humans for thousands of years.篇3The Wonderful World of Aloe VeraAloe vera is one of the most incredible plants on Earth in my opinion. My mom has had an aloe plant in our kitchen for years and I've always been fascinated by its thick, spikey leaves and the clear gel inside. But it wasn't until I had to do a research project on it for science class that I really learned about all the amazing properties of this magical succulent.First of all, aloe vera is a member of the Liliaceae family and is a perennial, drought-resistant, succulent plant. It originates from the Arabian Peninsula but can grow pretty much anywhere that is relatively warm and dry. The name aloe comes from the Arabic word "alloeh" meaning "shining bitter substance" referring to the gel inside the leaves. Vera means "true" in Latin. One of the most striking features of the aloe plant are its large, thick leaves that can grow up to 40 inches long. The leaves are green with serrated edges and small spines that run along the leaf margins. If you were to cut open one of the leaves, you would find a thin layer of green material called the rind, someyellow sap, and a clear, gel-like substance called the mucilaginous gel or just aloe gel for short. This clear gel is where all the magic happens! The gel makes up around 0.5-1% of the total composition of the leaf and contains a mind-blowing 75 potentially active components including vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, and active compounds. Let me list some of the key ingredients that make aloe so special:Vitamins - It contains Vitamins A, C, E, folic acid, choline, and vitamin B12. Vitamin C and E are antioxidants that fight against free radicals.Minerals - It has calcium, chromium, copper, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium, and zinc which are essential for the body.Enzymes - It contains enzymes like amylase and lipase that help break down fat and sugar.Amino Acids - It has 20 of the 22 amino acids needed by humans and 7 of the 8 essential ones that we cannot produce.Active Compounds - Most importantly, it contains compounds like acetylated mannans, polymannans, anthraquinone glycosides, and lectins which have incredible anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. All of these nutrients work together in a synergistic way to provide aloe with its awesome healing abilities. It's like a powerhouse of nature coming together in one plant! No wonder aloe has been used for medicinal purposes dating back thousands of years to ancient Egypt, Greece, India, Mexico, and Japan. In ancient times, the thick leaves were ground into a pulp and used for treating wounds, hair loss, and digestive issues. In the 1930s, it was successfully used to treat radiation burns from X-rays.In modern times, aloe is probably most well-known as a topical treatment for minor burns, cuts, eczema and other skin conditions. When applied to the skin, it can reduce pain, inflammation, and promote faster healing of wounds due to its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. That's why it's found in so many beauty products, cosmetics and sunburn treatments. But the benefits of aloe extend far beyond just skin care applications. Researchers have found that when ingested orally, it can help with digestion by reducing unhealthy bacteria and yeast in the gut. The gel is a powerful laxative that can relieve constipation. It may also help lower blood sugar levels indiabetics and has anti-inflammatory effects that could potentially help with arthritis. There's even some evidence that compounds in aloe could help inhibit the growth of cancerous tumors and fight against the virus that causes AIDS. Scientists are working to understand the exact mechanisms behind these potential benefits. With all these amazing healing properties, you'd think aloe would be a major crop grown around the world. But actually, it is primarily cultivated in just a few regions like the Caribbean islands, Mexico, Australia, Bangladesh, Cuba, India, Jamaica, and certain parts of the U.S. like Florida and Texas. The reason aloe isn't grown on a bigger scale is because of the difficulties in processing and preserving the leaves long-term to extract the beneficial gel. The leaves start to break down their mucilaginous gel very quickly once they are removed from the plant. Advanced techniques involving cold processing and lyophilization (freeze-drying) are needed to stabilize and concentrate the gel for commercial uses.So while aloe seems like a miracle plant that could solve so many ailments, getting stable aloe products into the hands of consumers is where the biggest challenge lies currently.Researchers are working hard to optimize processing methods and standardize commercial aloe products. In the meantime, many people are simply growing aloe plants in their homes or gardens. The plants are incredibly easy to take care of as they can survive in hot, dry climates with very little watering required. You just need to pot them inwell-drained soil or sand and put them in a sunny spot. Then you can periodically snap off one of the outer leaves, cut it open, and use the fresh gel directly on burns, cuts or for moisturizing skin and hair. It's effortless to have your own supply of this incredible natural healer right at home.Aloe vera really is one of the most useful, fascinating plants out there in my opinion. Even after doing all my research on it, I feel like I've just scratched the surface of all its potential benefits and applications. Modern science is still working to fully understand the medicinal properties of this ancient plant. But one thing is for sure - aloe is a gift from nature that has been healing humans for millennia and will undoubtedly continue to amaze us going forward. I have a deep respect for the power packed into those humble, spiky green leaves!。

In this study, we performed an oxidative polymerization of rutin using Myceliophthora laccase as catalyst in a mixture of methanol and buffer to produce a flavonoid polymer and evaluated antioxidant properties of the resultant polymer. Under selected conditions , the polymer with molecular weight of several thousands was obtained in good yields. The resulting polymer was readily soluble in water, DMF, and DMSO, although rutin monomer showed very low water solubility. UV measurement showed that the polymer had broad transition peaks around 255 and 350 nm in water, which were red-shifted in an alkaline solution. Electron spin resonance (ESR) measurement showed the presence of a radical in the polymer. The polymer showed greatly improved superoxide scavenging activity and inhibition effects on human low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation initiated by 2,2‘-azobis(2-amidino-propane) dihydrochloride (AAPH), compared with the rutin monomer. The polymer also protected endothelial cells from oxidative injuryinduced by AAPH as a radical generator with a much greater effect than the rutin monomer.芦丁,槲皮素芸香糖苷,是最著名的黄酮类糖苷之一,广泛存在于很多植物中。

September 20111079Regular ArticleChalcones have been very attractive starting materials inmedicinal chemistry from the initial years: they are easy toprepare with large variability at the two aromatic rings andthe enone provides a bifunctional site for 1,3-dinucleophilesaffording several heterocyclic ring-systems while incorporat-ing other diversity elements.1)Pyrimidine derivatives havebeen the subject of substantial attention by synthetic and me-dicinal chemists because of the role of this heteroaromaticring in many biological activities such as anticancer,2)anti-viral,3)antitumor,4)anti-inflammatory,5)antimicrobial,6)anti-fungal,7)antihistaminic,8)and analgesic activities.9)Novel immunosuppressive agents like 2-aminoquinazo-lines10)and aminopyrimidine amides11)were target compo-nents of signal transduction pathways mediated by the T cellreceptor (TCR) may be useful as therapies for T-cell-medi-ated inflammatory or autoimmune diseases such as rheuma-toid arthritis, polyarthritis scleroderma, inflammatory boweldisease, type 1 diabetes, myasthenia gravis and lupus.12)Overthe past few years, IkB kinase (IKK) emerged as a prime tar-get for the development of novel anti-rheumatic and anti-inflammatory drugs and also found that IKK2 is a key playerin the transduction of pro-inflammatory signals.13,14)Adeno-sine kinase (AK) inhibition is a more effective mechanismfor increasing extracellular adenosine (ADO) to limit tissuedamage and restore normal function by activating membersof the P1 receptor family and these have been found to inhibit AK for controlling metabolic stress and trauma.15)Literature revealed that the some substituted pyrimidines actas novel and potent TRPV1 antagonists for the treatment ofhyperalgesia.16,17)In view of these references, the synthesis of a new seriesof 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyrimidines are now reported. The de-sired target compounds (5a—m) were prepared from the 1,3-diarylpropenones (3a—m)18,19)and guanidine (4) by reflux-ing them together in a basic alcoholic media (Chart 1). Someauthors gave different mechanistic suggestions of their exper-imental findings, where e.g.either hydrogen evolution20)orhydride ion migration21)was considered for pyrimidines for-mation and all these synthesized pyrimidines (Table 1) werescreened for their analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity.

Results and DiscussionChemistryTarget compounds, 5a—mwere synthesizedby the reaction which proceeds either by 1,2-addition and/or1,4-addition of the amino group of guanidine to the ketone, followed by cyclization to give the corresponding 2-amino-4,6-disubstituted pyrimidine derivatives 5a—m.22)The struc-ture of the products, 5a—m, was established spectroscopi-cally. Thus, their IR spectra show two bands in the regions,1640—1610cmϪ1and 1375—1350cmϪ1characteristic of thepyrimidine system, and three bands in the regions, 3490—3460cmϪ1, 3375—3300cmϪ1, and 3200—3100cmϪ1(nNH2:free and H-bonded). Chalcone derivatives (3a—m) were prepared by condensing 4-aminoacetophenone with various substitutedaromatic and hetero aromatic aldehydes according to Claisen–Schmidt condensation. These chalcones, on reac-tion with guanidine hydrochloride under basic alcoholic conditions gave 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyrimidines (5a—m)in quantitative yields. All the newly synthesized pyrimidines were characterized by means of IR, 1H- and 13C-

NMR, Electron Ionization (EI)-mass and elemental analyses and screened for anti-inflammatory and analgesicactivities by in vivo. 2-Amino-4-(4-aminophenyl)-6-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)pyrimidine (5b) and 2-amino-4-(4-amino-phenyl)-6-(3-bromophenyl) pyrimidine (5d) were found to be the most potent anti-inflammatory and analgesicactivity compared with ibuprofen, reference standard. And also it was found that compound 5b identified as leadstructure among all in both the activities. Pyrimidines which showed good anti-inflammatory activity also dis-played better analgesic activity.
