一、专业概述

英语专业(即英语语言文学专业)培养具有扎实的英语语言基础和比较广泛的科学文化知识,能在外事、经贸、文化、新闻出版、教育、科研、旅游等部门从事翻译、研究、教学、管理工作的英语高级专门人才。本专业学生主要学习英语语言、文学、历史、政治、经济、外交、社会文化等方面基本理论和基本知识,受到英语听、说、读、写、译等方面的良好的技巧训练,掌握一定的科研方法,具有从事翻译、研究、教学、管理工作的业务水平及较好的素质和较强能力。

毕业生应获得以下几方面的知识和能力:

1.了解我国有关的方针、政策、法规;

2.掌握语言学、文学及相关人文和科技方面的基础知识;

3.具有扎实的英语语言基础和较熟练的听、说、读、写、译的能力;

4.了解我国国情和英语国家的社会和文化;

5.具有第二外国语的一定的实际应用能力;

6.掌握文献检索、资料查询的基本方法,具有初步科学研究和实际工作能力。二、就业前景

目前英语已经成为事实上的国际通用语言。很多国家和地区都将英语指定为官方交流语言。在世界性国际会议、论坛和学术研讨会,在国际商务谈判和国际商贸合同文本,在外资企业或合资企业工作中,英语已成为重要的交流工具。随着世界经济一体化的迅速发展,特别是我国加入WTO以后,以及2008年北京奥运会的圆满举办,我国更加广泛融入国际社会,与世界各国在政治、经济、文化等领域的交流活动日益频繁,与英语专业有关的行业如外贸、外交、海关、旅游、管理等涉外工作部门获得前所未有的发展契机,使得我国对英语人才的需求数量越来越大。

据劳动人事部统计,英语专业毕业生的就业率一直在各专业中居于前10位。即使在近年来大学生就业普遍不景气的情况下,大多数院校英语专业毕业生的就业率仍然保持

90%以上就业前景乐观。毕业生在走上工作岗位后,大都能发挥他们的外语优势,受到学校、外事部门、公司企业等用人部门的重视和欢迎。随着中国经济发展进一步加快,中国和世界的联系也会加强,在一个较长的时期内,英语专业仍会继续保持自己良好的就业前景。

1.教学类

本专业的学员可从事中小学教育工作,国家对于教育事业十分重视,不断有新的优惠政策推出,政策规定全国教师的平均工资要基本等于公务员的工资,全国教师的住房平均面积要基本接近或等于公务员的平均住房面积。另外,教师每周工作5天,每年有将近3个月的寒暑假,一年13个月工资。很多教师还应家长邀请带家教,课时费不低于40元/1小时。我国的教师现在十分紧缺,尤其是农村地区,很多学校都是一个教师同时兼管好几门课程,不能满足正常的教学要求。

2.经贸翻译类

经贸及翻译方向毕业生能在国家机关、外事、外贸、外企、各类涉外金融机构、商务管理公司、专业翻译机构、出版、新闻、旅游、高级宾馆酒店等部门,承担商务管理、商务翻译、外贸洽谈、经贸文秘、英语编辑、英语记者、驻外商务代理、涉外公关、涉外导游等工作。

3.科技类

IT 及科技翻译方向毕业生能在IT 行业、三资企业、涉外企事业单位、研究所、情报所、新闻出版、政府机关等从事专业技术翻译、翻译管理、涉外行政管理、涉外工程管理、涉外市场销售代表等工作。

自学考试的道路是由同学们的汗水甚至泪水铺就而成的,但最终成功还是要靠科学的学习方法。掌握好的自考学习方法加上持之以恒的毅力,自考道路上的我们才能勇往直前,无所不胜。那么如何寻找到适合自己的自学考试学习方法呢?

首先,认真分析所报专业的课程关系,并结合考试安排表制定学习计划和考试计划。不论你是在校学生还是在职人员,对每个人来说,时间都是宝贵的。生活和工作占据了我们大量时间,想要利用好仅剩的宝贵时间,顺利通过考试,我们必须制定详细而又高效的学习和考试计划。第一,明确规划自己要完成自学考试的所有考核直至取得毕业证所需的时间;第二,明确自己可以支配的学习资源,将借助哪些辅导资料和培训辅导等等;第三,明确自己如何分配时间去强有力的执行这份计划,并坚持到底。

其次,重视非笔试考核,把握考核细节。自学考试除笔试考试外,还有专业课程实践考试和毕业设计等其他非笔试考核。由于非笔试环节考核的考试时间一般比较灵活,很大程度上是由各省市的考试主管机构或主考院校自主安排,而考核内容和考核方式也不尽相同且变动性强,因此,学员要特别留意这方面的信息,以便充分备考。

1.集中精力,扫清自考道路上的最大障碍,解决主要问题。参加自学考试的直接目标是快速获取文凭。为了达到这个目标就必须通过所有课程考试,但课程有难易之分,一旦考试通过了难度较大的课程,就意味着扫除了自考道路上的最大障碍。比如《高数》、《英语(二)》以及核心专业课,参加自学考试开始阶段都激情澎湃.满怀信心,此时就应该趁热打铁,一鼓作气,建议先报考比较难的课程,解决主要问题,随后的课程就只剩安排考试时间的问题了。

2.集中火力,全力以赴复习备考。很多学员将自学考试视为一个长期的复杂工程,而在自学考试过程中由于种种原因拖拖拉拉。然而同样是一个考次的考试,同样复习准备,有的人报了1门,也复习了但考了59分,有的人报了4门全部通过,同样在学习,最终取得的效果却截然不同。原因在于一方面没有做充分的准备,另一方面是没有胆识去报考,去挑战自己。在报考开始就不自信,认为自己不可能在一次报考3门甚至是4门,首先自己否定了自己,给自己心理上施加了自考难度的压力。然而我们要坚信“之所以能是因为相信能”,自考道路上的我们一定要满怀激情,迎接挑战。

3.宏观把握,遵循知识梯度合理安排。每个专业所设置的课程都有一定的内在联系和科学规律,在考试过程中遵循这些客观规律是毋庸置疑的。假如你是专本连读的学员,《高等数学(一)》没有报考,那么就不要报考《概率论与数理统计》。因为概率论计算题要用到高数上的微积分,各专业内的课程之间存在知识梯度,安排考试计划是要根据前导后继课程合理安排,这样才能快速通过考试。

4.未雨绸缪,知己知彼,百战不殆。明确自己的薄弱学科,基础差的课程。一定要正视问题,提前做准备。有时有必要安排两个考次,一旦第一次考试未通过,准备二次备考。比如《英语(二)》,很多学员安排的很紧凑,但英语是自己的薄弱学科,在考前只给自己留了1个月的复习时间,这个时间对于其他课程是比较充分,但对于英语这样一个需要平时积累的课程是远远不够的。因此要根据个人实际情况,在半年前就要做好复习的准备,这与第二点相比更重要,报考过程中既要有激情敢于挑战更要量力而行,做到有勇有谋.智勇双全。

5.有鉴别的听取他人的建议和意见,坚定信念。在自考的道路上很多人成功了,获得的是自信和辉煌,但也有很多半途而废,带着无奈和沮丧退出自考队伍。也许你迫切的希望曾经自考的师哥.师姐帮助你,给你经验,但是一定要选定对象,要知道对方是不是通过了自考?是不是自考的学习高手?能不能给你带来实质性的帮助?如果他是一个自考军中掉队的逃兵,他可能会告诉你十万零一个自考难的理由,让你也早早放弃自考。在这个时候,我们一定要保持清醒的头脑,一旦确定自考就要树立执着到底的精神,告诉自己纵然前面有千难万险在等待着我们,我们将以前所未有的信心和勇气去执着追求!
