Maybe you are an average student(中等生). You probably think you will never be a top student. However, anyone can become a better student if he or she wants to. Here’s how.

1. Plan your time carefully. When you plan your work, you should make a list of things that you have to do. After making the list, you should make a schedule(日程表) of your time. First, your time for eating, sleeping, dressing, etc. Then decide a good, regular(规律的) time for studying. Don’t forget to relax sometimes. A weekly schedule may not solve all your problems, but it will make you realize what is happening to your time.

2. Find a good place to study. Look around the house for a good study area. Keep this space, which may be a desk or simply a corner of your room, free of everything but study things. No games, radios, or television! When you sit down to study, concentrate on the subject.

3. Make good use of your time in class. Listen to everything the teacher says carefully. Really listening in class means less work later. Taking notes will help you remember what the teacher says.

4. Study regularly. When you get home from school, go over your notes. Review the important points that your teacher mentioned in class. If you know what your teacher is going to discuss the next day, read that material(材料). This will help you understand the next class. If you do

these things regularly, the material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.

5. Develop a good attitude about tests. The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. They help you remember your new knowledge. The world won’t end if you don’t pass a test, so don’t be overly worried.

There are other methods that might help you with your studying. You will probably discover many others after you have tried these. ( ) 7. A schedule will help you _____.

Dream culture is an important part of ancient Chinese culture. Dream interpreting(理解)is popular in China, and the most famous reference for dream interpreting is the book of Duke of Zhou Interprets Dreams.

Ancient Chinese people thought that dreams could suggest lucky and unlucky things. Since different dreams have different meanings, people can get meanings of good or bad luck by interpreting them. Actually, dream interpreting is not totally a superstition. It does have some scientific value.

● Dreams are the reflection of the facts. Many dreams are actually something about what happened in the daytime. This kind of dream can be easily understood without dream interpreting.

● Dreams are the body’s self-implication Traditional Chinese medical science says that dreams are connected with the health condition of humans’ bodies. When Yin and Yang are imbalanced, dreams come into being. If someone dreamt that he or she was roasted by a big fire, it shows he or she might easily get angry or nervous.

It is true that people with better education are usually able to get better paying jobs. In other words, they have more chances to choose a good job while people with little or no education don’t. It seems that the purpose of education is to make people get jobs. But this isn’t accepted by all people.

Some people may think that a person should spend the best years of his life getting education only for a way of living. This was probably one of the earliest reasons of education. In fact, if education is just a way of making a living. Pe ople don’t need to spend so much time in school. People can get education for a living in a short time. Subjects like history and geography need not be taught to everyone. Even language and

mathematics need not be taught in detail (详细地), either. Here it is clear that education is much more than teaching a man to get a way of living. Education is well-rounded and it is mainly for improving a man. It is not only to teach him to speak, read and write, but also to develop his creative thinking and other abilities. After that, it is to make him a wise man and thankfully enjoy the achievements of human. Education is to make a man lead a better life. Educated people are expected to be able to listen to good music, read good books, watch plays and most of all take an interest in the world.

I would agree that making a good living is an important reason for education, but certainly not the most important or the main reason.

“”in Chinese.

A. 圆满的

( )24. It is expected that educated people will be able to .

A. accepted education as a way of living

B. take an interest in the world

C. develop their abilities to make plays

D. learn subjects like language and math

C Speed up or slow down? That was the question Wang Xueliang thought about as he approached the traffic lights. The 45-year-old driver hesitated for a few seconds before stepping on the brakes and stopping his car at a crossing on Beijing's Chang'an Avenue, even though the traffic light was still green. The light turned yellow a second later. For many drivers, passing through traffic crossings has become a guessing game since New Year's Day. From Jan 1, new traffic laws mean all drivers in China that run a yellow light will have six points deducted (扣除) from the 12 given to their license. Drivers who run yellow lights will receive the same six-point punishment as those who run red lights. Those who forfeit 12 points over a calendar year will have to attend training courses and take exams organized by the local traffic management bureau. The rule was named "China's harshest traffic rule" by many online observers. The new rule also gives strict punishments for speeding, covering up the license plate, making phone calls while driving, and drunken driving. The punishment for covering up a license plate is 12 points. "On the day the new rules came into force, drivers followed the rules and commonly seen violations, such as ignoring traffic lights , were seen less frequently," according to a report by Xinhua News Agency. The report said the number of accidents decreased sharply on Tuesday in five major cities ― Beijing, Tianjin, Nanjing, Han gzhou and Jinan ― from the previous day. Moreover, no severe accidents were reported. Although the ministry said on Wednesday that some major cities reported a sharp decrease in urban traffic violations, the new law remains controversial ( 引起
