friend

Intro: The person I enjoy talking with is my university classmate Song, who was in the same classroom and the same dorm with me during the unforgettable four years study in NanJing. Since we looked very alike each other and went to our cafeteria side by side, many people thought we were twins. Indeed, we are buddies all the time.

As we(share many same interests )have a lot of things in common with each other, we often talk about anything (when we are available ,sometimes on MSN, and sometimes over our mobile phones)whenever we want. Topics are from study to work, from sports to girls. Our favorite topic is football. We often share and exchange our ideas about one game on the line while we are watching it. Every time when we chat, we forget the time.(交谈的原因,内容,目的)

Another reason I enjoy talking with him is due to his good personality. Song is the person I can always rely on and trust. I told him every secret I had when I felt happy or felt down, then he shared my happiness and sadness with me. He is never jealous of me when I am in luck, and never turn his back on me when I am in trouble (adversity).I still remember how patiently and hardly he comforted me on the day I broke up with my girlfriend. I was so grateful for the words he told me: don’t be so sad. There is another better girl waiting for you. (个人品质介绍,引出的故事)In a word, song is not only a good talking partner, but a good listener, a trustworthy guy. Having him as my buddy is my luck! It is just like the saying: a faithful friend is hard to find知音难觅(评价)Father(middle-aged)

The person I’d like to talk about is my father, who is the editor-in-chief of Shanghai Daily.

Although he retired two years ago, yet I still can remember his passion for his career. He is always so professional, competent and knowledgeable in his area.

Father was once given/awarded the top 10 editor-in-chief in shanghai.

Another issue

I also admire his personality. You see, he’s very friendly, hospitable and outgoing.

People in our neighbourhood like to discuss with him about their problems, father also likes to share specialty food he brought from other provinces with neighbours.

Actually, what I learnt most from father is to maintain a positive attitude towards life, never give up. Father is ambitious, adventurous and audacious.

He went through a lot of hardship before he became a successful editor. But he never surrendered, he told me to persist in the face of adversity award, best main actor. Mentally retarded person, to become a successful fishing tycoon.

Old people

Well, Talking about an interesting old person, it reminds me of my grandpa who used to be an mechanical engineer in a construction company. Now he is in mid 70s, retired at home, but looks very amiable and energetic. He is medium built , but a little bit overweight. (外形,性格特点) But actually there’re something much more important than the appearance.

My grandpa is a man of many interests. He loves doing anything from reading to fishing, from watching political news to listening to pop music. We called him a Mr. know everything. Because whenever you ask him what is going on in the world, he can tell you what you want.(兴趣简介)The most interesting thing about him is his fashion sense(引出重点). Once when I talked about the “Chinese idol competition”with my sister on the dinner table, my grandpa suddenly gave his comments on every competitor ,and told us the champion he predicted, it really surprised us. It was really amazing that We never thought a man over 70s can still enjoy those TV shows and loves what young people loves. It totally changed my view on him, soon he became a member of us, from then, I felt we are closer than before. Another interesting thing about my grandpa is he can use internet, last year I bought him a PC, he soon learnt how to use it, and can even use online video camera chat with my parents who lives in another city in china.

All I can say about my grandpa is: he is such an out-going person , and has great sense of humor. we love him very much. there is no generation gap between us , only joy.

A child

My uncle’s son- Tom who is about 6 years old, has chubby cheeks and twinkling eyes. Besides that, he has got curly dark hair. In people’s eye, he is a very adorable and a premature boy.

In kindergarten, he loves showing himself off. Singing, dancing, telling story

It was really amazing :

when he saw I walking in with my girlfriend, he asked: are you in love with each other?

When do you get married? When do you want to have a baby? I have a girlfriend too.

The only thing he is similar to my childhood is that we both love showing off.

(if the child is a girl- she is so obsessed with her beauty, we called her Miss. Mirror)

A neighbor

Lee is a good neighbor as well as a good friends for me.

I`ve known him since I first moved here. He has been living next door to us for 5 years.

We are in the same age, and studying in the same school . so we walk to school every day and became closer with each other.

We have one thing in common that is basketball. We often play basketball in our community basketball court.

A Chinese saying: a neighbor nearby closer than a relative far away

If you ask me about my favorite sports star, I would definitely say Liu Xiang, an excellent athlete from shanghai, who has just successfully achieved the gold medal in 2004 Olympics in athens, he broke the record with l2.88 seconds on the 110 meters hurdle race.

He is not only the hero for shanghai, but the hero for china. Because though chinese athletes have gained more international recognition these days, yet there is still not much progress in track field, however, Liu’s performance was absolutely a breakthrough for the nation. Each of us was hugely amazed and impressed by his performance.

More importantly, he is not only the pride for china, but pride for all yellow people, for he broke the dominance of black people in the track field, creating a miracle that yellow-skinned people have the same strength or ever stronger potential in track field.

(I also know he sings very well, I heard some entertainment company wants to publish an album for him)

A young man full of drive, competent and ambitious sporting spirite like Liu, is really my idol for me to follow, that’s why I like him very much.

多米诺骨牌效应:=Something you learned from math=Something you learned from your family=A piece of advice=A change you had=An important stage in your life=A text message you got=A letter you got=An E-mail you got=A way of communication=An important decision you made=A person who helped you=A kind thing someone did to you=A family member you love talking to=A good parent=An elderly family member=A neighbor=A good friend=A teacher=A science course you took=A subject you love/d at school=Your personality=First day of college=Your experience of getting money as a gift=Your experience of getting congratulations=A person you helped=A thing your friend did made you admire.

下面我们可以看看具体的问题形式(这里只是总结的常见形式,仅供参考) Interviewer: Facing so many disadvantages, do you think there are some effective ways to deal with this situation? Interviewee A: Well, based on the disadvantages of this issue, I think there are some effective methods to deal with the situation. From the government's perspective, a series of rules and regulations should be carried out based on the currently unsatisfactory situation. Hum ... sounds like a good idea. As far as individuals are concerned, everybody should do whatever it takes to comply with all the relevant rules and regulations. Interviewee B: Actually, there are plenty of ways to do.... I guess the top priorit y is …There is no way for ...to ...Another thing ...Besides,...sounds brilliant. Interviewer: What do you think of the future of....? Interviewee: Although the whole thing has a lot of disadvantages, I still prefer to look on the bright side. Call me optimistic or whatever, I mean, nothing on this planet is perfect. It is not like I deliberately

Last birthday party Party you would like to arrange for someone Special meal A festival Public event Special event Cultural event Sport event Family event Wedding/Traditional wedding Interesting event 二、分为3类话题(引入文化差异) 1 Party 1.1 Cultural differences Western countries (1)celebrate every year (2)birthday cake (3)presents (4)make a wish (5)call friends and relatives (6)party for kids include hiring a clown(小丑)/magician(魔术师) (7)party decoration China (1)not every year (2)long-life noodles (3)red-envelop(红包) (4)new clothes (5)not very popular to celebrate birthdays in China on big scale 1.2 Vocabulary 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 11th, 12th, 13th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd wrap(包装)/unwrap(打开包装),candles(blow/blew),gifts/presents,wish(make/made) excited, surprise, invite, two tier cake(双层蛋糕) cake fright: cream all over our faces, in the hair special--10th, 18th birthday are very important in China and usually all the relatives and close friends are invited to attend the dinner/gathering(聚会) 1.3 Example Well, I would like to describe my 18th birthday. You see, because of different culture background in China, not all the birthdays are celebrated. The birthdays which are celebrated big are “when the child is 30 days” in Chinese we call it Manyue (meaning full month), then it is the 100day celebration known as 100Tian, and then is the first birthday, 10th birthday, 15th birthday, 18th birthday and so on. Anyway, I remember on my 18th birthday, which was the birthday I celebrate 3 years ago, my parents arranged a banquet and invited most of the relatives and friends; it’s a big party and more than 100 guests arrived. In the morning my parents gave me my presents, a laptop and a new mobile phone, later I got busy with them until it was time to cut the cake. At the restaurant, we had a wonderful banquet and I received lot of Hongbaos, you see, on big celebration in China people usually put some money inside of a red colour envelop and give it to the person celebrating his birthday or wedding, it’s considered to fortune in the future.

Describe an interesting place to visit Ok, I'd like to tell you about the temple of the Six Banyan Trees. It's located in the city center of Guangzhou and its not far away from Zhongshan 6 Road, near the People's Hospital. It's a good place to go to and climb to see the Flower Pagoda, which has eight sides to it. You can also go there to pray if you are a Buddhist. It is an active temple and is also the head of the Guangzhou Buddhist Association. You can also do a bit of shopping there if you like. Besides the souvenirs you can buy there, it also has a very lively fruit and meat market nearby, so if you just want to shop instead you can. The main feature of this place is the pagoda because it's the tallest in the city. From the outside it looks like it has only nine stories, but actually it has 17 inside. It's quite old, and was built some time in the 10th century. The temple itself is even older than that-I think it goes back to some time

Describe an interesting foreigner you know You should say Who is this?person What does this person do How did you know this person Why do you think this person is interesting Approximately 30 years ago while traveling for business I met an elderly Japanese man I found fascinating. While traveling together I had the honor of hearing about his life. He spoke perfect English with a slight British Accent. He told me learning English was discouraged when he was growing up. However, the challenge of rebelling and learning English was too great. He learned English by listening to the BBC shortwave radio broadcasts and reading anything in English he could find. His language?ability?served him well in later years when he would serve as a?companion?translator to Japanese businessmen and English speaking businessmen in Japan and abroad. As the war in the Pacific dragged on, and it became apparent that Japan was losing, he was drafted into service by the Japanese military and trained to fly at a young age. He was pressed into service to be a Kamikaze. During his first battle he was shot down before he could crash his airplane into its target. He was rescued and imprisoned until the end of the war. The Japanese government thought he had died in battle. Therefore, he no longer officially existed. His family stayed together and alive due to being eligible for food rations. Since he did not officially exist, he could not receive any rations. His stories of subsisting during the post war occupation were sad and unsettling. I subsequently had several opportunities to spend time with him both in the US and Japan. During that time in my career I tried to learn enough Japanese to be a polite visitor. But I also tried to learn as many Japanese colloquialisms and swear words to unexpectedly spring on him for laughs. About 10 years after meeting him, I learned that he had passed away. A most interesting individual whom I admired and was saddened by his passing.

Describe an important occasion when you are late等。 1. a picnic 2. a meal outdoors 3. a special/strange meal 4. a sport event(describe the process) 5. a party/a party you threw for your family members or friends 6. a public event(except sport events) 7. a traditional event 8. a traditional festival 9. a walk with a friend 10. a traffic jam 11. describe last week 1. …start by …,on Day One. 2. After a couple of days to …,you’ll …on Day Three …which will the whole of the day. 3. Day Four takes us …。 4. Then …,that’s Day Five, 5. …before going to …and that’s Day Six. 6. We stay …for Day Seven because then comes the …day,…。 7. Day Nine is …,with part of the day spent in …。 8. Then back down to …and the journey home.

Describe a memorable story told by someone You should say: Who told you the story? When you heard the story What the story was about Why you found it memorable The story that i remember quite clearly is called the Race Between the Hare and the Tortoise. It was told by my father when i was about 6 years old. The story goes like this: an arrogant here thought the was the fastest animal in the forest. Quite interestingly, a tortoise wanted to challenge him. The hare laughed very hard because it sounded very ridiculous to him. The tortoise wanted to have a race with him. The race attracted all the animals in the forest. A staring line was made and off the hare and tortoise went. The hare was very fast, so he was far ahead, then he took a rest. The tortoise, however, kept moving forward slowly but surly. By the time the tortoise came up, his opponent was sleeping. The hare didn’t wake up until it was too late. The winner was the tortoise. It’s a quite simple but meaningful story. It teaches us that, as long as we stick to our goals, we will reach it, no matter what.

3案例分析比 如本季一道考题‘Describe a time when someone made noise’。 第一个抽象段落中,除了开头句型外, 把时间(e.g. last semester),地点(in a café),人物(two guys)交待出来。
