第一篇:Youth(青春)

LadiesandGentlemen, Good afternoon! I’mvery glad to stand hereand give you a shortspeech.Todaymy topic is“youth”. I hopeyou will likeit, and foundthe importance in your youth so that more ch erish it.

First Iwant toaskyousome questions:

1、Doyou know what is youth??

2、Howdo you master your youth?

?Youth isnot a time of life, it is a state of mind;it is not rosy cheeks, red l ipsand suppleknees, itis a matter of the emotions: it is the freshness; it isthe freshness of the deep springsof life.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage overtimidityof the appetite, foradventure over theloveof ease.Thisoften exists in a man of60morethan a boyof20.Nobody grows oldmerely by a n umber of years. We grow old by deserting ourideals.

Years wrinkle the skin, buttogiveupenthusiasm wrinklesthe soul.Worry, fear, self–distrust bows the heartand turnsthespir itback to dust.

Whether 60 of16, there is in every human being‘s heart the lure of wonde rs, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’snextand thejoy of thegameof living. In the center ofyour heart and my heart there’sa wireless s tation:so longas itreceives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, cour age and power from men and from theinfinite,so longas youare young.?Whenthe aerials are down, andyour spirit is coveredwith snows of cynicism and theice of pessimism, thenyou are grown old, evenat 20, but as long as your aerialsareup ,to catch waves ofoptimism ,ther eishopeyou maydieyoung at 80.?Thank you!

第二篇:My dream(我的梦想)

Ienter tile universityafteryears of hard study and preparation (准备). But life in the universityis notassatisfactory(满意)aswhatI had expected.I become lazyand don't wantto study.Ibecome silent.I become puzzled. I don't know what I cando in thefuture. ThenI become

第三篇:Haste Makes Waste(欲速则不达)

Goodmorning, dear teacher and fellowstudents. It’s my great honorto sta nd here and sharea happy morning with you. Today mytopic is “Haste

makes waste”.

There is an old saying,” Haste makeswaste.”It is theexperience of our ancestors;however, it is correct inmany cases eventoday.

Usually,if you act faster, you canreach your goals earlier. But itisnot alwaysthe case(常常如此).If youonly emphasize on speed but i gnorethe qualityof your work, your will getthe oppositeeffect.

Suppose you arepreparing for your final examination. Therearealot of exercises to do and many notes to memorize. But you have not enoughtime to do this, so it makesyoufeel worried. Therefore, you have toread andwrite continuously(连续不断地),without sleepand relax ation. The resultby doing this is that your brainis lessand less efficie nt, your process is slower and slower. The situation goes from bad to worse(每况愈下). Allyourefforts lead to nothing.

On thecontrary, ifyou doyour preparationswitha calculated(适合的)planand carryout theplan step by step(逐步地,循序渐进),you rworkwill be effective. Consequently, you will take partin the exams

confidentlywith goodpreparations.

So, whateveryou do,please remember the saying----Hastemakes waste.Ifyou understand it and apply it to your studyor work, you’llbenef it a lot form it.

That’s all.Thank you!

第五篇:《阿甘正传》读后感

The linestouching me most in the book is ‘My momma always said life w aslike a boxofchocolates. Youneverknow whatyou arego anna got.’

Yes,life is fullof uncertainty &puzzle. Forsomeone, they wish to have the power to forecast future. Because they can be wellprepare

for the opportunitiesand challenges and evenknowthe lucky numbers of lotterybeforehand.

But for me, Idon’t want to have such‘ability’ at all. Life isa mysteryandeveryonehas his own way.I enjoythe surprise of receivinggift frommy classmates onmy birthdayand running into an old friend on thestreet in another city, etc. There are so many amazing incidents inmylife which can’t be happen ifI have the power to forecast the future.?ToForrest Gump, who was bornwith intellectual disturbance andmuscle problem in his leg, he never imagined thathecouldbecome a famous American football player, awarhero andeven a millionaire. Forrest won dignity and respect though his strive and perseverance.

Ibelieve Ican make a betterlifefor those I love thoughmyowneffort. Have a little faithforyour life.Let’s enjoy our life eve ryday withdignity, honesty, bravenessand lovejust like ForrestGump!

Good morning / afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Well first of all, I would like to make a brief self-introduction. My name is XXX, i was born in Guangzhou. I am working for a trading company as a shipping clerk. I have many interests, such as running, drawing, singing, shopping and so on. I realize that English is so important in my daily work, so I XXXX. I hope that I can get this good opportunity to practice my spoken English and speak fluent English in near future. My motto is " The shortest answer is doing". Today i will show you a funny story that will be my speech. it is called" Silly Mr. Smith". Mr. Smith is well known in Washington because of his many social errors. He always likes to take part in various social meetings because he wants to make friends with as many people as he can. Recently, silly Mr. Smith received an invitation to a fashionable party. Although he didn't know the hostess, he accepted the invitation. He was secretly very pleased because he felt that he was becoming more and more popular! When the evening came, he dressed up smartly, took a taxi, and told the driver to go straight to the party. When Mr. Smith got there, he found that about a hundred people had been invited. He spoke to all the other guests, whether he knew them or not. Smith was feeling happy. He danced and danced with as many pretty women as he could find, feeling on top of the world. When dinner came, he was asked to sit beside a certain woman. The woman tried to be friendly, even though she had never met Mr. Smith before. Between the first and second course of the meal, she turned to Mr. Smith and said, "Do you see that gray-haired man at the end of the table?" "Ah, yes. Who is he?" asked Smith. "He's the Secretary of the International Department!" she replied. "So that's the Secretary of the International Department!" Mr. Smith said."I'm afraid that I find very little to like about him, although he is the Secretary." The woman did not reply. Smith went on, despite her coldness: "I really can't see how he received his post, unless he is perhaps relative of the President." "It hardly matters whether you like the Secretary or not," she said."He was chosen because the President thought he was the man for the job. If he does the job well, you should have nothing to say against it." "That's just it," said Smith, not easy to give up."No one does the things he does, unless he is a full fool!" "Sir," said the woman in a proud voice."Do you know who I am?" "No," replied Smith. "I am the Secretary's wife," she said coldly. Mr. Smith was greatly surprised, but he went on, in spite of his obvious error: "My dear lady, do you know who I am?" "No, I don't ," the woman replied. "Thank God!"Mr. Smith cried out, and quickly left the table. That 's all .Thank you .

speechonEducation关于教育的英文演讲

S p e e c h 1 Good morning, everyone! This week, we are going to learn a new topic——the Aims of Education. Differ from W hitehea d’s idea; I think the aim of education is to help people form a lifelong learning consciousness. In my eyes, education is not an end, but a means to an end. In other words, we do not educate children only for teaching them knowledge but to help them form a lifelong learning consciousness. 2 We can see that, as education appeared, the aim of it has always been a hot topic to human beings, especially the great thinkers. Their ideas towards the aim of education reflect the educational changes in human society. That is to say the aim of education is not static. In ancient Greek, Aristotle thought that “Education must aim at the development of the full potentialities of each man”. Later, it developed into the idea of training young people to be well-educated gentlemen or citizens in Henry Newman’s workThe Idea of a University. 3 As the society develops, the aim of education has taken in new meanings and implications-----to educate and train people to be all-roundly cultivated persons. To achieve this goal, one has to spend his whole life to learn. However, in the usual case people just spend some years on study in schools or universities. After they leave school, they seldom pick up books. Now the government is advocating building a “learning society”. It provides people chances to do some continuous learning in other schools besides the formal ones, like night schools. 4 In fact, t he idea that education should be throughout a person’s life has been existing for a long time. In China, it can be traced further back to “the Analects of Confucius”. Confucius said, “If some years were a dded to my life, I would give fifty to the study of the Yi, and then I might come be without great faults”. This indicates his idea of lifelong learning. Besides, some famous western philosophers also held the idea that individual education should be a continuous process. For example, the great thinker Aristotle claimed that “Education is the best provision for the journey to old age”. These claims above show that those great educators take education as a long term task. 5 Unfortunately, the time that people spend in schools or universities is limited, so is the knowledge they can learn in the formal schooling. As a result, it is significant for teacher to promote learner a utonomy and guide students to form a lifelong learning consciousness in school. But usually people do not take it serious until they leave school. I would like to take my elder cousin as an example. 6 My elder cousin went to a professional school after he graduated from high school. One year later, he became a workman in a factory. He was satisfied with the job and stopped learning. Yet as time goes by, now he feels that the task is beginning to exceed his ability. This is not a single case happen to those “graduates”. 7 Nowadays, more and more people realize this problem and start to take some measures to solve it. In order to get a higher degree, people take some courses on the Internet or go to night schools to do their further study. Such being the case, why not help people build up their consciousness of lifelong learning when they are still in school Thus they can do some preparation and try their best to create opportunities for further study even after they leave school. 8 To conclude, the aim of education ought to educate people to consider education as a continuous process and form this consciousness in school so that people can receive any kind of education in any time or anywhere to adapt to the development of society.

To the Chinese people it is as important as Christmas to people in the West. The dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the GREgorian calendar. so the timing of the holiday varies from late January to early February. To the ordinary Chinese, the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar New Years Day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar.
