狮身由混凝土制作,表面覆盖上陶瓷鳞片,而眼睛则是红色的小茶杯。

新加坡共有大大小小7座鱼尾狮,但只有鱼尾狮公园的两座是林浪新创作。
其他5座分别在旅游局总部、圣淘沙、花柏山和宏茂桥。
鱼尾狮狮头的设计灵感来自于新加坡历史的一个传说。
根据《马来纪年》的记载,公元14世纪时一位来自三佛齐王国,名叫圣尼罗乌达玛的王子在海上航行时遇到风暴,船漂流到这个岛上,他一登陆就看到一只神奇的野兽,随从告诉他那是一只狮子。
他于是为新加坡取名「新加坡拉」(Singapura,在梵文中意即
“狮子城”)。
至于鱼尾狮塑像的鱼尾造型,浮泳于层层海浪间,既代表新加坡从渔港变成商港的特性,同时也象征着当年飘洋过海,南来谋生求存的祖祖辈辈们。
造型趣味而极富创意的鱼尾狮,全身洁白、双眼含笑毛发丰美、鳞片鲜活。
白色水花日夜不停地从狮口喷洒而出,流向河水、奔向大海,为新加坡河畔一带的景致营造了美好的气氛。
