The Spring Festival is the Chinese New Year. It has been celebrated all over China. Since ancient times on the first day of the first month in Chinese lunar calendar. People to prepare for it several days before the New Year. They clean houses up and buy decorations and many kinds of good food. Every family prepares something special.
The celebration starts on New Year’s Eve, the last day of the lunar year. In the daytime, People plaster their doors with drawings of the god of wealth, red paper character like"福"( good luck) and so on. In the evening every family hold a feast. All the members of the family try to return home for the gathering. No matter how far away they are. They sit together, eating delicious food, taking about interesting things and enjoying wonderful performances on TV. If somebody can find a coin from his dumpling, it means he'll have good luck in the New Year. After the big dinner, people stay up till midnight to welcome the New Year with firecrackers.
On New Year's Day, people get up very early. They wear new clothes and say “Happy New Year" to each other. In the next few days they are busy visiting their relatives and friends. Children like to do so, because they can get much lucky money from the elders.
Dragon dances, Yangchow dances and other performances are also parts of celebrations which last for 15 days. People were happy
