Study the following set of drawings carefully and write an essay in which you should

1) describe the set of drawings, interpret its meaning, and

2) point out its implications in our life.

As is vividly depicted in the figure, in the greenhouse grows a flower, which seems healthy and vigorous in spite of the rainstorm. What makes me astonished is that without the greenhouse, the flower can’t weather the rainstorm at all with its leaves falling onto the ground.

The implication conveyed by the picture to us is that there are many children just like the flowers, who are spoilt too much and are not able to confront the difficulties in the outside world on their own. Then, what are the invisible reasons behind the phenomenon reflected by this picture? First and foremost, with the one-child policy implemented, the Chinese have been attaching unprecedented importance to the children, with almost everything done and arranged for them. What’s more, some people, especially young couples, rather miss the point, putting all their energy and passion into protecting their children from any possible trouble rather than nurturing their children’s capability to cope with the difficulty. Last but not least, what guides the behav ior of the parents is no longer what is right but what makes their children delighted. As a result, the children just behave as they please without considering the consequences.

From what has been analyzed above, we can easily come to the conclusion that the

one-child policy, the over-protection of parents and the improper behavior guideline can account for the phenomenon that the children in current society are so indulged that they cannot face the challenges in the outside world by themselves.
