Unit 9 Everything is made in China
一、教材分析
1.教学内容
本课时系教材《英语2》(基础模块高教版)第九单元的第一课时,该单元主要是关于物品材料、产地和询问物品信息的话题,该话题与学生的生活联系密切,能引起学生的共鸣。

第一课时的内容包括Lead-in & Listening and speaking两部分,主要内容是关于物品构成材料的词汇和购物的对话。

这些内容为整个单元的学习活动做语言的必要准备,了解物品构成材料的说法以及复现、学习购物所需句型,同时也为完成本单元的任务做语言上的铺垫。

2.教学重点、难点
(1)教学重点
①通过对寻找身边材料和观看图片,学生能听懂关于物品构成材料和商品信息的词汇
与句型。

②通过对话学习,学生能够进行顾客与售货员之间的对话。

(2)教学难点
学生能在真实的情境中进行顾客与售货员之间的对话。

二、教学目标
1.知识目标
(1)学生能够掌握关于物品构成的材料和商品信息的词汇,如:glass, cotton, plastic, wood, stone, wool, silk, steel, leather, size, price, material, color, place of production, design, be made of, medium, etc。

(2)学生能掌握购物时所使用的句型,如:
What can I do for you?
What color do you prefer?
I want a large/ medium/ small size.
What is it made of?
Where is it made?
2.能力目标
(1)学生能听懂购物中顾客与营业员的对话。

(2)学生能用基本句型进行购物对话。

3.情感目标
通过口语交流复习、深化购物用语并表达物品产地,体会身为中国人的骄傲。

三、教学步骤
Step I. Greeting
Greets the whole class as usual
Step II. Revision
Gets the students to read the words they have learnt last period after the teacher. Step III Lead-in
The teacher takes out a toy and let the students to guess what the material it is. Then have a brainstorming
Teacher: What materials are they?
Ask students to discuss what materials they can find around them in the classroom. Promotion: What’s your T-shirt made of?
What’s the table made of?
1.Match the objects with their materials. (Activity 1 )
The teacher shows the pictures and words on the screen, and at the same time, has
a competition among groups, which group gets the highest mark is the winner.
2.Match the questions with their answers. (Activity 2 )
Gets the students to match the questions with their answers, then gets someone to tell his/her answer, later check the answers together.
The teacher and the students take turning reading these short dialogues.
Step V Presentation
The teacher plays the tape first and asks the students to listen carefully, and pay attention to the underlined sentences.
Read the dialogue after the teacher for two times; try to memorize the underlined sentences.
The teacher explains the dialogue for them, at the same time, explains the language points.
Language points:
1.look for 本意为“寻找”,用在购物时译为“买”。

2.be made of /be made from意为“由…制成”。

be made of 能够看出原材料:如桌椅
Table is made of wood.桌子是由木头做成的。

be made from 不能看出原材料
Paper is made from wood.纸是由木头做成的。

rge 意为“大的,大号的”,缩写形式是L.
Medium意为“中等的,中号的”,缩写形式是M.
Small意为“小的,小号的”,缩写形式是S.
4.dressing room意为“试衣间,更衣室”。

Group 1and 2 read “A”, group 3 and 4 read “B”, later change their sequence.
Lets some pairs read the dialogue.
Step VI Practice
The teacher and one student role play the dialogue between a customer and a shop assistant with the information given in activity 7; later the students make dialogues in pairs, following the example.
Get several pairs to act it out.
Step VII Homework
Talk about the things you bought recently with your partner, using the following as a sample.
Sample: A: I bought a new scarf last weekend.
B: Where is it made?
A: It is made in Japan.
B: What is it made of?
A: It is made of silk.。
