I hope you'll come. Here is the ticket. Don't forget!" She left in a hurry, disappearing in the throngs(人群) of people quickly."What?! What performance? Dance? Is that credible?" I asked myself. Mary was not such kind of girl. She was a quite ordinary one. I had never seen her making up or wearing attractive clothes, moreover, she always wore her big black-frame glasses, for she did not know how to dress up indeed. What a terrible thing, especially for a plain girl!"I should go to, I must go to. That's a miracle!" I thought.I arrived at the hall with the ticket, and found my seat. Her performance was the seventh one. I knew I would suffer from a hard time before her turn, for I had no sense of art, but her performance was worth of watching, no matter how long I would wait for.Time went slowly, I struggled with myself not to fall asleep."Let's welcome the next exciting dance — Latin!" Applause filled the hall at once.I opened my eyes as large as possible, fearing to lose anything. Wearing a golden and shining skirt, Mary appeared onthe glorious stage. Her dress went well with the brilliant lights. Such scene seemed to be a mermaiden showing up under the glittering sunshine, meanwhile, I could feel all the audience in the hall focused their eyes on her and it was also hard for me to remove my sights from her. She was so beautiful: her stature was slim; her long golden hair lay back in curls over her delicate ears. Dancing with a charming smile, she was fully absorbed in the Latin music. At this moment, she looked like a pretty butterfly flying on the splendid stage… I could hardly believe my eyes. After all the performance ended, I waited for her at the gate."Hi!" She stood in front of me with a bag and her crystal high-heeled shoes in her hands, and dressed as she used to be, but the making-up still could be seen."How do you feel?" There was not a little bit tired expression appeared on her face."Fantastic!" I answered."Ha, ha. I knew it would be." She could not conceal her excitement, laughing like a child."May I lend a hand?""Thank you!" She handed her crystal shoes to me which were shining in the wonderful starry night(繁星之夜) ; at the mean time, I realized that every girl has a pair of special shoes which are like the crystal shoes of Cinderella(灰姑娘) .初中生英语美文摘抄篇二用小爱做大事Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift. When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch(走廊) and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've every had. It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.Giving someone all your love is never an assurance(保证,保险) that they'll love you back! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile. There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow(悲伤) to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying. Please send this message to those people who mean something to you, to those who have touched your life in one way or another, to those who make you smile when you really need it, to those that make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down, to those who you want to let them know that you appreciate their friendship. And if you don't, don't worry, nothing bad will happen to you, you will just miss out on the opportunity to brighten someone's day with this message. 初中生英语美文摘抄篇三More than one way to the square We were standing at the top of a church tower. My father had brought me to this spot in a small Italian town not far from our home in Rome. I wondered why."Look down, Elsa," Father said. I gathered all my courage and looked down. I saw the square in the centre of the village. And I saw the crisscross(十字形) of twisting, turning streets leading to the square."See, my dear, " Father said gently. "There is more than one way to the square. Life is like that. If you can’t get to the place where you want to go by one road, try another."Now I understood why I was there. Earlier that day I had begged my mother to do something about the awful lunches that were served at school. But she refused because she could not believe the lunches were as bad as I said. When I turned to Father for help, he would not interfere. Instead, he brought me to this high tower to give me a lesson. By the time we reached home, I had a plan.At school the next day, I secretly poured my luncheon(午宴) soup into a bottle and brought it home. Then I talked the cook into serving it to Mother at dinner. The plan worked perfectly. She swallowed one spoonful and sputtered(喷溅) , "The cook must have gone mad!" Quickly I told her what I had done, and Mother stated firmly that she would take up the matter of lunches at school the next day!In the years that followed I often remembered the lesson Father taught me. I knew where I wanted to go in life. I wanted to be a fashion designer. And on the way to my first small success I found the road blocked.I was busy getting ready to show my winter fashions. Then just 13 days before the presentation the sewing(缝纫) girls were called out on strike. I found myself left with one tailor and woman who was in charge of the sewing room! I was as gloomy as my models and salesgirls. "We’ll never make it," one of them cried. Here, I thought, is the test of all tests for Father’s advice. Where is the way out this time? I wondered and worried. I was certain we would have to call off the presentation or else show the clothes unfinished. Then it dawned on me. Why not show the clothes unfinished? We worked hurriedly. And, exactly 13 days later, right on time, the Schiaparelli showing took place. What a showing it was! Some coats had no sleeves; others had only one. Many of our clothes were still in an early stage. They were only patterns made of heavy cotton cloth. But on these we pinned sketches and pieces of material. In this way we were able to show that what colors and textures the clothes would have when they were finished. All in all, the showing was different. It was so different that it was a great success. Our unusual showing caught the attention of the public, and orders for the clothes poured in.Father’s wise words had guided me once again. There is more than one way to the square always.。

On the day before the bass season opened, he and his father were fishing early in the evening. Then he tied on a small silver lure and practiced casting. When his peapole doubled over, he knew something huge was on the other end. His father watched with admiration as the boy skillfully worked the fish alongside the dock.

Finally, he lifted the exhausted fish from the water. It was the largest one he had ever seen, but is was a bass.最后他将筋疲力尽的鱼提出水面。

这是他所见过的最大的一条,还是一条鲈鱼。

The father lit a match and looked at his watch. It was 10 P.M.----two hours before the season opened. He looked at the fish, then at the boy.爸爸檫着一根火柴,看了看表。

I'd really like for them to know about hand-me-down clothes and home-made ice cream and leftover meatloaf. I really would. My cherished grandson, I hope you learn humility by surviving failure and that you learn to be honest even when no one is looking. I hope you learn to make your bed, and mow the lawn(草地) and wash the car-and I hope nobody gives you a brand-new car when you are sixteen. It will be good if at least one time you can see a baby calf born, and you have a good friend to be with you if you ever have to put your old dog to sleep.I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in. I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother. And it is all right to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he s scared, I hope you ll let him.And when you want to see a Disney movie and your kid brother wants to tag along, I hope you take him. I hope you have to walk uphill with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely. If you want a slingshot, I hope your father teaches you how to make one instead of buying one.I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books, and when you learn to use computers, you also learn how to add andsubtract in your head. I hope you get razzed by friends when you have your first crush on a girl, and that when you talk back to your mother you learn what Ivory soap tastes like.May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on the stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole. I hope you get sick when someone blows smoke in your face. I don t care if you try beer once, but I hope you won t like it.And if a friend offers you a joint or any drugs, I hope you are smart enough to realize that person is not your friend. I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your grandpa or go fishing with your uncle. I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through a neighbor s window, and that she hugs you and kisses you when you give her a plaster of pared mold of your hand. These things I wish for you-tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness.初中生英语美文:睁大自己的眼睛A young man once asked his grandpa, "Grandpa, how is it that you've accomplished so much in your life? You're still full of energy and I'm already tired of struggling. How can I get the same enthusiasm that you've got?"The following is the grandpa's answer:I think a lot of it has to do with how a person looks at things.I call it "keeping your eyes wide open".First, realize that life is filled with surprises, but many are good ones. If you don't keep watching for them, you'll miss half the excitement. Expect to be thrilled once in a while, and you will be.When you meet up with challenges, welcome them. They'll leave you wiser, stronger, and more capable than you were theday before. When you make a mistake, be grateful for the things it taught you. Resolve to use that lesson to help you reach your goals. And always follow the rules——even the little ones. When you follow the rules, life works. If you think you can ever really get by with breaking the rules, you're only fooling yourself. It's also important to decide exactly what you want. Then keep your mind focused on it, and be prepared to receive it.But be ready to end up in some new places too. As you grow with the years, you'll be given bigger shoes to fill. So be ready for endings as well as challenging beginnings.Sometimes we have to be brave enough to move from the familiar to the unfamiliar. Life isn't just reaching peaks. Part of it is moving from one peak to the next. If you rest too long in between, you might be tempted to quit. Leave the past in the past. Climb the next mountain and enioy the view.Dump things that weigh you down emotionally and spiritually. When an old resentment, belief or attitude becomes heavy, lighten your load. Shed those hurtful attitudes that slow you down and drain(耗尽) your energy.Remember that your choices will create your successes and your failures. So consider all the pathways ahead, and decide which ones to follow. Then believe in yourself, get up, and get going. And be sure to take breaks once in a while. They'll give you a renewed commitment to your dreams, and a cheerful, healthy perception of the things that matter the most to you. Most important of all: never give up on yourself. The person that ends up a winner,is the one who resolves to win. Give life everything you've got, and life will give its best back to you.初中生英语美文:音乐的语言A painter hangs his or her finished picture on a wall, and everyone can see it. A composer writes a work, but no one can hear it until it is performed. Professional singers and players have great responsibilities, for the composer is utterly dependent on them. A student of music needs as long and as arduous(努力的) a training to become a performer as a medical student needs to become a doctor. Most training is concerned with technique, for musicians have to have the muscular proficiency of an athlete or a ballet dancer. Singers practice breathing every day, as their vocal chords would be inadequate without controlled muscular support. String players practice moving the fingers of the left hand up and down, while drawing the bow to and fro(来回地) with the right arm -- two entirely different movements.Singers and instrumentalists have to be able to get every note perfectly in tune. Pianists are spared this particular anxiety, for the notes are already there, waiting for them, and it is the piano tuner's responsibility to tune the instrument for them. But they have their own difficulties: the hammers that hit the strings have to be coaxed not to sound like percussion(叩诊,振动), and each overlapping tone has to sound clear. This problem of getting clear texture is one that confronts student conductors: they have to learn to know every note of the music and how it should sound, and they have to aim at controlling these sounds with fanatical(狂热的) but selfless authority.Technique is of no use unless it is combined with musical knowledge and understanding. Great artists are those who are so thoroughly at home in the language of music that they can enjoy performing works written in any century.。

经典美文英语初一 篇1 "Come in," God said to me,"so,you would like to interview Me?" "If you have the time," I said. He smiled through His beard and said:"My time is called eternity and is enough to do everything;what questions do you have in mind to ask me?" "None that are new to you. What's the one thing that surprises you most about mankind?" He answered:"That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up,and then long to be children again. That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future. That they live as if they will never die,and they die as if they never had never lived..." His hands took mine and we were silent. After a long period,I said,"May I ask you another question?" He replied with a smile. "As a Father, what would you ask your children to do for the new year?" "To learn that they cannot make anyone love them. What they can do is to let themselves be loved. To learn that it takes years to build trust, and a few seconds to destroy it. To learn that what is most valuable is not what they have in their lives, but who they have in their lives. To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. There will be others better or worse than they are. To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least. To learn that they should control their attitudes, otherwise their attitudes will control them. To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and that it takes many years to heal them. To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness. To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not know how to show their feelings. To learn that money can buy everything but happiness. To learn that while at times they may be entitled to be upset, that does not give them the right to upset those around them. To learn that great dreams do not require great wings, but a landing gear to achieve. To learn that true friends are scarce,he/she who has found one has found a true treasure. To learn that they are masters of what they keep to themselves and slaves of what they say. To learn that they shall reap what they plant;if they plant gossip they will harvest intrigues,if they plant love they will harvest happiness. To learn that true happiness is not to achieve their goals but to learn to be satisfied with what they already achieved. To learn that happiness is a decision. They decide to be happy with what they are and have,or die from envy and jealousy of what they lack. To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different. To learn that those who are honest with themselves without considering the consequences go far in life. To learn that even though they may think they have nothing to give, when a friend cries with them, they find the strength to appease the pain. To learn that by trying to hold on to love ones, they very quickly push them away;and by letting go of those they love, they will be side by side forever. 经典美文英语初一 篇2 I’ve just come back from school, and I’m on my computer already! The Woman In My Life
The woman in my life catches me when I've fallen
And holds me like a baby when I'm hurt.
No matter how high I climb
She guides me safely back to earth.
And she's there when I need her,
My guardian angel,
In the dark I can see her
Here by my side.
The woman in my life says I'm the one she prayed for And all she's ever gonna need.
But she's the one my heart was made for
And that's the way it's always gonna be.
Now I understand just why my dad
Is crazy about the woman in my life
适合初中英语美文篇三
My furry friend
Growing up, I always wanted a dog. Probably because most of my friends had them, my favorite TV families had them, and it just seemed normal, and American, to have a pooch(杂种狗) in the house.
My Dad is very clean. Not just clean, I might say more Danny Tanner-ish in his habits. As in, he hoses down(用水管浇) the backyard, and front walkway, and even gets halfway down the street, just for fun, until we have to yell, "Dad, you're wasting water! You can't hose down the world!" Then he stops, and comes inside, and starts the very important task of scrubbing(洗涤) the fingerprint smudges off the walls.
So, no dog. When I was eight, we moved across town to a larger house, with a pool, in a "safer" neighborhood, in a gated community. With a large yard. I was very against moving. Why, I cried, were we picking up and deserting everything and everyone we knew and loved?! Our old house was great, we had an avocado tree, it was on a super steep hill, what more could you want?! Well, in order to calm me down, I guess, my parents told me that we could get a dog when we moved to the new, barren(贫瘠的) home. I was sold. I quickly shut my trap.
I feel it was serendipitous(偶然发现的) that we didn't get a dog after the move. My parents said that I would never walk it, which I vehemently denied, but which was probably true. And saying we would get a dog and not following through was pretty much the ONLY thing my parents ever promised that didn't happen in my life so far. I guilted them about it for a few years, sobbing on
holidays when I said "the only thing I want is a dog" and refused presents. Then snuck them into my room on the sly.
I am in my twenties now, and our new roommate just moved in. She has a dog. A West Highland Terrier, or Westie, as they are known. He is fluffy, but not too fluffy, small, but not too small, white, but not too white. He is perfect.
I don't even believe in perfection really, but this dog is perfect for ME. Its the dog I always dreamt of having, and it loves me as I knew a dog would. It follows me into the bathroom when I shower. At first we would scare each other, I was not used to having a non-human, living thing with a beating heart following me around and it would surprise me around corners.
Slowly, we got used to each other. Now I can tell when the dog needs to go out, or when he just sees a few birds in our yard. I give the doggie water, I walk him, and I teach him boundaries. My boyfriend was impressed when I taught him how to lie in his bed while the humans are eating, so as not to bother us. "I can't believe he listens to you." As Cesar Millan would say, I am the Alpha Dog.
In some ways, I am glad I have (been forced to) wait until this age to have a dog around. I don't take him for granted. I am happy every morning when I wake up and hear his little nails clicking across the floor. We are a good match. I can see how a dog is not for everyone. They are very needy and require a lot of attention and affection and structure.
Now my parents are semi-retired but my Dad travels a lot for work. He's off to Luxembourg, Mexico, or the Turks and Caicos every month. I ask my Mom if
she would like a dog to keep her company. She says no, she has a stepdog now (ours) and she can visit it whenever she wants.
And yes, my furry friend will go with me wherever I want to go and whenever, he is very accomodating like that.
