THE SOUND OF SILENCE 寂然之声，在1967年作为美国电影《毕业生》的主题歌，非常受欢迎。
出自1968年奥斯卡特级经典电影，影帝达斯汀·霍夫曼主演的《毕业生》，是60、70年代美国年轻人最喜爱看的电影之一。
《寂静之声》旋律飘缓低迷，歌词充满了一种幻觉般的意境。

1965年，保罗·西蒙从一位英国民歌手，马丁·卡西那里学会了这首歌的旋律，加工成了现在的“斯卡布罗集市”，并成为永恒的畅销金曲。
斯卡布罗集市这首歌的歌词至少追溯到十三世纪的英格兰，至于曲调则更早，产生于苏格兰，很有可能受到了维京人和另一支伟大的蛮族凯尔特人的影响。
这些野蛮人创作了那首充盈着敏感的诗意和微妙的幽怨的歌。
