Once upon a time, in the vast and ancient land of China, there lived a people whose rich cultural heritage was woven into the very fabric of their existence. Among the many captivating stories that have been passed down through generations, one particular myth stands out, enchanting the hearts and minds of all who hear it. This is the tale of the Goddess of the Moon, a celestial being whose legend has transcended the boundaries of time and space. In the celestial realm, where the stars twinkle like diamonds in the night sky, there resided a beautiful and benevolent goddess known as Chang'e. Her radiant beauty was matched only by the kindness and wisdom that emanated from her very being. Chang'e was entrusted with the sacred duty of guarding the elixir of immortality, a precious gift bestowed upon her by the Jade Emperor, the ruler of the heavens. One fateful day, a wicked and cunning archer named Hou Yi stumbled upon the elixir, determined to seize it for his own selfish desires. Sensing the impending danger, Chang'e knew she had to act quickly to protect the sacred treasure. In a desperate act of heroism, she swallowed the elixir, preventing Hou Yi from obtaining it.Instantly, Chang'e began to ascend towards the heavens, her body transforming into a luminous orb that would forever grace the night sky. As she rose higher and higher, she caught a glimpse of her beloved husband, Hou Yi, who had been transformed by the elixir's power and now stood as a powerful immortal archer.Hou Yi, filled with a mix of sorrow and regret, watched helplessly as his wife disappeared into the celestial realm. He pleaded with the Jade Emperor to allow him to join Chang'e, but the Jade Emperor, understanding the gravity of the situation, deemed it necessary to keep the two lovers separated. And so, Chang'e became the Goddess of the Moon, her gentle and radiant presence illuminating the night sky for all eternity. Hou Yi, in his immortal form, was tasked with guarding the sun, ensuring that the cycle of day and night continued uninterrupted. The story of Chang'e and Hou Yi has become a beloved part of Chinese folklore, passed down through generations and celebrated during the Mid-Autumn Festival, a time when the moon is said to be at its brightest and most beautiful. On this occasion, families gather together to admire the moon, sharing mooncakes and reflecting on the timeless tale of love, sacrifice, and the eternal bond between the Goddess of the Moon and her devoted husband. The myth of Chang'e and Hou Yi is not just a captivating story; it is a testament to the richness and depth of Chinese mythology. It speaks to the universal themes of love, duty, and the enduring power of the human spirit in the face of adversity. For those unfamiliar with the cultural traditions of China, this tale offers a glimpse into the country's vast and fascinating tapestry of legends and beliefs. As the Goddess of the Moon continues to grace the night sky, her story remains a cherished part of Chinese heritage, inspiring awe and wonder in all who encounter it. Through the retelling of this timeless myth, we are reminded of the enduring power of storytelling and the ability of ancient tales to transcend the boundaries of time and space, connecting us to the rich cultural tapestry of the world.。

《宾虚》Ben-Hur(1959年)

chaos: ['keɪɒs] n. chaotic: [keɪ'ɒtɪk] adj.

English: Ancient Egyptian mythology is a rich tapestry of gods, goddesses, and legends that has fascinated people for millennia. At the heart of this mythology is the concept of Ma'at, the principle of truth, balance, order, harmony, law, morality, and justice. The Egyptians believed that Ma'at was essential for the functioning of the universe and that the gods themselves were bound by its laws. The pantheon of Egyptian deities was vast and complex, with gods and goddesses representing various aspects of nature, human emotions, and societal roles. Among the most prominent were Ra, the sun god and creator of the world, Isis, the goddess of magic and motherhood, Osiris, the god of the afterlife and resurrection, and Horus, the godof kingship and the sky. These gods were often depicted in human or animal forms and were worshipped in temples throughout Egypt. The mythology also included epic tales such as the story of Osiris and Isis, which explored themes of death, rebirth, and the eternal struggle between order and chaos. The ancient Egyptians believed in an afterlife where the soul would be judged by Osiris and, if deemed worthy, would live eternally in paradise. Their intricate burial rituals and elaborate tombs reflected this belief in the importance ofpreparing for the journey to the afterlife. Overall, Egyptian mythology not only provided explanations for natural phenomenabut also offered moral guidance and a sense of meaning and purpose to the lives of the ancient Egyptians.
