浙江省2018-2019年高考《英语》模拟试题(九)

The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Copenhagen is offering a free meal to any guest who is able to produce electricity for the hotel on an exercise bike linked to a generator (发电机),The idea is to get people fit and reduce their carbon footprint. Guests will have to produce at least 10 watt hours of electricity - roughly 15 minutes of cycling for someone of average fitness. Guests staying at Plaza Hotel will be given meat tickets worth $36 once they have produced 10 watt hours of electricity. The bicycles will have smart phones attached to the handlebars measuring how much power is being generated for the hotel. The plan, a world-first, will start on 19 April and run for a year. Only guests staying at the hotel will be able to take part. Frederikke Toemmergaard, hotel spokeswoman, said, “Many of our visitors are business people who enjoy going to the gym. There might be people who will cycle just to get a free meal, but generally I don’t think people will take advantage of our programme,〞Copenhagen has a long-standing cycling tradition and 36% of locals cycle to work each day, one of the highest percentages in the world, according to the website visitcopenhagen.dk. US environmental website treehugger recently voted Copenhagen the world’s best city for cyclists. “Be cause Copenhagen is strongly connected with cycling,we felt the bicycle would work well as a symbol of the hotel’s green profile (形象)."If successful, the electric bicycle meal programme will be spread to all Crowne Plaza hotels in the UK, the hotel said in a statement.24. What is the main purpose of the free meal programme?A. To promote the hotel's green concept.B. To make the city known to the world.C. To attract people to the hotel restaurant.D. To get guests to stay longer at the hotel.25. How can a participant get a free meal?A. By becoming a professional cyclist.B. By cycling to produce some electricity.C. By linking a smart phone to a bicycle.D. By monitoring his or her carbon footprint.26. Who are most likely to enter for the programme?A. The poor local people.B. The environment activists.C. Health-conscious hotel guests.D.Visitors fond of Copenhagen food.27. According to paragraph 3, Copenhagen has one of the world's _.A. best chain hotelsB. greenest natural environmentsC. longest bike pathsD. highest rales of people cycling to workCDigital technology - email and smart phones especially - have vastly improved workers' ability to be productive outside of a traditional office. Even so, most white-collar work still happens in an office. One reason is that, according to findings of a new survey (调查) of office workers conducted by Wakefield Research for the IT company Citrix, most bosses are doubtful about remote working. Half of the workers say their boss doesn't accept it» and only 35 percent say it’s tolerated.Skeptical bosses will likely have their doubts reinforced (加深)by the same survey, which shows that 43 percent of workers say they’ve watched TV or a movie while “working〞remotely, while 35 percent have done housework, and 28 percent havecooked dinner. It is true, however, that working at home makes people much more efficient (高效的),because it allows workers to take care of annoying housework while still getting their jobs done. It’s much faster, for example, to shop for g roceries at a quarter to three than to stand in line during the after-work rush. The fact that such practices remain officially unaccepted reflects how far we haven't come as a society from the days when we expected every full-time worker to be supported by a full-time homemaker.More broadly the Wakefield survey suggests that employers may be missing a low-cost way to give workers something of value. Sixty-four percent of those survey participants who havens worked remotely would rather give up some bonus in order to get even one day a week working from home. Under such circumstances, smart firms need to find ways to let their employees have enough flexibility to manage their time efficiently.28. Why do some employers hesitate to allow remote working?A. They fear losing control of their workers.B. They want to stick to their routine practice.C. They have little trust in modem technology.D.They are used to face-to-face communication.29- What seems to be most workers’ attitude toward remote working?A. DoubtfulB. FavorableC. ReservedD. Disapproving.30. What does the author suggest smart firms do?A. Shorten their office hours.B. Give employees a pay raise.C. Adopt flexible work patterns.D. Reduce their staff’s workload.第二节〔共5小题,每题2分,总分值10分〕根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最正确选项。

(2015·浙江,B)Graphs can be a very useful tool for conveying information, especially numbers, percentages, and other data.A graph gives the reader a picture to interpret. That can be a lot more efficient than pages and pages explaining the data.Graphs can seem frightening, but reading a graph is a lot like reading a story. The graph has a title,a main idea, and supporting details. You can use your active reading skills to analyze and understand graphs just like any other text. Most graphs have a few basic parts:a caption or introduction paragraph,a title,a legend or key,and labeled axes.An active reader looks at each part of the graph before trying to interpret the data.Captions willusually tell you where the data came from (forexample,a scientific study of 400 African elephantsfrom 1980 to 2005).Captions usually summarizethe author’s main point as well. The title is veryimportant. It tells you the main idea of the graph by stating what kind of information is being shown.A legend, also called a key,is a guide to the symbols and colors used in the graph. Many graphs, including bar graphs and line graphs, have two axes that form a ually these axes are the left side and the bottom of the graph. Each axis will always have a label. The label tells you what each axis measures.Bar GraphsA bar graph has two axes and uses bars to showamounts. In Graph 1,we see that the x-axis showsgrades that students earned, and the y-axis showshow many students earned each grade. You can seethat 6 students earned an A because the bar for Astretches up to 6 on the vertical measurement.Thereis a lot of information we can get from a simple graph like this (See Graph 1).Line GraphsA line graph looks similar to a bar graph, but instead of bars,it plots points and connects them with a line.It has the same parts as a bar graph—two labeled axes—and can be read the same way.To read a line graph,it’s important to focus on the points of intersection rather than the line segments between the points. This type of graph is most commonly used to show how something changes over time. Here is a graph that charts how far a bird flies during the first five days of its spring migration (See Graph 2).The unit of measurement for the x-axis is days. The unit of measurement for the y-axis is kilometers. Thus we can see that,on the first day,the pipit flew 20 kilometers. The line segment goes up between Day 1and Day 2,which means that the bird flew farther onDay 2.If the line segment angled down,as betweenDay 4 and Day 5,it would mean that the bird flewfewer kilometers than the day before. This line graph isa quick, visual way to tell the reader about the bird’smigration.Pie GraphsA typical pie graph looks like a circular pie.The circle is divided into sections, and each section represents a fraction of the data. The graph is commonly used to show percentages;the whole pie represents 100 percent,so each piece is a fraction of the whole.A pie graph might include a legend,or it might use icons or labels within each slice. This pie graph shows one month’s expenses (See Graph 3).Food 25Movies 12Clothing 36Savings 20Books 7【语篇解读】本文介绍了图表的结构和用途,并举例加以说明。

Ⅰ.阅读理解(2018·江西南昌二中联考)As free as they make us,mobile phones still need to stay close to a power source.Soon that may change with “green” power.Three Chilean students got the idea for a plant-powered device(装置) to charge their cellphones, while sitting in their school’s outdoor courtyard during a break from exams, with dead mobile phones. Then, one of them had an “aha” moment.“It occurred to Camila to say about plants,”said inventor Evelyn Aravena.“‘Why don’t you have a socket,if there are so many plants?’ After that,we thought,‘why don’t they have a charging outlet?Because there are so many plants and living things that have the potential to produce energy, why not?’”Their invention—a small biological circuit called E-Kaia—uses the energy plants to produce during photosynthesis(光合作用).A plant uses only a small part of that energy and the rest goes into the soil, and that’s where the E-Kaia collects it.The device plugs into the ground and then into your phone.“It’s the most amazing project I’ve ever seen in my life, plain and simple. They brought this original model, and it worked—and that’s when it all changed,at least from my personal point of view and I began to support them,” said Mauricio Cifuentes. The device solved two problems for the engineering students—they needed an idea for a class project, and an outlet to plug in their phones.“Looking for a place to charge the notebook, which had no power, and the mobile phones,we weren’t able to find anything because all the other students were in the same state of madness trying to find a place to charge their devices,” said Aravena. But plants are everywhere, and the bio-circuit makes the best of their excess(过多的) power. The E-Kaia doesn’t carry much charge but it’s powerful enough to completely recharge a mobile phone in less than two hours. The student inventors have applied for patents on their technology, and expect the E-Kaia to go on sale in December 2016.1.How could the students get the “green” power idea?A.By carrying out an experiment.B.Just from an occasional thought.C.With the support of their professors.D.Inspired by the information in a science book.2.The device collects power by using .A.photosynthesisB.a small biological circuitC.energy plantsD.the electricity stored in the device3.What can we learn from what Mauricio Cifuentes said?A.He intended to buy the patent.B.He invented the original device.C.He showed great interest in the device.D.He attempted to produce the device in large numbers.4.What might be the best title for the passage?A.A New Device to Change the WorldB.Green Power—A New and Potential SourceC.Chilean Students Find a Green Way to Charge PhonesD.A New Device Invented by Chilean Students Will Be on SaleⅡ.完形填空(2017·河北衡水中学七调)The best example of universally understood body language may be the smile.A smile can open doors and tear down walls among 5 .I have organized and reorganized an 6 with the dentist for months.I also 7 it twice and called the day before to 8 all the paperwork would be ready for the x-rays.Then I arrived. It wasn’t 9 at all.The lady there even had no 10 what I was talking about.I 11 felt my blood boil.I was getting so 12 .I didn’t yell at her but I may as well have because the 13 I was talking to her was not nice.I spoke down to her as if she were a child and incapable. It was not a good moment. The whole time she smiled and was 14 to me.Only when everything was finally 15 was I nice.I sat down in the waiting area and 16 it all.How can I make it better? How can I make up for my 17 behavior a moment ago?I couldn’t.I could 18 her a chocolate bar I had on me,but this needed more than that.It needed an honest 19 and that is exactly what I gave.I apologized for the way I had spoken to her and told her it was wrong of me.She 20 .Again with a 21 .God,help me be that woman who smiles and forgives so 22 .I don’t get it right every time.I can be rude and when I am,I almost 23 myself for it.I am not that person, not anymore.Yet I continue to grow and continue to 24 .It’s true that smile vanished my anger and opened a door to understanding.5.A.friends B.strangersC.patientsD.relatives6.A.interview B.operationC.experimentD.appointment7.A.confirmed B.arrangedC.discussedD.admitted8.A.conclude B.approveC.ensureD.apply9.A.crowded B.readyC.openD.busy10.A.plan B.thoughtC.ideaD.minddly B.roughlyC.privatelyD.immediately12.A.mad B.sadC.humorousD.curious13.A.habit B.wayC.accentD.tune14.A.rude B.attachedC.friendlyD.devoted15.A.figured B.addedC.madeD.sorted16.A.reflected on B.worked atC.called atD.went through17.A.unnecessary B.impoliteC.impossibleD.unfair18.A.post B.assistC.pressD.giftment B.promiseC.apologyD.suggestion20.A.refused B.agreedC.ignoredD.accepted21.A.smile B.hopeC.doubtD.belief22.A.slowly B.easilyC.frequentlyD.tightly23.A.teach B.forgiveC.hateD.see24.A.expand B.reactC.overcomeD.learnⅢ.应用文写作假如你是李华,乘飞机从北京到伦敦旅行。

(2015·湖南,A)Forget Cyclists,Pedestrians Are Real DangerWe are having a debate about this topic. Here are some letters from our readers.■Yes,many cyclists behave dangerously. Many drivers are disrespectful of cyclists. But pedestrians are probably the worse offenders.People of all ages happily walk along the pavement with eyes and hands glued to the mobile phone, quite unaware of what is going on around them. They may even do the same thing while crossing a road at a pedestrian crossing or elsewhere. The rest of us have to evade (避让) them or just stand still to wait for the unavoidable collision. The real problem is that some pedestrians seem to be,at least for the moment,in worlds of their own that are,to them, much more important than the welfare of others.—Michael Horan■I loved the letter from Bob Brooks about cyclists (Viewpoints, May 29).I am afraid they seem to think they own the roads.I was walking across Altrincham Road one morning when a cyclist went round me and on being asked what he was doing he shouted at me.The government built a cycle lane on the road but it is hardly used. The police do nothing. What a laugh they are!The cyclists should all have to be made to use the cycle lanes and wear helmets, fluorescent (发荧光的) jackets and lights at night and in the morning. They should pay some sort of tax and be fined for not wearing them.—Carol Harvey■Cyclists jump on and off pavements (which are meant for pedestrians),ride at speed along the pavements, and think they have a special right to go through traffic lights when they are on red.I was almost knocked down recently by a cyclist riding on the pavement when there was a cycle lane right next to him.Other road users, including horse riders, manage to obey the rules so why not cyclists? It’s about time they had to be registered and insured,so when they do hit a pedestrian or a vehicle,or cause an accident,at least they can be traced and there might be an opportunity to claim.—JMLWrite to Viewpoints of the newspaper.【语篇解读】在路上谁是最大的危险。

(2016·江苏,D)Not so long ago, most people didn’t know who Shelly-Ann Fraser -Pryce was going to become. She was just an average high school athlete. There was every indication that she was just another Jamaican teenager without much of a future. However, one person wanted to change this.Stephen Francis observed then eighteen-year-old Shelly-Ann at a track meet and was convinced that he had seen the beginnings of true greatness. Her times were not exactly impressive, but even so,he sensed there was something trying to get out, something the other coaches had overlooked when they had assessed her and found her lacking. He decided to offer Shelly -Ann a place in his very strict training sessions.Their cooperation quickly produced results, and a few years later at Jamaica’s Olympic trials in early 2008,Shelly -Ann,who at that time only ranked number 70 in the world, beat Jamaica’s unchallenged queen of the sprint(短跑).“Where did she come from?” asked an astonished sprintin g world, before concluding that she must be one of those one-hit wonders that spring up from time to time, only to disappear again without signs. But Shelly-Ann was to prove that she was anything but a one-hit wonder. At the Beijing Olympics she swept away any doubts about her ability to perform consistently by becoming the first Jamaican woman ever to win the 100 metres Olympic gold. She did it again one year on at the World Championships in Berlin, becoming world champion with a time of 10.73—the fourth fastest time ever.Shelly-Ann is a little woman with a big smile. She has a mental toughness that did not come about by chance. Her journey to becoming the fastest woman on earth has been anything but smooth and effortless. She grew up in one of Jamaica’s toughest i nner -city communities known as Waterhouse, where she lived in a one-room apartment, sleeping four in a bed with her mother and two brothers.Waterhouse, one of the poorest communities in Jamaica,is a really violent and overpopulated place.Several of Shelly -Ann’s friends and family were caught up in the killings; one of her cousins wasshot dead only a few streets away from where she lived.Sometimes her family didn’t have enough to eat.She ran at the school championships barefooted because she couldn’t afford shoes. Her mother Maxime, one of a family of fourteen, had been an athlete herself as a young girl but, like so many other girls in Waterhouse, had to stop after she had her first baby.Maxime’s early entry into the adult world with its responsibilities gave her the determination to ensure that her kids would not end up in Waterhouse’s roundabout of poverty. One of the first things Maxime used to do with Shelly-Ann was taking her to the track, and she was ready to sacrifice everything. It didn’t take long for Shelly-Ann to realize that sports could be her way out of Waterhouse. On a summer evening in Beijing in 2008,all those long, hard hours of work and commitment finally bore fruit. The barefoot kid who just a few years previously had been living in poverty, surrounded by criminals and violence, had written a new chapter in the history of sports. But Shelly-Ann’s victory was far greater than that. The night she won Olympic gold in Beijing, the routine murders in Waterhouse and the drug wars in the neighbouring streets stopp ed.The dark cloud above one of the world’s toughest criminal neighbourhoods simply disappeared for a few days.“I__have__so__much__fire__burning__for__my__country,” Shelly said. She plans to start a foundation for homeless children and wants to build a community centre in Waterhouse. She hopes to inspire the Jamaicans to lay down their weapons. She intends to fight to make it a woman’s as well as a man’s world. As Muhammad Ali puts it,“Champions aren’t made in gyms.Champions are made from something they have deep inside them.A desire,a dream,a vision.” One of the things Shelly-Ann can be proud of is her understanding of this truth.【语篇解读】本文是一篇记叙文。
