Revision for Book One Unit5

Revision for Book One Unit5能力提升I. AAs autumn goes about its business of steadily ruining the garden, ready for the winter shut down, it’s time for us to start planning some spring colour. At the top of the list marked “easy”, we have bulb (球茎) planting, with the ever popular tulip(郁金香)being the flower we will turn to most frequently. There really aren’t many requirements in special gardening skills, but to maximise your successes, there are a few simple guidelines for you. When to plantYou’d better plant your tulip bulbs between September and November. You’ll know this because your local garden center is likely to have cleared space for large buckets loaded with bulbs promising a huge variety of colourful blooms.Choosing your siteTulips look best in borders or containers, planted with greenery neighbors. As a couple of tulips tend to have a lost and lonely look to them, so either give them a patch (一块) where you can create an oasis of colour, or combine them with an area of other plants where their cheerful blooms will brighten the scene.Caring for your tulipsThe bulbs in your borders won’t need much attention, except watering if the ground dries out, which rarely happens during a tulip’s lifetime. For extra healthy plants, give them the occasional feed when they start growing. Container grown tulips will almost certainly need watering. And you’ll need to move them into a shelter to avoid too much water if there are signs that they’re already getting saturated with rain.1. Why does the author recommend tulip in the passage?A. It is the only sign of spring colour.B. It is easy to grow and keep.C. It is the biggest gardening success.D. It can bloom throughout the winter.2. Which of the following is a requirement for growing tulips?A. Planting them alone.B. Growing them in special containers.C. Watering them when necessary.D. Keeping them off longtime sunlight.3. What does the underlined word “saturated” in the last paragraph probably mean?A. very cleanB. completely wetC. much tallerD. a little dryBHave you ever wondered how your favorite NBA team received its name? All NBA teams have an interesting story or a history behind their names. Some of the names reflect the city’s culture or history; others came from previous owners and many were selected through contests. For teams like Los Angeles and Utah, the names were not always a reflection of the city. Even though Los Angeles has no lakes, the Laker name has been a city treasure for almost 60 years. Before going to Los Angeles, the team originated (起源) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1948, team officials chose the name for its direct relationship to the state’s motto, “The Land of 10,000 Lakes.” The team name went unchanged after moving to Los Angeles in 1960. Because Utah’s team originated in New Orleans, Louisiana, it was called the Jazz. In 1974, New Orleans club officials chose the name to represent the city for its reputation as the “jazz capital of the world”. The name stayed with the team even after finding a new home in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1979.The Chicago Bull’s original owner, Richard Klein, named the team the Bulls. He picked the name because fighting bull is relentless(毫不留情的), and never quits. Klein, who founded the club in 1966, believed these qualities were necessary for a championship team and hoped his Chicago athletes would live up to the team name. This is a belief that Bulls, winner of the six NBA championships, have definitely followed. In 1967, the Indian Pacers selected their team name in a different way from most other teams. Their decision was based on what they wanted to accomplish in the NBA. Team officials chose the Pacers name because the organization wanted to set the “pace” in professional basketball. 4.What do the Lakers and the Jazz have in common?A.They have won many championships. B.They kept their names after moving.C.Their names are linked to geography. D.Their names have similar meanings. 5.Why did Richard Klein name his team the Bulls?A.He believed in the spirit of a fighting bull.B.He was fond of wild animal protection.C.He intended to set pace for basketball.D.He was proud of the six championships. 6.What can we learn from the text?A.A good name brings more than luck.B.NBA teams never change their names.C.Minneapolis is well known for lakes.D.Salt Lake City is the world’s Jazz capital. 7.What can be the best title of the text?A.Some Successful NBA Teams B.Relations between NBA TeamsC.Stories of NBA Legends D.Tales of NBA Team NamesCMy Ph. D. adviser called me into his office, saying I needn’t bring my notebook. After 15 minutes of listing my positive things, he looked me in the eye and said, “You are fired from the lab.”I had moved to Israel from my native India the year before, excited to experience a new culture and study for a Ph. D. At first things went well in my new lab. Then, 3 months before I was fired, I ran into some problems. I made a few mistakes in the lab that slowed my research, but I wasn’t aware that my adviser noticed them, and he never spoke to me about any concerns. I’m still not sure why he fired me, but I guess it was because of those mistakes. He wasn’t confident that I could complete my research in time as we’d planned. The first few days after I was fired were especially difficult. I spent hours staring at my computer screen, unable to get anything done. One day all I could do was sit on a beach, crying.I tried to change his mind with promising results, but he stuck to his decision. I could not break the news to my family in India, as the fear of disappointing them overwhelmed (压垮) me. I soon got into a state of sadness and anxiety. Meanwhile, the date for me to leave the country was drawing near, as my visa required me to be registered as a student. I was lonely and without hope.Around that time, I watched Dasvidaniya, a Bollywood movie that’s about a man who has 3 months to live. One line from the movie stuck out to me :“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade (柠檬水)” .What kind of lemonade could I make out of my present situation? My desire to complete a Ph. D. was never in doubt. After much reflection, I told myself that one failed attempt was not the end of the world, and that I needed to give it another try. With renewed confidence, I emailed expected advisers and applied to other programs. Within 2 months, I landed an offer from a Ph. D. program in Italy. I accepted it and relocated to Europe, happy that my goal of completing a Ph. D. was alive once again.I’m thankful that I didn’t give up on my dream and that I found another professor willing totake me on.8. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?A. The personality of the adviser.B. The author’s problems in study.C. The possible reason for the author’s being fired.D. The author’s difficulty in adapting to a new culture.9. What did the author do after being fired?A. He applied for a new visa.B. He got addicted to computer games.C. He tried to change the adviser’s mind.D. He shared the news with his family in India.10. What kind of "lemonade” did the author make out of the difficult situation?A. Persuading the adviser to let him stay.B. Being responsible for different programs.C. Holding the belief to get a doctor’s degree.D. Getting accepted by another Ph. D. program.11. What lesson can we learn from the story?A. Direction is more important than effort.B. Turn to movies for comfort when in trouble.C. A doctor’s degree is important for the future.D. Difficulties in life can be turned into something positive.II. 七选五Have you ever found yourself waiting at the stop for your bus to arrive and have a stranger ask a commonplace question? Perhaps you’ve stood in line waiting for a coffee and feel the need to just look over to the person next to you and ask about the weather. 12 Small talk may seem like a waste of time. ___13____ “Big relationships are built on small talk,” Lindy Pegler, who has a master’s degree in psychology, wrote on Medium. In fact, we spend a lot of our time making small talk. 14 Coming up with small conversations is the foundation (基础) of these relationships. The benefits of such conversations can actually contribute to our happiness and benefit our lives as a whole. Researchers found that having a healthy amount of acquaintances (熟人) and maintaining these relationships contribute to one’s sense of belonging to a community.___15___ It can be as simple as asking about their day or commenting on the traffic. “First and foremost, small talk is an act of politeness,” Pegler noted.Who knows where this can lead? 16 You might find someone who has a common interest, or maybe even someone who turns out to be a close friend. There is one thing for sure: making small talk can brighten our day.A. Some people don’t like small talk.B. So how does one start making small talk?C. Small talk is a natural way for people to connect.D. But it serves an important role in our social interactions.E. In fact, the small connections we make can lead to big results.F. This is small talk, and despite the name, it’s actually a big part of daily life.G. PEP三年级上册《Unit5 Revision》评课稿

PEP三年级上册《Unit5 Revision》评课稿

PEP三年级上册《Unit5 Revision》评课稿PEP三班级上册《Unit5 Revision》评课稿柴冬儿老师执教的是PEP1Unit5Revision.这节课以have a picnic为话题对本单元的重点句型Can I ?Id like,please.以及Here you are. Thank you.You are elcome以及单词bread, egg, juice, milk,ater, cake, fish, rice进行复习巩固。

Let's have a picnic today.引出本节课的主线索have a picnic。

Can I ?Id like, please.以及Here you are. Thank you.You are elcome以及单词bread, egg, juice, milk, ater, cake, fish, rice。
