Good morning everybody, I’m very lucky to have this chance to share my ideas on this teaching material---Go for it! Today my topic is Unit8 why don’t you get her a scarf? Of book 2

There are four parts in my report today. They are teaching material analysis, teaching methods, studying ways and teaching procedure.

In part 1Analysis of teaching material, I divided it into five items. First, let’s take notice of the status and function. In this unit, we are going to review and extend ways of making suggestions and giving comments. The content is about choosing gifts and giving comments. These are part of students’ daily life.

Next, I want to talk about Analysis of students, for the grade 8 students. They are curious about new things and they have had the basic knowledge of words, grammar and language structures, so they want to learn more to show themselves.

The third item is teaching aims.

I set up 3 kinds of teaching goals. The first one is knowledge goal which contains the key words and the target language. They are: suggestion, comment personal, special and what should I get my mom? The second one is ability goal which enables students to talk about gift giving and sparing qualities in real situations. The last one emotional goal is to make students learn to care about others, give

suggestions to help others and understand what kind of gift is the best---not the most expensive one but the one with your love.

The forth item is the key points and difficult points in this class, that is the extend ways of making suggestions and giving comments.

As for my teaching aids today, I’ll use a computer and a scarf.

Next let me introduce my part 2: Teaching methods. During this lesson, I’ll use communicative teaching method, Task-based teaching method and audio-visual-teaching method..

Part three is about studying ways.

In the task-based language teaching, students should be the centre of class, so I’ll let them pass observation-imitation-practice way to study and encourage students to study by communication. And also let them know conclusions are necessary for them to learn English well.

Ok, so much for the teaching theories, next I want to share my teaching procedure with you.

Step1: greetings and lead-in

First, I’ll greet all the students. Then I show a gift from my mom. That is a scarf which is made by herself. My mom’s birthday is coming so I want to give her a special gift for her birthday, but I have no idea so I will show some things on the screen and let students help me to choose one. Ask others what they think

of these gifts and choose the most popular one. In this part, students will review some adjectives.

Step2: presentation

Ask if students remembered their mother’s birthday and what kind of gift they should get their mother? Listen to students’ idea s. And give my comments using the target language such as “That’s not special enough. That’s a good idea.” Then give my suggestions, using the target language, why don’t you get…..? Why not …….? How about/what about……? I’ll show these useful expressions on the blackboard.

Step3: listening practice

From this listening, ss can learn more about how to give comments and how to make suggestions with the target language by answering the questions and filling in the chart.

Step4: pair work

Think of a friend or a family member who is having birthday. Discuss with your partner what to get this person. This practice is to make ss care about others and use the target language. I will give a sample on the screen. After several minutes, ask some pairs to show their conversations then have a competition, choose the best gift they think. This aims to make ss understand that the best gift is not the most expensive one but the one with your love.

Step5: debate

Maybe everyone has their different ideas on the best gifts; next we’ll have a debate. Mother’s day is coming, which is the best gift, buying mom something or doing something for her? After the debate, I’d like to have a moral ending: as a student, the best gift for your parents is to study hard; as a child, the best gift for your parents is your love.

Step6: summary

Up to now, ss have mastered all the key points today. I will let them summarize what they have learned on their notebook. I’ll walk around and check.

Step7: homework

Today’s homework is to read Vera’s letter and write to her, give her your suggestions.

Unit 4 Where’s my backpack 一、说教材 (一)、教材分析 本课是人教版新目标英语七年级上册第四单元的第一节课时。本单元的话题是谈论物品的位置。通过单元学习,要求学生在掌握物品名称的基础上用方位介词熟练地表达物品的位置,并能对where问句进行提问并回答。本课SectionA分为两部分,第一部分主要围绕物品名称及位置进行思维(1a)、听力(1b)、会话(1c)三方面对Where’s/ Whereare…?句型进行训练。第二部分是通过谈论位置展开听力(2a—2b)、会话(2c)训练。我根据教材特点,将一些内容进行整合,把1b、2a和2b合起来训练学生的听力,1c和2c合起来训练学生的口头表达能力,让学生系统地学好本课的目标语言。 (二)、教学目标 根据英语新课标,教材大纲的要求和学情(学生对感兴趣的话题较愿意表达)确立教学目标如下: 1、知识目标 (1)、掌握本课的重点词汇。 chair, sofa, table,bed,dresser,drawer,plant,bookcase, where under,on, they.
