1

00:01:05,320 --> 00:01:10,920

From the day we arrive on the planet

2

00:01:10,960 --> 00:01:16,760

And,blinking,step into the sun

3

00:01:16,800 --> 00:01:22,170

There's more to see than can ever be seen

4

00:01:22,210 --> 00:01:27,230

More to do than can ever be done

5

00:01:28,880 --> 00:01:33,540

There's far too much to take in here

6

00:01:33,580 --> 00:01:38,850

More to find than can ever be found

7

00:01:40,390 --> 00:01:42,120

But the sun rolling high

8

00:01:42,160 --> 00:01:44,720 Through the sapphire sky 9

00:01:44,760 -->

00:01:49,790

Keeps great and small

on the endless round

10

00:01:49,830 -->

00:01:55,100

It's the circle of life

11

00:01:55,140 -->

00:02:01,140

And it moves us all

12

00:02:01,180 -->

00:02:05,480

Through despair and

hope

13

00:02:07,020 -->

00:02:12,650

Through faith and love

14

00:02:12,690 -->

00:02:17,680

Till we find our place

15

00:02:18,230 -->

00:02:24,230

On the path unwinding

16

00:02:25,070 -->

00:02:29,870

In the circle

17

00:02:29,910 -->

00:02:34,900

The circle of life

18

00:03:18,820 -->

00:03:22,880

It's the circle of life

19

00:03:24,330 -->

00:03:28,490

And it moves us all

20

00:03:29,760 -->

00:03:34,290

Through despair and

hope

21

00:03:35,770 -->

00:03:41,300

Through faith and love

22

00:03:41,340 -->

00:03:46,800

Till we find our place

23

00:03:46,850 -->

00:03:53,410

On the path unwinding

24

00:03:53,450 -->

00:03:58,520

In the circle

25

00:03:58,560 -->

00:04:04,930

The circle of life

26

00:04:25,030 -->

00:04:28,000

Life's not fair,is it?

27

00:04:28,030 -->

00:04:32,160

Y ou see,I... Well,I shall

never be king.

28

00:04:33,700 -->

00:04:38,500

And you shall never

see

the light of another

day.

29

00:04:38,540 -->

00:04:40,530

Adieu.

30

00:04:40,580 -->

00:04:43,810

Didn't your mother tell

you

not to play with your

food?

31

00:04:43,850 -->

00:04:45,810

What do you want?

32

00:04:45,850 -->

00:04:49,280

I'm here to announce

that

King Mufasa's on his

way.

33

00:04:49,320 -->

00:04:51,290

So you'd better have a

good excuse...

34

1

00:04:51,320 --> 00:04:52,950

for missing the ceremony this morning.

35

00:04:52,990 --> 00:04:56,010

Oh,now,look,Zazu.

Y ou've

made me lose my lunch.

36

00:04:56,060 --> 00:04:57,460

Ha! Y ou'll lose more than that...

37

00:04:57,490 --> 00:04:58,980

when the king gets through with you.

38

00:04:59,030 --> 00:05:01,690

He's as mad as a hippo with a hernia.

39

00:05:01,730 --> 00:05:05,290

Ooh. I quiver with fear!

40

00:05:05,330 --> 00:05:07,700

Now,Scar,don't look at me that way.

41

00:05:07,735 --> 00:05:08,400 Help!

42

00:05:10,970 -->

00:05:12,300

Drop him.

43

00:05:12,340 -->

00:05:15,110

Impeccable

timing,Y our Majesty.

44

00:05:18,710 -->

00:05:21,550

Why,if it isn't my big

brother...

45

00:05:21,580 -->

00:05:25,020

descending from on

high to

mingle with the

commoners.

46

00:05:25,050 -->

00:05:28,150

Sarabi and I didn't see

you

at the presentation of

Simba.

47

00:05:28,190 -->

00:05:30,280

That was today?

48

00:05:30,330 -->

00:05:33,590

Oh,I feel simply awful!

49

00:05:33,730 -->

00:05:35,930

Must've slipped my

mind.

50

00:05:35,970 -->

00:05:39,160

Y es,well,as slippery as

your mind is...

51

00:05:39,200 -->

00:05:40,330

as the king's brother...

52

00:05:40,370 -->

00:05:43,100

you should've been

first in line!

53

00:05:43,140 -->

00:05:45,160

Well,I was first in

line...

54

00:05:45,210 -->

00:05:47,180

until the little hairball

was born.

55

00:05:47,210 -->

00:05:50,010

That hairball is my

son...

56

00:05:50,050 -->

00:05:52,210

and your future king.

57

00:05:52,250 -->

00:05:55,050

Oh,I shall practice my

curtsy.

58

00:05:55,090 -->

00:05:57,680

Don't turn your back

on me,Scar.

59

00:05:57,720 -->

00:05:58,950

Oh,no,Mufasa.

60

00:05:58,990 -->

00:06:01,960

Perhaps you shouldn't

turn your back on me.

61

00:06:03,160 -->

00:06:05,150

Is that a challenge?

62

00:06:05,200 -->

00:06:06,860

Temper,temper.

63

00:06:06,900 -->

00:06:09,830

I wouldn't dream of

challenging you.

64

00:06:09,870 -->

00:06:11,890

Pity. Why not?

65

00:06:11,940 -->

00:06:15,300

As far as brains go,I

got the lion's share.

2

66

00:06:15,340 --> 00:06:18,740

But when it comes to brute strength...

67

00:06:18,780 --> 00:06:22,940

I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool.

68

00:06:24,920 --> 00:06:27,710

There's one in every family,sire.

69

00:06:27,750 --> 00:06:29,810

Two in mine,actually...

70

00:06:29,850 --> 00:06:32,550

and they always manage

to ruin special occasions.

71

00:06:32,590 --> 00:06:34,610

What am I going to do with him?

72

00:06:34,660 --> 00:06:36,490

He'd make a very handsome throw rug.

73

00:06:36,530 --> 00:06:37,620 Zazu!

74

00:06:37,660 -->

00:06:40,100

And just

think,whenever he gets

dirty...

75

00:06:40,130 -->

00:06:42,460

you could take him out

and beat him.

76

00:07:26,310 -->

00:07:27,970

Simba.

77

00:07:40,130 -->

00:07:41,820

Dad! Dad!

78

00:07:41,860 -->

00:07:45,320

Come on,Dad,we gotta

go! Wake up!

79

00:07:45,360 -->

00:07:46,760

Sorry.

80

00:07:48,130 -->

00:07:50,130

Dad. Dad.

81

00:07:50,170 -->

00:07:53,470

Y our son is awake.

82

00:07:53,510 -->

00:07:56,240

Before sunrise,he's

your son.

83

00:07:56,280 -->

00:07:58,300

Dad! Come on,Dad.

84

00:08:02,650 -->

00:08:04,670

Y ou promised.

85

00:08:04,720 -->

00:08:08,740

- OK,OK. I'm up,I'm

up.

- Y eah!

86

00:08:24,270 -->

00:08:25,570

Look,Simba.

87

00:08:25,610 -->

00:08:29,870

Everything the light

touches is our

kingdom.

88

00:08:29,910 -->

00:08:31,710

Wow.

89

00:08:31,750 -->

00:08:36,650

A king's time as ruler

rises and falls like the

sun.

90

00:08:36,680 -->

00:08:41,050

One day,Simba,the sun

will set on my time

here...

91

00:08:41,090 -->

00:08:44,220

and will rise with you

as the new king.

92

00:08:44,260 -->

00:08:46,950

- And this'll all be

mine?

- Everything.

93

00:08:46,990 -->

00:08:50,290

Everything the light

touches.

94

00:08:50,330 -->

00:08:52,590

What about that

shadowy place?

95

00:08:52,630 -->

00:08:55,930

That's beyond our

borders.

Y ou must never go

there,Simba.

96

00:08:55,970 -->

00:08:57,990

But I thought a king

can do whatever he

wants.

97

3

00:08:58,040 --> 00:08:59,800

There's more to being king...

98

00:08:59,840 --> 00:09:01,600

than getting your way all the time.

99

00:09:01,640 --> 00:09:03,840

- There's more?

- Simba...

100

00:09:05,710 --> 00:09:08,380 Everything you see exists together...

101

00:09:08,420 --> 00:09:10,150

in a delicate balance.

102

00:09:10,180 --> 00:09:13,180

As king,you need to understand that balance...

103

00:09:13,220 --> 00:09:14,950

and respect all the creatures...

104

00:09:14,990 --> 00:09:18,190

from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope. 105

00:09:18,230 -->

00:09:20,190

But,Dad,don't we eat

the antelope?

106

00:09:20,230 -->

00:09:22,790

Y es,Simba,but let me

explain.

107

00:09:22,830 -->

00:09:25,730

When we die,our

bodies

become the grass...

108

00:09:25,770 -->

00:09:28,330

and the antelope eat

the grass.

109

00:09:28,370 -->

00:09:34,000

And so we are all

connected

in the great circle of

life.

110

00:09:34,040 -->

00:09:36,270

- Good morning,sire!

- Good morning,Zazu.

111

00:09:36,310 -->

00:09:38,110

Checking in with the

morning report.

112

00:09:38,150 -->

00:09:39,340

Fire away.

113

00:09:39,380 -->

00:09:42,470

Chimps are going

ape,giraffes

remain above it all

114

00:09:42,520 -->

00:09:45,490

Elephants

remember,though

just what,I can't recall

115

00:09:45,520 -->

00:09:48,550

Crocodiles are

snapping up

fresh offers from the

banks

116

00:09:48,590 -->

00:09:51,960

Shown interest in my

nest

egg,but I quickly

said,no,thanks

117

00:09:51,990 -->

00:09:54,990

We haven't paid the

hornbills,and

the vultures have a

hunch

118

00:09:55,030 -->

00:09:59,090

Not everyone invited

will

be coming back from

lunch

119

00:09:59,900 -->

00:10:02,870

This is the morning

report

120

00:10:02,910 -->

00:10:05,340

Gives you the long and

the short

121

00:10:05,370 -->

00:10:09,400

Every grunt,roar,and

snort

122

00:10:09,450 -->

00:10:12,470

Not a tale I distort

123

00:10:12,510 -->

00:10:16,810

On the morning report

124

00:10:16,850 -->

00:10:19,080

- What are you

doing,son?

- Pouncing.

125

00:10:19,120 -->

00:10:22,060

Let an old pro show

you how it's done.

126

00:10:22,090 -->

00:10:24,060

Oh,the buffalo have

4

got a beef about...

127

00:10:24,090 --> 00:10:27,760

Stay low to the ground.

128

00:10:27,800 --> 00:10:30,320

Y eah,OK. Stay low to the ground. Right.

129

00:10:30,370 --> 00:10:32,490

Not a sound.

130

00:10:32,530 --> 00:10:35,090

The season's colors seen in all the herds...

131

00:10:35,140 --> 00:10:39,270

Take it slow. One more step...

132

00:10:39,310 --> 00:10:41,570

- then... in the dung

133

00:10:43,380 --> 00:10:46,540

This is the morning report

134

00:10:46,580 --> 00:10:49,880

Gives you the long and the short 135

00:10:49,920 -->

00:10:52,940

Every grunt,roar,and

snort

136

00:10:52,990 -->

00:10:56,420

Not a tale I distort

137

00:10:56,460 -->

00:10:59,920

On the morning report

138

00:11:06,720 -->

00:11:07,950

- Zazu!

- Y es!

139

00:11:07,990 -->

00:11:09,720

Sir! News from the

underground.

140

00:11:09,760 -->

00:11:10,980

Now,this time...

141

00:11:11,020 -->

00:11:14,650

Sire! Hyenas in the

pride lands!

142

00:11:14,690 -->

00:11:15,920

Zazu,take Simba

home.

143

00:11:15,960 -->

00:11:18,520

- Dad,can't I come?

- No,son.

144

00:11:19,970 -->

00:11:21,960

I never get to go

anywhere.

145

00:11:22,000 -->

00:11:25,730

Oh,young master,one

day,you will be king.

146

00:11:25,770 -->

00:11:28,800

Then you can chase

those

slobbering,mangy...

147

00:11:28,840 -->

00:11:32,170

stupid poachers from

dawn until dusk.

148

00:11:37,720 -->

00:11:40,690

Hey,Uncle Scar! Guess

what?

149

00:11:40,720 -->

00:11:43,920

I despise guessing

games.

150

00:11:43,960 -->

00:11:46,120

I'm gonna be king of

Pride Rock.

151

00:11:46,160 -->

00:11:48,180

Oh,goody.

152

00:11:48,230 -->

00:11:50,250

My dad just showed

me

the whole kingdom...

153

00:11:50,300 -->

00:11:53,130

and I'm gonna rule it

all.

154

00:11:53,170 -->

00:11:56,900

Y es,well,forgive me

for not leaping for joy.

155

00:11:56,940 -->

00:11:59,000

Bad back,you know.

156

00:11:59,340 -->

00:12:02,780

Hey,Uncle Scar,when

I'm

king,what'll that make

you?

157

00:12:02,810 -->

00:12:05,010

A monkey's uncle.

158

00:12:05,050 -->

00:12:06,780

Y ou're so weird.

5

159

00:12:06,810 --> 00:12:08,780

Y ou have no idea.

160

00:12:08,820 --> 00:12:12,450

So,your father showed you

the whole kingdom,did he?

161

00:12:12,490 --> 00:12:13,510 Everything.

162

00:12:13,550 --> 00:12:15,350

He didn't show you what's beyond that rise...

163

00:12:15,390 --> 00:12:16,880

at the northern border?

164

00:12:16,920 --> 00:12:20,490

Well,no. He said I can't go there.

165

00:12:20,530 --> 00:12:23,960

And he's absolutely right.

It's far too dangerous.

166

00:12:24,000 --> 00:12:26,490

Only the bravest lions go there.

167

00:12:26,530 -->

00:12:29,300

Well,I'm brave. What's

out there?

168

00:12:29,340 -->

00:12:31,530

I'm sorry,Simba,I just

can't tell you.

169

00:12:31,570 -->

00:12:32,770

Why not?

170

00:12:32,810 -->

00:12:34,710

Simba,Simba,I'm only

looking out...

171

00:12:34,740 -->

00:12:37,440

for the well-being

of my favorite nephew.

172

00:12:37,480 -->

00:12:40,350

Y eah,right. I'm your

only nephew.

173

00:12:40,380 -->

00:12:42,940

All the more reason

for me to be protective.

174

00:12:42,980 -->

00:12:47,280

An elephant graveyard

is

no place for a young

prince.

175

00:12:47,320 -->

00:12:49,810

An elephant what?

Whoa.

176

00:12:49,860 -->

00:12:52,990

Oh,dear,I've said too

much.

177

00:12:53,030 -->

00:12:56,020

Well,I suppose you'd

have

found out sooner or

later...

178

00:12:56,060 -->

00:12:59,000

you being so clever

and all.

179

00:12:59,030 -->

00:13:00,760

Oh,just do me one

favor.

180

00:13:00,800 -->

00:13:05,470

Promise me you'll

never

visit that dreadful

place.

181

00:13:05,510 -->

00:13:08,670

- No problem.

- There's a good lad.

182

00:13:08,710 -->

00:13:11,510

Y ou run along now and

have fun.

183

00:13:11,550 -->

00:13:15,540

And remember,it's our

little secret.

184

00:13:21,090 -->

00:13:23,350

- Hey,Nala.

- Hi,Simba.

185

00:13:23,390 -->

00:13:25,660

Come on. I just heard

about this great place.

186

00:13:25,690 -->

00:13:28,160

Simba! I'm kind of in

the middle of a bath.

187

00:13:28,200 -->

00:13:30,260

And it's time for yours.

188

00:13:30,600 -->

00:13:32,930

Mom!

189

00:13:32,970 -->

00:13:35,600

Mom,you're messing

6

up my mane!

190

00:13:35,870 --> 00:13:38,470

OK,I'm clean. Can we go now?

191

00:13:38,510 --> 00:13:41,500

So,where are we going? It

better not be anyplace dumb.

192

00:13:41,550 --> 00:13:43,380

No,it's really cool.

193

00:13:43,410 --> 00:13:46,010

So,where is this really cool place?

194

00:13:46,050 --> 00:13:48,950

Oh. Around the water hole.

195

00:13:48,990 --> 00:13:52,080

The water hole? What's so

great about the water hole?

196

00:13:52,120 --> 00:13:54,320

I'll show you when we get there. 197

00:13:54,360 -->

00:13:57,560

Oh. Mom,can I go with

Simba?

198

00:13:57,600 -->

00:13:59,720

Hmm,what do you

think,Sarabi?

199

00:13:59,760 -->

00:14:00,920

Well...

200

00:14:00,970 -->

00:14:02,430

- Please?

- Please?

201

00:14:02,470 -->

00:14:03,630

It's all right with me.

202

00:14:03,670 -->

00:14:04,790

- All right!

- Y eah!

203

00:14:04,840 -->

00:14:06,740

As long as Zazu goes

with you.

204

00:14:06,770 -->

00:14:08,800

No,not Zazu.

205

00:14:08,840 -->

00:14:11,740

Step lively. The sooner

we get to the water

hole...

206

00:14:11,780 -->

00:14:13,900

the sooner we can

leave.

207

00:14:13,940 -->

00:14:15,880

So,where are we really

going?

208

00:14:15,910 -->

00:14:18,440

- An elephant

graveyard.

- Wow!

209

00:14:18,480 -->

00:14:20,210

Shh! Zazu.

210

00:14:20,250 -->

00:14:22,980

Right. So how are we

gonna ditch the dodo?

211

00:14:23,020 -->

00:14:25,990

Oh,just look at you

two.

212

00:14:26,020 -->

00:14:29,220

Little seeds of romance

blossoming in the

savanna.

213

00:14:29,260 -->

00:14:31,520

Y our parents will be

thrilled...

214

00:14:31,560 -->

00:14:33,930

what with your being

betrothed and all.

215

00:14:33,960 -->

00:14:36,830

- Be... what?

- Betrothed. Intended.

216

00:14:36,870 -->

00:14:38,800

Affianced.

217

00:14:38,840 -->

00:14:39,960

Meaning...?

218

00:14:40,000 -->

00:14:43,130

One day,you two are

going to be married.

219

00:14:43,180 -->

00:14:45,440

I can't marry her. She's

my friend.

220

00:14:45,480 -->

00:14:47,740

Y eah,it'd be so weird.

221

7

00:14:47,780 --> 00:14:49,770

Sorry to bust your bubble...

222

00:14:49,820 --> 00:14:52,480

but you two turtledoves have no choice.

223

00:14:52,520 --> 00:14:55,040

It's a tradition going back generations.

224

00:14:55,090 --> 00:14:57,720

When I'm king,that'll be the first thing to go.

225

00:14:57,760 --> 00:15:00,620

- Not so long as I'm around.

- In that case,you're fired.

226

00:15:00,660 --> 00:15:03,130

Hmm. Nice try,but only

the king can do that.

227

00:15:03,160 --> 00:15:04,790

Well,he's the future king.

228

00:15:04,830 --> 00:15:07,200

Y eah,so you have to do

what I tell you.

229

00:15:07,230 -->

00:15:10,170

Not yet,I don't. And

with

an attitude like that...

230

00:15:10,200 -->

00:15:11,790

I'm afraid you're

shaping up to be...

231

00:15:11,840 -->

00:15:13,430

a pretty pathetic king

indeed.

232

00:15:13,470 -->

00:15:15,770

Hmm. Not the way I

see it.

233

00:15:15,880 -->

00:15:20,010

I'm gonna be a mighty

king,so enemies

beware

234

00:15:20,050 -->

00:15:22,710

Well,I've never seen a

king of beasts

235

00:15:22,750 -->

00:15:25,780

With quite so little hair

236

00:15:25,820 -->

00:15:30,120

I'm gonna be the main

event

like no king was before

237

00:15:30,160 -->

00:15:32,650

I'm brushing up on

looking down

238

00:15:32,690 -->

00:15:35,220

I'm working on my

roar

239

00:15:35,260 -->

00:15:39,760

Thus far,a rather

uninspiring thing.

240

00:15:39,800 -->

00:15:43,570

Oh,I just can't wait to

be king

241

00:15:43,600 -->

00:15:46,940

Y ou've rather a long

way to

go,young master,if you

think...

242

00:15:46,970 -->

00:15:49,100

- No one saying,"Do

this"

- Now,when I said

that...

243

00:15:49,140 -->

00:15:51,580

- No one saying,"Be

there"

- What I meant was...

244

00:15:51,610 -->

00:15:54,210

- No one saying,"Stop

that"

- But what you don't

realize...

245

00:15:54,250 -->

00:15:57,110

- No one saying,"See

here"

- Now,see here!

246

00:15:57,150 -->

00:16:00,050

Free to run around all

day

247

00:16:00,090 -->

00:16:02,080

Well,that's definitely

out.

248

00:16:02,120 -->

00:16:06,110

Free to do it all my

way

249

00:16:07,360 -->

00:16:09,420

I think it's time that

you and I

250

8

00:16:09,460 --> 00:16:11,900 Arranged a

heart-to-heart

251

00:16:11,930 --> 00:16:16,060

Kings don't need advice from

little hornbills for a start

252

00:16:16,100 --> 00:16:21,100

If this is where the monarchy

is headed,count me out

253

00:16:21,140 --> 00:16:26,740

Out of service,out of Africa,I wouldn't hang about

254

00:16:26,780 --> 00:16:30,720

This child is getting wildly out of wing

255

00:16:30,750 --> 00:16:35,690

Oh,I just can't wait to be king

256

00:16:46,770 --> 00:16:49,470 Everybody,look left

257

00:16:49,510 --> 00:16:51,440 Everybody,look right

258

00:16:51,470 -->

00:16:55,840

Everywhere you

look,I'm

standing in the

spotlight

259

00:16:55,880 -->

00:16:57,440

Not yet!

260

00:16:57,480 -->

00:17:01,380

Let every creature go

for broke and sing

261

00:17:01,420 -->

00:17:06,750

Let's hear it in the

herd and on the wing

262

00:17:06,790 -->

00:17:10,990

It's gonna be King

Simba's finest fling

263

00:17:11,030 -->

00:17:20,900

Oh,I just can't wait to

be king

264

00:17:20,940 -->

00:17:27,000

Oh,I just can't wait

265

00:17:27,040 -->

00:17:31,810

To be king

266

00:17:34,050 -->

00:17:38,890

I beg your

pardon,madam,but...

get off!

267

00:17:44,530 -->

00:17:45,960

All right! It worked!

268

00:17:46,000 -->

00:17:48,560

- We lost him.

- I am a genius.

269

00:17:48,600 -->

00:17:50,570

Hey,genius,it was my

idea.

270

00:17:50,600 -->

00:17:52,760

Y eah,but I pulled it off.

271

00:17:52,800 -->

00:17:54,900

- With me!

- Oh,yeah?

272

00:17:57,940 -->

00:18:00,540

- Pinned ya.

- Hey,let me up.

273

00:18:05,780 -->

00:18:07,380

Pinned ya again.

274

00:18:18,760 -->

00:18:21,160

This is it. We made it.

275

00:18:29,880 -->

00:18:32,040

It's really creepy.

276

00:18:32,080 -->

00:18:34,550

Y eah. Isn't it great?

277

00:18:34,580 -->

00:18:37,570

- We could get in big

trouble.

- I know.

278

00:18:37,620 -->

00:18:40,810

I wonder if its brains

are still in there.

279

00:18:40,850 -->

00:18:44,720

There's only one way

to know.

Come on,let's go check

it out.

280

00:18:44,760 -->

00:18:47,250

Wrong! The only

checking

out you will do...

281

00:18:47,290 -->

00:18:48,520

9

will be to check out of here.

282

00:18:48,560 --> 00:18:49,720

Oh,man!

283

00:18:49,760 --> 00:18:52,320

We're way beyond the boundary of the pride lands.

284

00:18:52,360 --> 00:18:53,990

Look,Banana Beak is scared.

285

00:18:54,030 --> 00:18:56,930

It's Mr. Banana Beak to you,fuzzy...

286

00:18:56,970 --> 00:19:00,340

and right now we are all in very real danger.

287

00:19:00,370 --> 00:19:04,000 Danger? Ha! I walk on the wide side.

288

00:19:04,040 --> 00:19:06,340

I laugh in the face of danger.

289

00:19:13,150 --> 00:19:16,450

Well,well,well,Banzai,

what

have we got here?

290

00:19:16,490 -->

00:19:20,430

Hmm. I don't

know,Shenzi.

What do you think,Ed?

291

00:19:22,260 -->

00:19:26,960

Just what I was

thinking.

A trio of trespassers!

292

00:19:27,000 -->

00:19:29,330

And quite by

accident,let me assure

you.

293

00:19:29,370 -->

00:19:31,240

A simple navigational

error.

294

00:19:31,270 -->

00:19:33,260

Whoa,whoa,wait,wait,

wait.

295

00:19:33,310 -->

00:19:37,240

I know you. Y ou're

Mufasa's little stooge.

296

00:19:37,280 -->

00:19:39,640

I,madam,am the king's

major-domo.

297

00:19:39,680 -->

00:19:42,770

- And that would make

you...

- The future king.

298

00:19:42,820 -->

00:19:46,380

Do you know what we

do to kings

who step out of their

kingdom?

299

00:19:46,420 -->

00:19:49,220

Y ou can't do anything

to me.

300

00:19:49,260 -->

00:19:51,620

Technically,they can.

We are on their land.

301

00:19:51,660 -->

00:19:53,520

But,Zazu,you told me

they're nothing...

302

00:19:53,560 -->

00:19:55,930

but

slobbering,mangy,stupi

d poachers.

303

00:19:55,960 -->

00:19:59,460

- Lx-nay on the

upid-stay. -

Who are you calling

upid-stay?

304

00:19:59,500 -->

00:20:01,730

My,my,my. Look at the

sun! It's time to go!

305

00:20:01,770 -->

00:20:04,930

What's the hurry? We'd

love

you to stick around for

dinner.

306

00:20:04,970 -->

00:20:08,430

Y eah,we could have

whatever's lion around!

307

00:20:08,480 -->

00:20:10,440

Wait,wait,wait,I got

one,I got one!

308

00:20:10,480 -->

00:20:13,570

Make mine a cub

sandwich!

What'd you think?

309

00:20:14,120 -->

00:20:16,380

What,Ed? What is it?

310

00:20:16,420 -->

00:20:18,220

Hey,did we order this

dinner to go?

10

311

00:20:18,250 --> 00:20:21,710

- No,why?

- 'Cause there it goes!

312

00:20:27,900 --> 00:20:30,660

- Did we lose 'em?

- I think so.

313

00:20:30,700 --> 00:20:32,170

Where's Zazu?

314

00:20:32,200 --> 00:20:34,360

The little major-domo bird hippety-hopped...

315

00:20:34,400 --> 00:20:36,500

all the way to the birdie-boiler.

316

00:20:36,540 --> 00:20:40,070

Oh,no! Not the birdie-boiler!

317

00:20:43,010 --> 00:20:46,210

Hey,why don't you pick

on somebody your own size?

318

00:20:46,250 --> 00:20:48,510 - Like you?

- Oops.

319

00:21:22,750 -->

00:21:26,120

Here,kitty,kitty,kitty.

320

00:21:30,030 -->

00:21:32,720

That was it?

321

00:21:32,760 -->

00:21:34,460

Do it again. Come on.

322

00:21:46,380 -->

00:21:47,970

Oh,please,please!

Uncle,uncle!

323

00:21:48,010 -->

00:21:50,340

- Silence!

- We're gonna shut up

right now!

324

00:21:50,380 -->

00:21:52,140

Calm down. We're

really sorry.

325

00:21:52,180 -->

00:21:55,580

If you ever come near

my son again...

326

00:21:55,620 -->

00:21:57,250

Oh,this is your son?

327

00:21:57,290 -->

00:21:59,520

- Oh,your son?

- Did you know that?

328

00:21:59,560 -->

00:22:02,020

No. Me? I didn't

know... No,did you?

329

00:22:02,060 -->

00:22:03,960

- No,of course not.

- No.

330

00:22:03,990 -->

00:22:05,190

- Ed?

- Ed?

331

00:22:08,430 -->

00:22:09,800

Toodles.

332

00:22:15,840 -->

00:22:17,140

Dad,I...

333

00:22:17,180 -->

00:22:18,970

Y ou deliberately

disobeyed me.

334

00:22:20,110 -->

00:22:23,050

- Dad,I'm sorry.

- Let's go home.

335

00:22:25,680 -->

00:22:28,240

I thought you were

very brave.

336

00:22:43,240 -->

00:22:50,170

- Y es,sire?

- Take Nala home.

337

00:22:50,210 -->

00:22:53,200

I've got to teach my

son a lesson.

338

00:22:57,350 -->

00:22:59,320

Come,Nala.

339

00:22:59,350 -->

00:23:02,790

Simba,good luck.

340

00:23:37,120 -->

00:23:39,290

Simba,I'm very

disappointed in you.

341

00:23:39,330 -->

00:23:41,790

- I know.

- Y ou could've been

killed.

342

00:23:41,830 -->

00:23:43,630

Y ou deliberately

disobeyed me...

11

343

00:23:43,660 --> 00:23:46,260

and what's worse,you put Nala in danger.

344

00:23:47,470 --> 00:23:50,300

I was just trying to be brave,like you.

345

00:23:50,340 --> 00:23:53,670

I'm only brave when I have to be.

346

00:23:53,710 --> 00:23:57,440 Simba,being brave...

347

00:23:57,480 --> 00:23:59,880

doesn't mean you go looking for trouble.

348

00:23:59,910 --> 00:24:01,880

But you're not scared of anything.

349

00:24:02,050 --> 00:24:03,280

I was today.

350

00:24:03,320 --> 00:24:05,510

- Y ou were?

- Y es.

351 00:24:05,550 -->

00:24:07,750

I thought I might lose

you.

352

00:24:07,790 -->

00:24:13,090

Oh. I guess even kings

get scared,huh?

353

00:24:13,130 -->

00:24:15,430

- But you know what?

- What?

354

00:24:15,460 -->

00:24:19,590

I think those hyenas

were even scareder.

355

00:24:19,630 -->

00:24:22,800

'Cause nobody messes

with your dad.

356

00:24:22,840 -->

00:24:25,360

- Come here,you.

- Oh,no! No!

357

00:24:28,040 -->

00:24:29,340

Come here!

358

00:24:30,350 -->

00:24:31,540

Gotcha!

359

00:24:36,820 -->

00:24:38,380

- Dad?

- Hmm?

360

00:24:38,420 -->

00:24:41,220

- We're pals,right?

- Right.

361

00:24:41,260 -->

00:24:44,020

And we'll always be

together,right?

362

00:24:45,290 -->

00:24:48,200

Simba,let me tell you

something...

363

00:24:48,230 -->

00:24:50,990

that my father told me.

364

00:24:51,070 -->

00:24:53,030

Look at the stars.

365

00:24:53,070 -->

00:24:55,470

The great kings of the

past...

366

00:24:55,500 -->

00:24:58,130

look down on us from

those stars.

367

00:24:58,170 -->

00:25:00,510

- Really?

- Y es.

368

00:25:00,540 -->

00:25:02,940

So,whenever you feel

alone...

369

00:25:02,980 -->

00:25:05,280

just remember that

those kings...

370

00:25:05,310 -->

00:25:09,220

will always be there to

guide you...

371

00:25:09,250 -->

00:25:10,650

and so will I.

372

00:25:17,460 -->

00:25:19,290

Man,that lousy

Mufasa.

373

00:25:19,330 -->

00:25:21,420

I won't be able to sit

for a week.

374

00:25:24,670 -->

00:25:26,330

It's not funny,Ed.

375

00:25:29,240 -->

00:25:30,760

Hey,shut up!

12

376

00:25:34,040 --> 00:25:35,740

Will you knock it off?

377

00:25:35,780 --> 00:25:38,410

Well,he started it.

378

00:25:38,450 --> 00:25:40,180

Look at you guys.

379

00:25:40,220 --> 00:25:42,710

No wonder we're dangling at

the bottom of the food chain.

380

00:25:42,750 --> 00:25:44,280

Man,I hate dangling.

381

00:25:44,320 --> 00:25:46,760

Y eah? Y ou know,if it weren't for those lions...

382

00:25:46,790 --> 00:25:48,260

we'd be running the joint.

383

00:25:48,290 --> 00:25:49,760

Man,I hate lions. 384

00:25:49,790 -->

00:25:51,390

- So pushy.

- And hairy.

385

00:25:51,430 -->

00:25:53,590

- And stinky.

- And,man,are they...

386

00:25:53,630 -->

00:25:56,960

- Ugly!

- Ugly!

387

00:25:57,000 -->

00:26:00,870

Oh,surely,we lions are

not all that bad.

388

00:26:02,140 -->

00:26:03,770

Oh,Scar. It's just you.

389

00:26:03,810 -->

00:26:05,930

We were afraid it was

somebody important.

390

00:26:05,980 -->

00:26:07,440

Y eah,you know,like

Mufasa.

391

00:26:07,480 -->

00:26:09,100

- Y eah.

- I see.

392

00:26:09,150 -->

00:26:11,550

- Now,that's power.

- Tell me about it.

393

00:26:11,580 -->

00:26:13,710

I just hear that

name,and I shudder.

394

00:26:13,750 -->

00:26:15,980

- Mufasa!

- Ooh! Do it again.

395

00:26:20,090 -->

00:26:21,890

Ooh,it tingles me.

396

00:26:21,930 -->

00:26:24,830

I'm surrounded by

idiots.

397

00:26:24,860 -->

00:26:26,660

Now,you,Scar,I

mean,you're one of us.

398

00:26:26,700 -->

00:26:29,260

- I mean,you're our pal.

- Charmed.

399

00:26:29,300 -->

00:26:34,000

Oh,I like that. He's not

king,but he's still so

proper.

400

00:26:34,040 -->

00:26:36,440

Did you bring us

anything

to eat,Scar,old buddy?

401

00:26:36,470 -->

00:26:37,630

Did ya,did ya,did ya?

402

00:26:37,670 -->

00:26:40,070

I don't think you really

deserve this.

403

00:26:40,110 -->

00:26:43,240

I practically

gift-wrapped

those cubs for you...

404

00:26:43,280 -->

00:26:46,740

and you couldn't even

dispose of them.

405

00:26:48,320 -->

00:26:52,380

Y ou know,it wasn't

exactly

like they was

alone,Scar.

406

00:26:52,420 -->

00:26:56,550

Y eah. What were we

supposed to do,kill

Mufasa?

13

407

00:26:58,000 --> 00:27:00,230 Precisely.

408

00:27:09,680 --> 00:27:13,700

I know that your powers of retention

409

00:27:13,750 --> 00:27:17,510

Are as wet as a warthog's backside

410

00:27:17,550 --> 00:27:19,610

But thick as you are

411

00:27:19,650 --> 00:27:21,780

Pay attention

412

00:27:21,820 --> 00:27:25,620

My words are a matter of pride

413

00:27:25,660 --> 00:27:29,390

It's clear from your vacant expressions

414

00:27:29,430 --> 00:27:33,390

The lights are not all on upstairs

415

00:27:33,430 --> 00:27:36,890

But we're talking kings

and successions

416

00:27:36,940 -->

00:27:41,130

Even you can't be

caught unawares

417

00:27:41,170 -->

00:27:44,670

So prepare for the

chance of a lifetime

418

00:27:44,710 -->

00:27:49,170

Be prepared for

sensational news

419

00:27:49,210 -->

00:27:52,980

A shiny new era is

tiptoeing nearer

420

00:27:53,020 -->

00:27:54,680

And where do we

feature?

421

00:27:54,720 -->

00:27:56,950

Just listen to teacher

422

00:27:56,990 -->

00:27:58,920

I know it sounds sordid

423

00:27:58,960 -->

00:28:00,980

But you'll be rewarded

424

00:28:01,030 -->

00:28:03,480

When at last I am

given my dues

425

00:28:03,530 -->

00:28:07,330

And injustice

deliciously squared

426

00:28:07,370 -->

00:28:10,600

Be prepared

427

00:28:10,640 -->

00:28:14,600

Y eah,be prepared.

We'll

be prepared. For what?

428

00:28:14,640 -->

00:28:17,400

- For the death of the

king.

- Why,is he sick?

429

00:28:17,440 -->

00:28:20,210

No,fool,we're going to

kill him... and

Simba,too.

430

00:28:20,250 -->

00:28:22,080

Great idea. Who needs

a king?

431

00:28:22,120 -->

00:28:24,780

No king,no

king,la-la la-la la la

432

00:28:24,820 -->

00:28:26,940

Idiots! There will be a

king!

433

00:28:26,990 -->

00:28:30,050

- Hey,but you said...

- I will be king!

434

00:28:30,090 -->

00:28:35,790

Stick with me,and

you'll

never go hungry again.

435

00:28:35,830 -->

00:28:36,800

- Y eah!

- Y eah! All right!

436

00:28:36,830 -->

00:28:38,190

All right! Long live the

king!

437

00:28:38,230 -->

00:28:41,720

- Long live the king!

- Long live the king!

438

00:28:41,770 -->

00:28:43,500

King,king,king,king,ki

ng,king,king

14

439

00:28:43,540 --> 00:28:46,840

It's great that we'll soon be connected

440

00:28:46,870 --> 00:28:51,140

With a king who'll be all-time adored

441

00:28:51,180 --> 00:28:54,740

Of course,quid pro quo,you're expected

442

00:28:54,780 --> 00:28:58,810

To take certain duties on board

443

00:28:58,850 --> 00:29:02,650

The future is littered with prizes

444

00:29:02,690 --> 00:29:07,150

And though I'm the main addressee

445

00:29:07,190 --> 00:29:10,560

The point that I must emphasize is

446

00:29:10,600 --> 00:29:14,500

Y ou won't get a sniff without me

447

00:29:14,530 -->

00:29:18,160

So prepare for the coup

of the century

448

00:29:18,200 -->

00:29:22,540

Be prepared for the

murkiest scam

449

00:29:22,580 -->

00:29:24,370

Meticulous planning

450

00:29:24,410 -->

00:29:26,380

Tenacity spanning

451

00:29:26,410 -->

00:29:28,510

Decades of denial

452

00:29:28,550 -->

00:29:32,250

Is simply why I'll be

king undisputed

453

00:29:32,290 -->

00:29:34,280

Respected,saluted

454

00:29:34,320 -->

00:29:37,720

And seen for the

wonder I am

455

00:29:37,760 -->

00:29:41,560

Y es,my teeth and

ambitions are bared

456

00:29:41,590 -->

00:29:45,960

Be prepared

457

00:29:46,000 -->

00:29:49,370

Y es,our teeth and

ambitions are bared

458

00:29:49,400 -->

00:29:52,930

Be prepared

459

00:30:03,390 -->

00:30:04,610

Now,you wait here.

460

00:30:04,650 -->

00:30:08,090

Y our father has a

marvelous surprise for

you.

461

00:30:08,120 -->

00:30:09,450

Ooh,what is it?

462

00:30:09,490 -->

00:30:12,690

If I told you,it wouldn't

be a

surprise,now,would it?

463

00:30:12,730 -->

00:30:14,720

If you tell me,I'll still

act surprised.

464

00:30:14,760 -->

00:30:18,700

Ho ho ho! Y ou are

such a naughty boy.

465

00:30:18,730 -->

00:30:21,960

- Come on,Uncle Scar.

-

No,no,no,no,no,no,no.

466

00:30:22,000 -->

00:30:24,370

This is just for you and

your daddy.

467

00:30:24,410 -->

00:30:29,140

Y ou know,a sort of

father-son... thing.

468

00:30:29,180 -->

00:30:32,010

Well,I better go get

him.

469

00:30:32,050 -->

00:30:33,600

- I'll go with you.

- No!

470

00:30:33,650 -->

00:30:37,420

No. Just stay on this

rock.

15

471

00:30:37,450 --> 00:30:39,580

Y ou wouldn't want to end up in another mess...

472

00:30:39,620 --> 00:30:41,320

like you did with the hyenas.

473

00:30:41,360 --> 00:30:42,720

Y ou know about that?

474

00:30:42,760 --> 00:30:45,190 Simba,everybody knows about that.

475

00:30:45,230 --> 00:30:47,860

- Really?

- Oh,yes.

476

00:30:47,900 --> 00:30:51,660

Lucky Daddy was there to save you,eh?

477

00:30:51,700 --> 00:30:54,470

Oh,and just between us...

478

00:30:54,500 --> 00:30:57,940

you might want to work on that little roar of yours.

479

00:30:57,970 -->

00:31:00,600

Oh,OK.

480

00:31:02,480 -->

00:31:06,210

Hey,Uncle Scar,will

I like this surprise?

481

00:31:06,250 -->

00:31:10,550

Simba,it's to die for.

482

00:31:30,570 -->

00:31:33,340

- Shut up.

- I can't help it.

483

00:31:33,380 -->

00:31:35,810

I'm so hungry. I got

to have a wildebeest.

484

00:31:35,850 -->

00:31:37,340

Stay put.

485

00:31:37,380 -->

00:31:39,650

Can't I just pick off one

of the little sick ones?

486

00:31:39,680 -->

00:31:43,640

No. We wait for the

signal from Scar.

487

00:31:45,320 -->

00:31:49,090

There he is. Let's go.

488

00:31:49,130 -->

00:31:50,790

Little roar.

489

00:32:50,690 -->

00:32:53,750

Oh,look,sire,the herd is

on the move.

490

00:32:53,790 -->

00:32:55,760

- Odd.

- Mufasa,quick!

491

00:32:55,800 -->

00:32:57,960

Stampede in the gorge.

492

00:32:58,000 -->

00:33:00,660

- Simba's down there.

- Simba?

493

00:33:20,760 -->

00:33:22,350

Zazu,help me!

494

00:33:22,390 -->

00:33:24,480

Y our father is on the

way! Hold on!

495

00:33:24,530 -->

00:33:25,690

Hurry!

496

00:33:29,130 -->

00:33:31,890

There,on that tree.

497

00:33:31,930 -->

00:33:33,200

Hold on,Simba!

498

00:33:40,140 -->

00:33:44,580

Oh,Scar,this is awful!

What'll we do?

499

00:33:44,610 -->

00:33:45,840

I'll go back to

help,that's what I'll do.

500

00:33:45,880 -->

00:33:47,040

I'll go back...

501

00:34:21,450 -->

00:34:22,970

Dad!

502

00:34:47,880 -->

00:34:50,210

Brother! Help me!

503

00:34:58,360 -->

00:35:01,850

Long live the king.

504

00:35:22,680 -->

00:35:24,310

16

Dad!

505

00:36:14,130 --> 00:36:17,300

Dad,come on.

506

00:36:17,340 --> 00:36:20,240

Y ou got to get up.

507

00:36:20,270 --> 00:36:22,370

Dad?

508

00:36:22,410 --> 00:36:24,310

We got to go home.

509

00:36:35,120 --> 00:36:37,320

Help!

510

00:36:39,460 --> 00:36:41,950 Somebody!

511

00:36:42,000 --> 00:36:43,830 Anybody.

512

00:36:45,230 --> 00:36:46,560

Help.

513

00:37:15,560 --> 00:37:19,330 Simba,what have you done? 514

00:37:20,540 -->

00:37:23,800

There were

wildebeests,and

he tried to save me.

515

00:37:23,840 -->

00:37:27,140

It was an accident. I

didn't mean for it to

happen.

516

00:37:27,180 -->

00:37:31,370

Of course,of course

you didn't.

517

00:37:31,410 -->

00:37:36,370

No one ever means for

these things to

happen...

518

00:37:36,420 -->

00:37:38,750

but the king is dead.

519

00:37:40,290 -->

00:37:43,380

And if it weren't for

you,he'd still be alive.

520

00:37:48,100 -->

00:37:50,720

Oh,what will your

mother think?

521

00:37:50,770 -->

00:37:53,330

What am I going to

do?

522

00:37:53,370 -->

00:37:54,700

Run away,Simba.

523

00:37:56,070 -->

00:38:01,200

Run. Run away and

never return.

524

00:38:07,420 -->

00:38:08,850

Kill him.

----------------------------

------

1

00:00:03,060 -->

00:00:04,900

Hey,there he goes.

There he goes.

2

00:00:05,730 -->

00:00:07,700

So,go get him.

3

00:00:07,730 -->

00:00:09,360

There ain't no way I'm

going in there.

4

00:00:09,400 -->

00:00:13,740

What,you want me to

come out

looking like you,cactus

butt?

5

00:00:13,840 -->

00:00:15,010

But we got to finish

the job.

6

00:00:15,040 -->

00:00:18,140

Well,he's as good as

dead out there anyway.

7

00:00:18,180 -->

00:00:20,480

And if he comes

back,we'll kill him.

8

00:00:20,510 -->

00:00:22,640

Y eah! Y ou hear that?

9

00:00:22,680 -->

00:00:26,180

If you ever come

back,we'll kill you!

10

00:00:34,000 -->

00:00:38,370

Mufasa's death is a

terrible tragedy...

11

00:00:38,410 -->

00:00:42,780

but to lose Simba,who

had

barely begun to live...

12

00:00:43,110 -->

00:00:48,370

for me,it is a

17

deep,personal loss.

13

00:00:48,820 --> 00:00:52,780

So,it is with a heavy heart

that I assume the throne.

14

00:00:52,820 --> 00:00:55,480

Y et out of the ashes of this tragedy...

15

00:00:55,520 --> 00:01:00,090

we shall rise to greet the dawning of a new era...

16

00:01:00,130 --> 00:01:04,000

in which lion and hyena come together...

17

00:01:04,030 --> 00:01:07,990

in a great and glorious future.

18

00:01:53,480 --> 00:01:55,780

Get out! Get out! Get out of here!

19

00:01:55,820 --> 00:01:59,150

I love this! Bowling for buzzards. 20

00:01:59,190 -->

00:02:01,680

Gets 'em every time.

21

00:02:01,730 -->

00:02:05,990

Uh-oh. Hey,Timon,you

better come look.

22

00:02:06,030 -->

00:02:08,090

I think it's still alive.

23

00:02:09,700 -->

00:02:12,330

All righty,what have

we got here?

24

00:02:18,780 -->

00:02:21,110

Jeez,it's a lion!

25

00:02:21,140 -->

00:02:22,270

Run,Pumbaa,move it!

26

00:02:22,310 -->

00:02:25,610

Hey,Timon,it's just a

little lion.

27

00:02:25,650 -->

00:02:30,210

Look at him. He's so

cute and all alone.

28

00:02:30,250 -->

00:02:32,740

- Can we keep him?

- Pumbaa,are you nuts?

29

00:02:32,790 -->

00:02:36,050

Y ou're talking about a

lion. Lions eat guys

like us.

30

00:02:36,090 -->

00:02:38,620

- But he's so little.

- He's going to get

bigger.

31

00:02:38,660 -->

00:02:39,960

Maybe he'll be on our

side.

32

00:02:40,000 -->

00:02:43,960

Ha! That's the stupidest

thing

I ever heard. Maybe

he'll...

33

00:02:44,000 -->

00:02:45,930

Hey,I got it.

34

00:02:45,970 -->

00:02:47,370

What if he's on our

side?

35

00:02:47,400 -->

00:02:50,770

Y ou know,having a

lion around

might not be such a

bad idea.

36

00:02:50,810 -->

00:02:51,930

So,we're keeping him?

37

00:02:51,980 -->

00:02:54,270

Of course. Who's the

brains of this outfit?

38

00:02:54,310 -->

00:02:56,140

My point exactly.

39

00:02:56,180 -->

00:02:59,310

Jeez,I'm fried. Let's get

out

of here and find some

shade.

40

00:03:05,860 -->

00:03:08,160

- Y ou OK,kid?

- I guess so.

41

00:03:08,190 -->

00:03:10,590

- Y ou nearly died.

- I saved you.

42

00:03:10,630 -->

00:03:13,430

Well,Pumbaa helped...

a little.

43

00:03:13,470 -->

18

00:03:15,330

Thanks for your help.

44

00:03:16,500 --> 00:03:20,100

- Hey,where you going?

- Nowhere.

45

00:03:20,140 --> 00:03:21,610

Gee,he looks blue.

46

00:03:21,640 --> 00:03:23,630

I'd say brownish gold.

47

00:03:23,680 --> 00:03:25,840

No,no,no. I mean he's depressed.

48

00:03:27,510 --> 00:03:28,570

Kid,what's eating you?

49

00:03:28,610 --> 00:03:30,610 Nothing. He's at the top of the food chain.

50

00:03:33,120 --> 00:03:34,610

The food chain.

51

00:03:38,290 --> 00:03:40,160

So,where you from? 52

00:03:40,190 -->

00:03:42,250

Who cares? I can't go

back.

53

00:03:42,300 -->

00:03:44,460

Ah,you're an outcast.

54

00:03:44,500 -->

00:03:47,020

- That's great. So are

we.

- What'd you do,kid?

55

00:03:47,070 -->

00:03:49,860

Something terrible,but

I

don't want to talk about

it.

56

00:03:49,900 -->

00:03:51,460

Good. We don't want

to hear about it.

57

00:03:51,500 -->

00:03:53,700

Come on,Timon.

Anything we can do?

58

00:03:53,740 -->

00:03:55,440

Not unless you can

change the past.

59

00:03:55,480 -->

00:03:58,810

Kid,in times like

this,my

buddy Timon here

says...

60

00:03:58,850 -->

00:04:01,370

you got to put your

behind in your past.

61

00:04:01,420 -->

00:04:04,280

- No,no,no. Amateur.

- I mean...

62

00:04:04,320 -->

00:04:07,120

Lie down before you

hurt yourself.

63

00:04:07,150 -->

00:04:09,880

It's,you got to put

your past behind you.

64

00:04:09,920 -->

00:04:11,820

Look,kid,bad things

happen...

65

00:04:11,860 -->

00:04:13,790

and you can't do

anything about it,right?

66

00:04:13,830 -->

00:04:15,120

- Right.

- Wrong!

67

00:04:15,160 -->

00:04:17,820

When the world turns

its back on you...

68

00:04:17,870 -->

00:04:20,630

you turn your back on

the world.

69

00:04:20,670 -->

00:04:22,570

Well,that's not what I

was taught.

70

00:04:22,600 -->

00:04:26,170

Then maybe you need

a new

lesson. Repeat after

me.

71

00:04:26,210 -->

00:04:28,230

- Hakuna matata.

- What?

72

00:04:28,280 -->

00:04:32,340

Hakuna matata. It

means "no worries. "

73

00:04:32,380 -->

00:04:35,410

Hakuna matata

74

00:04:35,450 -->

00:04:38,650

What a wonderful

19

phrase

75

00:04:38,690 --> 00:04:41,090 Hakuna matata

76

00:04:41,120 --> 00:04:44,490

Ain't no passing craze

77

00:04:44,530 --> 00:04:46,860

It means no worries

78

00:04:46,900 --> 00:04:50,460

For the rest of your days

79

00:04:50,500 --> 00:04:53,370

It's our problem free

80

00:04:53,400 --> 00:04:56,100 Philosophy

81

00:04:56,140 --> 00:04:58,660 Hakuna matata

82

00:04:58,710 --> 00:05:00,540 Hakuna matata?

83

00:05:00,580 --> 00:05:03,170

- Y eah. It's our motto. - What's a motto?

84

00:05:03,210 -->

00:05:04,770

Nothing. What's a

motto with you?

85

00:05:05,650 -->

00:05:09,550

Y ou know,kid,these

two words

will solve all your

problems.

86

00:05:09,590 -->

00:05:13,020

That's right. Take

Pumbaa,for example.

Why...

87

00:05:13,060 -->

00:05:15,890

When he was a young

warthog

88

00:05:15,930 -->

00:05:16,760

When I was a young

warthog

89

00:05:18,800 -->

00:05:20,700

- V ery nice.

- Thanks.

90

00:05:20,730 -->

00:05:23,600

He found his aroma

lacked a certain appeal

91

00:05:23,630 -->

00:05:25,900

He could clear the

savanna after every

meal

92

00:05:25,940 -->

00:05:28,000

I'm a sensitive soul

93

00:05:28,040 -->

00:05:31,800

Though I seem thick

skinned

94

00:05:31,840 -->

00:05:37,180

And it hurt that my

friends never stood

downwind

95

00:05:37,210 -->

00:05:40,780

- And,oh,the shame

- He was ashamed

96

00:05:40,820 -->

00:05:43,380

- Thought of changing

my name

- Oh,what's in a name?

97

00:05:43,420 -->

00:05:45,910

- And I got

downhearted

- How did you feel?

98

00:05:45,960 -->

00:05:47,080

Every time that I...

99

00:05:47,120 -->

00:05:48,750

Hey,Pumbaa,not in

front of the kids.

100

00:05:48,790 -->

00:05:49,660

Oh,sorry.

101

00:05:49,690 -->

00:05:51,890

Hakuna matata

102

00:05:51,930 -->

00:05:55,160

What a wonderful

phrase

103

00:05:55,200 -->

00:05:57,130

Hakuna matata

104

00:05:57,170 -->

00:06:00,430

Ain't no passing craze

105

00:06:00,470 -->

00:06:02,700

It means no worries

106

00:06:02,740 -->

00:06:04,610

For the rest of your

days

Journey to the Center of the Earth(地心游记)2008经典电影英文影评

Journey to the Center of the Earth(地心游记)2008 There is a part of me that will always have affection for a movie like "Journey to the Center of the Earth." It is a small part and steadily shrinking, but once I put on the 3-D glasses and settled in my seat, it started perking up. This is a fairly bad movie, and yet at the same time maybe about as good as it could be. There may not be an 8-year-old alive who would not love it. If I had seen it when I was 8, I would have remembered it with deep affection for all these years, until I saw it again and realized how little I really knew at that age. You are already familiar with the premise, that there is another land inside of our globe. You are familiar because the Jules Verne novel has inspired more than a dozen movies and countless TV productions, including a series, and has been ripped off by such as Edgar Rice Burroughs, who called it Pellucidar, and imagined that the Earth was hollow and there was another world on the inside surface. (You didn't ask, but yes, I own a copy of Tarzan at the Earth's Core with the original dust jacket.) In this version, Brendan Fraser stars as a geologist named Trevor, who defends the memory of his late brother, Max, who believed the center of the Earth could be reached through "volcanic tubes." Max disappeared on a mysterious expedition, which, if it involved volcanic tubes, should have been no surprise to him. Now Trevor has been asked to spend some time with his nephew, Max's son, who is named Sean (Josh Hutcherson). What with one thing and another, wouldn't you know they find themselves in Iceland, and peering down a volcanic tube. They are joined in this enterprise by Hannah (Anita Briem), who they find living in Max's former research headquarters near the volcano he was investigating. Now begins a series of adventures, in which the operative principle is: No matter how frequently or how far they fall, they will land without injury. They fall very frequently, and very far. The first drop lands them at the bottom of a deep cave, from which they cannot possibly climb, but they remain remarkably optimistic: "There must be a way out of here!" Sure enough, they find an abandoned mine shaft and climb aboard three cars of its miniature railway for a scene that will make you swear the filmmakers must have seen "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom." Just like in that movie, they hurtle down the tracks at breakneck speeds; they're in three cars, on three more or less parallel tracks, leading you to wonder why three parallel tracks were constructed at great expense and bother, but just when such questions are forming, they have to (1) leap a chasm, (2) jump from one car to another, and (3) crash. It's a funny thing about that little railway: After all these years, it still has lamps hanging over the rails, and the electricity is still on. The problem of lighting an unlit world is solved in the next cave they enter, which is inhabited by cute little birds that glow in the dark. One of them makes friends with Sean, and leads them on to the big attraction -- a world bounded by a great interior sea. This world must be a terrible place to inhabit; it has man-eating and man-strangling plants, its waters harbor giant-fanged fish and fearsome sea snakes that eat them, and on the further shore is a Tyrannosaurus rex. So do the characters despair? Would you despair, if you were trapped miles below the surface in a cave and being chased by its hungry inhabitants? Of course not. There isn't a moment in the movie when anyone seems frightened, not even during a fall straight down for thousands of feet, during which they link hands like sky-divers and carry on a conversation. Trevor gets the ball rolling: "We're still falling!" I mentioned 3-D glasses earlier in the review. Yes, the movie is available in 3-D in "selected theaters." Select those theaters to avoid. With a few exceptions (such as the authentic IMAX process), 3-D remains underwhelming to me -- a distraction, a disappointment and more often than not offering a dingy picture. I guess setting your story inside the Earth is one way to explain why it always seems to need more lighting. The movie is being shown in 2-D in most theaters, and that's how I wish I had seen it. Since there's that part of me with a certain weakness for movies like this, it's possible I would have liked it more. It would have looked brighter and clearer, and the photography wouldn't have been cluttered up with all the leaping and gnashing of teeth. Then I could have appreciated the work of the plucky actors, who do a lot of things right in this movie, of which the most heroic is keeping a straight face. 1

Seven(七宗罪)1995经典电影英文影评

Seven(七宗罪)1995 David Fincher's classic tale of inventive serial killing and urban degredation, with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman on excellent form Who'd have thought? An absurd-sounding tale of a serial killer basing his crimes around the seven deadly sins, directed by the man behind the mess that was Alien3, turning out to be one of the most chilling and original thrillers of the 1990s. From the outset, through the film's brilliantly designed deliberate under-lighting - we see very little blood and guts - and muffled sound, the audience is encouraged to lean towards the screen, immerse itself in the film's unbearably grim world. Pitt is in career-making form as Mills, a simple cop moving with his sweet young wife (Paltrow) to a grim, anonymous city, determined to make a difference, to do some good. He is assigned to track down a vengeful killer, and works alongside Somerset (Freeman), a jaded, wise policeman on the verge of retirement. The two are that modern movie cliché -the mismatched pair thrown together by circumstance, who gradually learn mutual respect. But Fincher and Walker take these hackneyed ingredients, play with them in the context of a brilliantly cohesive plot, and present something consistently fresh - the police finding themselves with too much evidence, the premature unmasking of the killer - and very, very dark. 1

Tess(苔丝)1979经典电影英文影评

Tess(苔丝)1979 Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles, which Roman Polanski has turned into a lovely, lyrical, unexpectedly delicate movie, might at first seem to be the wrong project for Mr. Polanski in every way. As a new biography of the director reports, when Tess was shown at the Cannes Film Festival, the press pointed nastily and repeatedly to the coincidence of Mr. Polanski's having made a film about a young girl's seduction by an older man, while he himself faced criminal charges for a similar offense. This would certainly seem to cast a pall over the project. So would the fact that Hardy's novel is so very deeply rooted in English landscapes, geographical and sociological, while Mr. Polanski was brought up in Poland. Finally, Tess of the D'Urbervilles is so quintessentially Victorian a story that a believable version might seem well out of any contemporary director's reach. But if an elegant, plausible, affecting Tess sounds like more than might have been expected of Mr. Polanski, let's just say he has achieved the impossible. In fact, in the process of adapting his style to suit such a sweeping and vivid novel, he has achieved something very unlike his other work. Without Mr. Polanski's name in the credits, this lush and scenic Tess could even be mistaken for the work of David Lean. In a preface to the later editions of Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Mr. Hardy described the work as "an impression, not an argument." Mr. Polanski has taken a similar approach, removing the sting from both the story's morality and its melodrama. Tess Durbeyfield, the hearty country lass whose downfall begins when her father learns he had noble forebears, is sent to charm her rich D'Urberville relations. She learns that they aren't D'Urbervilles after all; instead, they have used their new money to purchase an old name. Tess charms them anyhow, so much that Alec D'Urberville, her imposter cousin, seduces and impregnates her. The seduction, like many of the film's key scenes, is presented in a manner both earthy and discreet. In this case, the action is set in a forest, where a gentle mist arises from the ground and envelops Tess just around the time when she is enveloped by Alec. Alec, as played by Leigh Lawson, is a slightly wooden character, unlike Angel Clare, Tess's later and truer lover, played with supreme radiance by Peter Firth. Long after Tess has borne and buried her illegitimate child, she finds and falls in love with this spirited soul mate. But when she marries Angel Clare and is at last ready to reveal the secret of her past, the story begins hurtling toward its final tragedy. When Tess becomes a murderer, the film offers its one distinctly Polanski-like moment—but even that scene has its fidelity to the novel. A housemaid listening at a door hears a "drip, drip, drip" sound, according to Hardy. Mr. Polanski has simply interpreted this with a typically mischievous flourish. Of all the unlikely strong points of Tess, which opens today for a weeklong engagement at the Baronet and which will reopen next year, the unlikeliest is Nastassja Kinski, who plays the title role. Miss Kinski powerfully resembles the young Ingrid Bergman, and she is altogether ravishing. But she's an odd choice for Tess: not quite vigorous enough, and maybe even too beautiful. She's an actress who can lose her magnetism and mystery if she's given a great deal to do (that was the case in an earlier film called Stay As You Are). But here, Mr. Polanski makes perfect use of her. Instead of a driving force, she becomes an echo of the land and the society around her, more passive than Hardy's Tess but linked just as unmistakably with natural forces. Miss Kinski's Tess has no inner life to speak of. But Mr. Polanski makes her surroundings so expressive that her placidity and reserve work very beautifully. Even at its nearly three-hour running time, Mr. Polanski's Tess cannot hope for anything approaching the range of the novel. But the deletions have been made wisely, and though the story loses some of its resonance it maintains its momentum. There are episodes—like one involving Tess's shabby boots and Mercy Chant, the more respectable girl who expects to marry Angel—that don't make the sense they should, and the action is fragmented at times. That's a small price to pay for the movie's essential rightness, for its congruence with the mood and manner of the novel. Mr. Polanski had to go to Normandy and rebuild Stonehenge to stage his last scene, according to this same biography. As is the case throughout his Tess, the results were worth the trouble. 1
