III.阅读理解

A【a】

We don't know how different our life in the future. We can only try to imagine it.

At first we think about human relationship. In the year 2050, we will use computers almost every day; we will be making new friends through the Internet — even our husbands or wives will be met in this way. It will be much faster and easier for us. On the other hand, our relationships with people won't be as important as they are today — we will feel a little lonely.

Computers will also help us in many other activities in 2050. For example, they will be used by the children at school to make their learning easier. In addition, there will be more other machines which will play a similar role as computers, like robots which will do the housework for us.

Spending holidays will also be completely different. Traveling to other planets or to the moon will be available for everyone. Means of transport will, of course, change, too. We will be using solar-powered cars, which will be much environmentally friendly.

We could expect that the faster economic development would lead to a more polluted environment. But it isn't true. We will pay more attention to protecting the environment. Scientists will probably find cures for many dangerous diseases, like cancer or AIDS. Therefore, our surroundings as well as health will be in better condition.

Although we cannot predict the exact changes which will be made in the world, we often think about them. We worry about our and our children's future; we have expectation, hopes as well as fears. But I think we should be rather sanguine about our future. We should be happy and believe good things will happen.

C.curious D.optimistic

B.Our environment will be much polluted with a growing number of cars.

C.The way of spending holidays will be the same as that of today.

D.The relationship between people will be more important than today.

3.The third paragraph mainly tells ________.

A. that computers will do all the things for human beings

B.how people will use robots to do housework

C.that machines like computers and robots will help people a lot

D.how people will use computers to communicate with each other

4.What does the passage mainly talk about?

A.What high technology will appear in the year 2050.

B.What our life will be like in the year 2050.

C.How people will communicate in the year 2050.

D.How people will travel and spend their holidays in the year 2050.

Five years ago, when I taught art at a school in Seattle, I used Tinkertoys as a test at the beginning of a term to find out something about my students. I put a small set of Tinkertoys in

front of each student, and said:“Make something out of the Tinkertoys. You have 45 minutes today—and 45 minutes each day for the rest of the week.”

A few students hesitated to start. They waited to see what the rest of the class would do.Several others checked the instructions and made something according to one of the model plans provided. Another group built something out of their own imaginations.

Once I had a boy who worked experimentally with Tinkertoys in his free time. His constructions filled a shelf in the art classroom and a good part of his bedroom at home. I was delighted at the presence of such a student. Here was an exceptionally creative mind at work. His presence meant that I had an unexpected teaching assistant in class whose creativity would infect(感染) other students.

Encouraging this kind of thinking has a downside. I ran the risk of losing those students who had a different style of thinking. Without fail one would declare, “But I'm just not creative.”

“Do you dream at night when you're asleep?”

“Oh, sure.”

“So tell me one of your most interesting dreams.”The student wo uld tell something wildly imaginative. Flying in the sky or in a time machine or growing three heads.“That's pretty creative. Who does that for you?”

“Nobody. I do it.”

“Really—at night,when you're asleep?”

“Sure.”

“Try doing it in the daytime,in class, okay?”

5.The teacher used Tinkertoys in class in order to ________.

A.know more about the students

B.make the lessons more exciting

C.raise the students' interest in art

D.teach the students about toy design

6.What do we know about the boy mentioned in Paragraph 3?

A.He liked to help his teacher.

B.He preferred to study alone.

C.He was active in class.

D.He was imaginative.

7.What does the underlined word “downside” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?

A.Mistake. B.Drawback.

C.Difficulty. D.Burden.

8.Why did the teacher ask the students to talk about their dreams?

A.To help them to see their creativity.

B.To find out about their sleeping habits.

C.To help them to improve their memory.

D.To find out about their ways of thinking.

15—16学年上学期高二英语限时训练试题(附答案)

伊川实验高中高二限时训练试题 第一节阅读理解(每题4分,共32分) A Two mayors made a bet on the outcome of the V egetable Bowl, the annual football game between their high school teams. If Arvada’s team lost, the mayor of Arvada would send the mayor of Boulder ten pounds of sliced potat oes, ready for frying. If Boulder’s team lost, the mayor would send ten pounds of sliced tomatoes, ready for sandwiches or salads. Unfortunately, before the game started, the mayor of Boulder happened to hear the Arvada mayor tell someone: “They grow t he worst tomatoes. If they lose and send us their tomatoes, I’m going to give them all to my pig.” The mayor of Boulder was upset to hear this, because he thought Boulder’s tomatoes were the best in the state. So he gave the matter some thought. The following week, the big game was played. Boulder lost its star quarterback in the first half when he tripped (绊倒) over a cheerleader and hurt his big toe. The quarterback sadly watched the rest of the game from the bench. His team ended up losing, 38 to 12. The two mayors shook hands after the game, and the Arvada mayor said, “I’m really looking forward to those tomatoes.” As the Boulder team left the stadium, some unhappy fans threw ripe tomatoes at them. A week later, the mayor of Arvada received a package of beautifully sliced tomatoes. He took them straight to his pig, which ate them right up. That night the mayor of Boulder asked his wife if Arvada’s mayor had called. “No,” she said. “Why?” “Because I mixed a pint (品脱) of hot sauce into the tomatoes and I wan ted to know how his pig’s doing.” 1. Which of the following statements is true according to this reading passage? A. The mayor of Arvada won the bet and got ten pounds of sliced tomatoes from Boulder. B.
