K ey w ords :K ung Fu Panda ; Chinese culture ; culture communication ; cultural awareness ; cultural regeneration 收稿日期:2008-10-10 作者简介:周苏萍(1979-),女,福建漳州人,漳州师范学院外语系讲师,从事英语教学法、跨文化交际方面的研究。 引 子 美国好莱坞动画片《功夫熊猫》是今年暑期国内外各大影院热播的功夫喜剧。“据新华网报道,影片上映十天,国内票房收入已经过亿。这个成绩足以傲视所有进口和国产的动画影片。该片在海外备受青睐,截至6月29日,北美票房 已逼近1亿8千万美元。” [1](P 1) 《功夫熊猫》的故事发生在古代中国一个叫“和平谷”(the Valley of Peace )的地方,这也是一个武林高手云集之地。从小就对虎、蛇、鹤、猴、螳螂等五大惊世护法高手(the Furious Five )崇拜得五体投地的熊猫阿波(P o ),天天都做着“功夫皇帝”的美梦。然而,现实生活中的他只是一个在父亲的小面馆里帮忙的学徒,体型肥胖但很善良。有一天,武林圣殿(the Jade Palace )传来了年事已高的龟仙人(Master O og way )挑选神龙斗士(the Drag on Warrior )的消息,整个和平谷的居民,包括阿波在内,都前往目睹这一盛事。比赛在五大护法高手之间展开,而阿波却意外地卷入了这场竞争,并阴差阳错地被指认为神龙斗士,并肩负起打败成功越狱的雪豹太郎(T ai Lung )、拯救和平谷的使命。虽然对这一结果,五大护法高手与他们的浣熊师傅(Shifu )都极度失望,但为了尽快能把阿波培养成新一代的功夫大师,浣熊师傅强忍着失望与愤懑,最终对症下药地找到了训练阿波的方法———“食诱法”。阿波果然不负众望,不仅很快领悟到了“内心”才是真正的力量源泉,而且打败了太郎,把和平宁静重新带回了和平谷,并得到了所有和平谷居民,包括浣熊师傅和五 大护法高手的尊敬。 一、《功夫熊猫》中体现的中国传统文化元素 就是这样一个简单的故事情节,这样一批熟悉的动物形象,加上好莱坞众多明星幽默、完美的配音以及梦工厂精湛、逼真的动画制作水平,给全球观众带来了一场视听的盛宴。当然,真正让广大海内外观众拍手叫绝的还应属影片中“中国传统文化元素与好莱坞式的幽默和煽情手法的完美融 合”[2]。 有媒体评论,这部历时两年半有余的《功夫熊猫》是梦 工厂有史以来最具中国风味的一部动画大片。[2](P 70) 该片中浓郁的中国元素贯穿了影片始末:建筑方面,阿波的家、挑选神龙斗士的比武场地、神龙宝典(the Drag on Scroll )所在的玉石殿以及曲折的长廊石桥正是中国古典江南民居、中国古典园林、中国古典宫殿建筑以及中国江南水乡古桥的再现;服饰方面的汉服与斗笠,饮食方面的面条、豆腐、包子,民俗方面的鞭炮、轿子、瓷器、庙会、书法、乐器、高跷,体育方面的武术(虎、鹤、猴、蛇、螳螂是中国“象形拳”的 化身[1](P 1) ),医学方面的中医针灸,宗教方面的道教太极阴阳、佛教禅宗的坐禅、龟仙人“作为智者所吟咏的‘没有什么是偶然的’的佛教宿命理念、并最终在羽化成仙中完成的 道家至高理想”[3] ……这些场景、这些画面,在充分展现好莱坞大气的影像视觉效果之余也让观众多角度地感受到了浓厚的中国传统文化气息。 二、中国传统文化对外传播的历史与现状 第27卷第12期 怀化学院学报 V ol 1271N o 1122008年12月 J OURNA L OF HUAIHUA UNI VERSITY Dec .2008
