Key Words China English economic terms translation techniques expression features 根据语用学原理,任何经济词汇都具有一定的社会和历史内涵。我国自改革开放以来,出现了大量具有中国特色的经济词汇,它们反映了我国各不同阶段的经济形势、经济方针政策以及相关的经济文化内涵,其英译体现了中国英语的鲜明特色。虽然其中也不乏一些“正宗”的产生于西方国家的经济学术语,但由于在中国的具体运用而使其含义有所改变,更适合中国的国情,反映了中国的经济特点。杜瑞清教授在述评“中国英语”时深刻地指出“由于缺乏对中国特色词的理论研究和应有的指导性规范,中国英语目前在使用上仍处于相当混乱的状态”。中国英语的中国特点的现实性主要是通过其语音、词汇、语法、语篇层面等反映出来。 本文着重讨论词汇层面上的中国经济词汇。 1 中国经济词汇的翻译方法 对具有中国特色的经济词汇的翻译,主要采用直译、意译、直译加注释三种方法。111 直译法 直译法指在不违背英语经济文化传统的前提下,在英译文中保留汉语经济词汇和术语的指称意义,如比喻、形象、民族特色等,目标是做到形式与内容的统一,即“形”“神”兼备。 “铁饭碗”直译成iron rice bowl ,既表达了原词汇的内容,又保存了原词汇的比喻。这是对由国家统一包下来,统一分配的劳动就业制度的形象化表述,真实反映了中国一个时期内劳动管理体制中的主要弊病。 “红包”直译成red packet ,指用红纸包着的钱。这是指1979 年后,在一些企业单位给领导和职工发放奖金与额外报酬的一种形式,反映了中国经济发展中一种特有的经济现象。
