英语的传播速度非常的迅速及广泛，其是70多个国家的官方、半官方或通用语言，而且其在另外的100～130多个国家和地区被广泛的使用。英语全球化的主要表现为：内层，将英语作为母语和官方语言的国家，如英国、美国、澳大利亚、加拿大、爱尔兰、新西兰等；外层，主要是将英语作为附加教学语言的国家，如加纳、印度、肯尼亚、马来西亚、尼日利亚、新加坡、赞比亚等；延伸层，主要是将英语作为外语使用的国家，如中国、日本、韩国、以色列、俄罗斯等。促进英语在这些国家被广泛使用与传播的原因主要有以下几个方面：
