2020年10月全国自考英语阅读一真题及答案

2020年10月全国自考英语阅读一真题及答案

2020年10月全国自考英语阅读一真题及答案仔细阅读Many studies suggest that our personalities remain fairly stable, even over t he course of decades. Yet a small but long-running study finds that traits related to dependability differ greatly betwee n adolescence and late life. The findings raise new questions and highlight t he challenges in trying to track a person's defining characteristics over man y years. In the new research, published in December 2016 in Psychology an d Aging, researchers in the U. K. reached out to a group of 635 77-year-olds from Scotland who had taken part in a study when they were 14. Back then, their teachers had rated them on six personality characteristics relate d to dependability: self-confidence, perseverance (坚定), mood stability, conscientiousness (认真) , originality and desire to be better than others. Some 60 years later a t otal of 174 participants from the original study rated themselves on the sa me six traits and had a close friend or relative rate them as well. Lead autho r Ian Deary, a psychologist at the University of Edinburgh, expected, based on earlier findings, that dependability scores might remain stable over time . In fact, he and his colleagues found no relation between ratings for depen dability-related traits over the 63-year span studied. (Deary emphasizes that his findings apply only to these six trait—not overall personality.) One of the study's strengths is that it covers such a long period, but this characteristic also makes the research challenging. Nat e Hudson, a social psychologist at Michigan State University who was not in volved in the study, points out that the lack of personality stability could be the result of having different people rate the participants. Ideally, the same person would rate a subject's personality at both time points when assessm ents were made. In decades-spanning studies, many subjects go missing, die or choose not to participate in follow-up assessments. Deary and his colleagues had only 174 of the original partic ipants, a number that makes it tough to find subtle, but real, correlations in sets of data. " It is difficult to know from their study alone whether there is truly zero stability in personality from age 14 to 77, " Hudson says. " Deary's work moves the field forward—but more research is needed to get a full picture of how personality evolves throughout a lifetime. "【正确答案】1.What do many studies suggest about a person's personality?(A)It is offensive during adolescence.(B)It becomes split in middle age.(C)It is lovable in late life.(D)It remains stable.【正确答案】D【试题解析】事实细节题。

It can be risky for parents to raise the issue of eating habits and weight with their kids.“No kid ever lost weight because his mother told him he was fat,” a friend told me when I was worried about my son’s weight. It turns out she was right, according to a new study. The study was directed by Dr. Berge at University of Minnesota. She found that kids whose parents discussed eating in a healthy way were les. s likely to have eating problems. But 64% of the kids whose parents focused on their weight turned to unhealthy eating behaviors. Some kids went on extreme diets, and others even ate no food. So eating disorders were caused. Things were worse when fathers joined in the discussions with their daughters and focused on weight. “Fathers should never comment on their daughters’weight,” says Berge.Instead, she suggests, fathers should focus on their daughters' interests. That can help them feel loved and confident enough to work on their weight issues. How should parents talk to kids about. eating behaviors? According to Berge, they should avoid focusing on how much their kids weigh. They should talk to them about being healthy. Don't compare them with others. Ideally, both parents should share the responsibility. If that' s not possible, choose the parent whose words cause the least amount of stress and who demonstrates healthy eating.11. You copy a paragraph and paste it into your report. Then you continue your research. But you just made a big mistake. You committed plagiarism. Plagiarism is when you use someone else' s words or ideas and pretend that they are yours. It' s not allowed in school, college, or beyond.②The word" plagiarism" comes from Latin. It means stealing a person' s ideas. But it' s not always easy to tell what is plagiarism and what is not. Sometimes, it's accidental. You really intended to do your own work, yet ended up with some sentences that sound just like something you’ve read.③Though plagiarism can be accidental, it's sometimes done on purpose. That' s just being lazy. By copying whole paragraphs from different places, you don't have to spend the time thinking about the subject, gathering your own thoughts about it, and then putting them into original words. Cut, paste, and you’re done.④Most schools are pretty strict about plagiarism, If you’re caught, your graduation will be delayed or worse. At the very least, you’re probably going to fail the assignment. When you’re older and in college, some schools will kick out students who plag iarize. When you’re kicked out of one college, it can be hard to get into another.⑤To be on the safe side, always make it clear where the information comes from. You need to write references. That’s a list of the sources you used for a project or report. To do that, you’re need to know the author, the title, and the date it was published. If you write something really great, maybe some day someone will quote you in a report.Task 116. Paragraph①:17. Paragraph②:1 8. Paragraph③:19. Paragraph④:20. Paragraph⑤:Task 221. You commit plagiarism when you ________22. Sometimes it is hard to tell whether_________23. Copying whole paragraphs can ____________.24. Once caught for plagiarism,_______________25. Booking Online and Saving the EnvironmentWhen you are looking to book a holiday, it is unlikely that you will think about how green your booking decision is, but it is something that you should think about.By "green" we mean the impact on the environment. When looking to book a holiday, you will probably find that you are faced with two main decisions. The first is to go into a travel agency, pick up brochures, read through them and go back with just one and book with the travel agents directly over the phone. The second is to go onto the Internet. The Internet holds many advantages over the travel agents. The main one is convenience. You can go online to look at holidays at any time of the day.The travel agents, however, are usually very busy at times when people can (actually)go, i.e. lunch hours or at the weekend. You could use the telephone, but you wouldn't be able to see the pictures or the details (of the holidays), so you would probably besent a brochure anyway. There are websites on the Internet that make shopping for holiday deals much easier. These websites are known as price comparison websites. They search through lots of different tour operators, and the results are displayed on one page, from which you can choose.Compared with the travel agencies, booking online is greener. The piles of brochures are definitely not green, and the amount of unnecessary paper used can not be good for the environment. Red Nose DayRed Nose Day (RND) is a well-known event in the UK. The aim of the day is to raise money for Comic Relief. This is a charity that helps people in need in Africa and in the UK.Comic Relief was started in 1985 by Richard Curtis. He wrote the famous films “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “Notting Hill”. Richard started Comic Relief in response to the severe famine in Ethiopia. It’s called Red Nose Day as on this day many people buy a plastic red nose to wear! The money made from selling red noses goes to the charity.Red Nose Day takes place every two years in the spring. It is now so well established that many people consider it to be an unofficial national holiday. The slogan for the last RND was “Do Something Funny for Money.” The money that was collected was used to help fund projects in such areas as education and mental health. Money-raising events take place on this day all over the country and many schools participate. People also donate money by post, inbanks, by phone using a credit card and online. In the evening of Red Nose Day a telethon takes place on the BBC TV channels. Those Who Ride on Two Wheels In the United States there are six million tennis players and twelve million golfers. These figures would not surprise most people. But many would be surprised to learn that twenty million Americans ride motorcycles (摩托车).Few people realize that motorcycling is fast becoming one of America’s most popular sport s.According to the Cycle News, many kinds of people enjoy motorcycling. They include black people and white people, businessmen, professionals, and blue-collar workers. Among them, about 55% are businessmen, 3% are in the professions and 9% in government service.Such information is offered by the Cycle News in the hope of improving the general public’s impression of the sport. The public has tended to believe that all motorcyclists are wild and lawless young men. There are several things about motorcycling that the average citizen dislikes.A motorcyclist’s appearance has something to do with this dislike. Motorcyclists often look dirty; in fact, they are dirty. On the road, there is little to protect them from mud. For practical reasons, they often dress in old clothing which looks much less respectable than the clothing of people who ride in cars. For the same reason, motorcyclists usually wear dark colors. Perhaps this helps to explain why they are sometimes suspected of having bad natures.Probably motorcycles themselves also produce anger and fear. They are noisy, though some trucks are even noisier. But trucks are acceptable because they perform a needed service. Motorcycles, on the other hand, make an uncomfortable noise just to give their riders pleasure. Roaring along quiet streets, they wake sleeping families and make babies cry.Yet, as motorcycling becomes more and more common, it will be interesting to see how people in general feel about the sport. Perhaps it will someday become as ‘^respectable’’ as tennis or golf.11、According to the text, more and more Americans like___.A.playing tennisB. playing golfC. motorcyclingD. car-racing12、According to the Cycle News, over half of the motorcyclists are _____•A. black peopleB. white peopleC. businessmen .D. professionals13、The Cycle News wants to_________A. make motorcyclists lawful citizensB. improve the image of motorcyclingC. persuade people to buy motorcyclesD. raise the status ofblue-coUar workers14、Motorcyclists usually wear dark colors because_________.A. they want to be respectableB. they want to be impressiveC.the colors look differentD. the colors suit their sport15、Some people dislike the motorcycle because it is___________.A.noisyB. heavyC. costlyD. illegal第三部分:概括段落大意和补全句子(第16?25题,每题1分,共10分)阅读下面短文,请完成短文后的2项测试任务:(1)从第16?19题后所给的5个选项中为第0?©段每段选择1个正确的段落大意;(2)从第20?25题后所给的7个选项中选择6个正确选项,分别完成每个句子。
