对于网络教学的看法英语作文

对于网络教学的看法英语作文The Evolution of Education: The Role of Online Teaching. In the rapidly evolving landscape of education, online teaching has emerged as a transformative force, reshapingthe way knowledge is imparted and received. This mode of instruction, often referred to as e-learning or distance learning, has revolutionized the traditional classroom setup, offering unprecedented flexibility and accessibility. The most significant advantage of online teaching isits accessibility. Students from diverse geographical locations can participate in courses without beingphysically present in a classroom. This removes barriers such as geography, time zones, and physical disabilities, enabling a truly inclusive education system. Furthermore, online teaching platforms often provide recorded lecturesor asynchronous learning materials, allowing students to review content at their own pace and convenience.Flexibility is another key aspect of online teaching. Both students and teachers can schedule their classes and learning activities according to their personal schedules, eliminating the need for strict adherence to a fixed timetable. This flexibility is particularly beneficial for working professionals or individuals with other responsibilities who may find it difficult to attend traditional classes. Moreover, online teaching fosters a collaborative and interactive learning environment. Through forums, chat rooms, and online discussions, students can engage with their peers and teachers, sharing ideas and seeking clarification on concepts. This interactive aspect of online learning encourages active participation andcritical thinking, essential skills for life-long learners. However, despite its numerous advantages, online teaching also presents some challenges. One of the primary concerns is the issue of technology accessibility and reliability. Not all students have reliable internet connectivity or access to suitable devices for onlinelearning, which can create significant barriers to participation. Moreover, the lack of face-to-face interaction can sometimes make it difficult to establish a sense of community or build meaningful relationships within the classroom. The social aspect of learning is oftenoverlooked in online settings, leading to a more impersonal learning experience. To address these challenges, online teachers need to be particularly adept at creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment. They must be skilled in using various technological tools to foster interaction and collaboration among students. Additionally, they should strive toestablish a sense of community by organizing virtual events, group projects, or discussions that promote teamwork and mutual learning. Moreover, to ensure equity in online teaching, it is crucial to provide additional support and resources to students who may face technological barriers. This couldinclude providing alternative learning materials oroffering additional guidance and mentorship to help them overcome their limitations. In conclusion, online teaching has opened new horizons for education, offering unprecedented accessibility and flexibility. However, it also poses challenges that require innovative solutions and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. As we continue to navigate the future of education, it is important to recognize the potential of online teaching and work towards optimizing its practices to benefit all learners.。

2 Approach
Our goal is to make a system which can not only interact with a user by accurately recognizing gestures, but which can learn new gestures and update its understanding of gestures it already knows in an online, interactive manner. Our approach is automated generation and iterative training of a set of Hidden
robot learns to perform a task by observing a human teacher. Much e ort is being directed toward the research of systems for gesture/observation-based programming of robot systems. Tung and Kak 1] demonstrate automatic learning of robot tasks through a DataGlove interface. Kang and Ikeuchi 2] developed a system for simple task learning by human demonstration. Voyles 3] developed a system for gesturebased programming via a multi-agent model. One capability which is currently lacking in systems such as these is a mechanism for online teaching of gestures with symbolic meanings. Most gesture recognition systems either require some explicit programming, or in the case of neural-nets, require o ine training of model parameters. Such systems are thus unsuitable for interactive applications where gestures must be taught and then recognized without waiting for an o ine training or programming phase. A teach-by-demonstration system should also be able to learn a new gesture or skill in an online manner and with a very small number of examples. This simpli es the teaching process because it more closely resembles the manner of instruction which we commonly use to train people. In this paper, we present a gesture recognition system which can interactively recognize gestures and learn new gestures online with as few as one or two examples. It is also able to update its model of a gesture iteratively with each example it recognizes.
Markov models which represent human gestures. Using this approach, we have built and tested a system which recognizes letters from the sign language alphabet using a Virtual Technologies `Cyberglove'. The most basic assumption we make about the nature of human gestures are that they are \doubly stochastic" processes. These are Markov processes whose internal state is not directly observable. For each state transition in such a process, the system generates an observable output signal whose value depends on a probability distribution which is xed for each internal state. A model of such a system is called a Hidden Markov Model (HMM). Modelling human gestures as HMMs allows us to deal with the highly stochastic nature of human gesture performance. For computational simplicity, we assume that the the HMMs are `discrete' HMMs. These are HMMs whose observable outputs are members of a nite set of symbols. Before we can use discrete HMMs to model gestures, we must therefore preprocess the raw data from the gesture input device into a sequence of discrete symbols. Gesture recognition is, to a certain extent, a process of data compression, where we input a large amount of raw data and output a signal value that represents the classi cation of the gesture. This compression process is composed of two stages. The greatest data-reduction occurs when the preprocessor converts the large, multichannel stream of data from the gesture input device to the sequence of discrete observable symbols. We reduce about 0.5-1.0 Kbytes of data from the Cyberglove to a sequence of 5-10 observable symbols from a set of 32 and 256 symbols, which is a reduction of about 100:1. Since the online portion of our gesture learning process is limited to the modi cation of the parameters of HMMs, this data-reduction greatly increases the speed and simplicity of the online learning process by focussing the HMM on modelling speci c features of the signal.
Abstract
We have developed a gesture recognition system, based on Hidden Markov Models, which can interactively recognize gestures and perform online learning of new gestures. In addition, it is able to update its model of a gesture iteratively with each example it recognizes. This system has demonstrated reliable recognition of 14 di erent gestures after only one or two examples of each. The system is currently interfaced to a Cyberglove for use in recognition of gestures from the sign language alphabet. The system is being implemented as part of an interactive interface for robot teleoperation and programming by example.
