第一部分选修六Module 1Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2019·宁夏银川高三三模) Many years ago,my dad was facing a serious heart condition. He was unable to do a steady job.He fell suddenly ill and had to be admitted to the hospital. He wanted to do something to keep himself busy, so he decided to volunteer at the local children's hospital. My dad loved kids.It was the perfect job for him.He ended up working with the seriously ill children. He would talk, play, and do arts with them. One of his kids was a girl with a rare disease that paralyzed(瘫痪)her from the neck down. She couldn't do anything, and she was very depressed. My dad decided to try to help her.He started visiting her in her room, bringing paints, brushes and paper. He stood the paper up,put the paintbrush in his mouth and began to paint. He didn't use his hands at all.All the while he would tell her, “See,you can do anything you set your mind to.''At the end of the day, she began to paint using her mouth, and she and my dad became friends.Soon after, the little girl was sent home because the doctors felt there was nothing else they could do for her.My dad also left the children's hospital for a little while because he became ill. Some time later after my dad had recovered and returned to work,in came the little girl who had been paralyzed and only this time she was walking. She ran straight over to my dad and hugged him really tight. She gave him a picture she had done using her hands. At the bottom it read:”Thank you for helping me walk.''My dad would cry every time he told US this story and so would we.He would say sometimes love is more powerful than doctor, and my dad—who died just a few months after the little girl gave the picture—loved every single child in that hospital.语篇解读:这是一篇记叙文。
2019届高考英语一轮复习练习:必修51Unit1知能演练轻松闯关含解析

Ⅰ阅读理解A(2017·浙江卷10月)It’s surprising how much simple movements of the body can affect the way we think. Using expansive gestures with open arms makes us feel more powerful, crossing your arms makes you more determined and lying down can bring more insights(领悟).So if moving the body can have these effects, what about the clothes we wear? We’re all well aware of how dressing up in different ways can make us feel more attractive, sporty or professional, depending on the clothes we wear, but can the clothes actually change cognitive(认知的) performance or is it just a feeling?Adam and Galinsky tested the effect of simply wearing a white lab coat on people’s powers of attention. The idea is that white coats are associated with scientists, who are in turn thought to have close attention to detail. What they found was that people wearing white coats performed better than those who weren’t. Indeed, they made only half as many errors as those wearing their own clothes on the Stroop Test(one way of measuring attention). The researchers call the effect “enclothed cognition,”suggesting that all manner of different clothes probably affect our cognition in many different ways. This opens the way for all sorts of clothesbased experiments. Is the writer who wears a fedora more creative? Is the psychologist wearing little round glasses and smoking a cigar more insightful? Does a chef’s hat make the resultant food taste better? From now on I will only be editing articles for PsyBlog while wearing a white coat to help keep the typing error count low. Hopefully you will be doing your part by reading PsyBlog in a cap and gown(学位服).【解题导语】本文讲述了Adam和Galinsky所做的一个关于穿着白大褂人们注意力的实验。

课时练1阅读理解提速练Ⅰ阅读理解A(2018·沈阳市高三模拟)Wild elephants can tell whether a voice comes from a man,a woman or a boy,a new study says. That’s what researchers found when they played recordings of people for elephants in Kenya.Scientists say this is an advanced thinking skill that other animals haven’t shown. It lets elephants figure out who is a threat and who isn’t.The result shows that the clever animals are also studying people, said study author Karen McComb.“Basically, they have developed this very rich knowledge of the humans that they share their habitat with,”said McComb,a professor at the University of Sussex in England.“Memory is key. They must build up that knowledge somehow.”The study was released on Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. It’s close to but not quite like the Dr.Seuss’s book, where the elephant Horton hears something that others can’t hear.McComb and colleagues went to Amboseli National Park in Kenya, where hundreds of wild elephants live among humans, sometimes coming in conflict over scarce water. The scientists used voice recordings of Maasai men,who on occasion kill elephants, and Kamba men,who are less of a threat to the elephants. As a result, the elephants reacted more defensively—retreating and gathering in a bunch—to the Maasai language recording because it was associated with the more threatening human tribe, said study co-author Graeme Shannon. They repeated the experiment with recordings of Maasai men and women.Since women almost never spear elephants, the animals reacted less defensively to the women’s voices. The same thing happened when they substituted young boys’ voices.“Making this kind of fine distinctions in human voice patterns is quite remarkable,”said Emory University animal cognition expert Frans de Waal, who was not part of the study.【解题导语】研究表明野生大象能够识别男人、女人和男孩的声音,它们通过思维区分声音并判断谁能对他们产生威胁。

In 1914, Goldberger was asked by U.S. Surgeon General Rupert Blue to study a skin disease that was killing thousands of people in the South. The disease was pellagra(糙皮病).Goldberger traveled to the state of Mississippi where many people suffered from pellagra. He studied the victims and their families. Most of the people lived a hard life. The doctor came to believe that the disease didn’t pass on from one to another, but was instead related to food. He received permission from the state governor to test this idea at a prison. Prisoners were offered pardons if they took part. One group of prisoners received their usual foods, mostly corn products.A second group ate meat, fresh vegetables and drank milk. Members of the first group developed pellagra. The second group did not.But some medical researchers refused to accept Goldberger’s idea. For the South, pellagra was more than simply a medical problem. There were other things, including Southern pride. So Goldberger had himself injected(注射) with blood from a person with pellagra. He also took liquid from the nose and throat of a pellagra patient and put them into his own nose and throat. He even swallowed pills that contained skin from pellagra patients. An assistant also took part in the experiments. So did Goldberger’s wife. None of them got sick.Joseph Goldberger died of cancer in 1929. He was fiftyfive years old. Several years later, researchers discovered the exact cause of pellagra:a lack of vitamin B3 known as niacin.【解题导语】本文是一篇记叙文.文章介绍了美国医生Joseph Goldberger研究糙皮病的患病原因的过程.Joseph Goldberger医生的认真、牺牲精神令人感动.1.Who were easy targets of pellagra according to Goldberger?A.People in America.B.People put into prison.C.People having a poor diet.D.People touching pellagra patients.C解析:细节理解题.根据第二段中的“Most of the people lived a hard life...the disease didn’t pass on from one to another, but was instead related to food.”,再结合Goldberger在监狱进行的实验的内容可知,在Joseph Goldberger看来,糙皮病和食物有关,而且患者大多生活条件差;再结合实验中提到的主要吃玉米制品的犯人最后患上了该病可知,不良的饮食容易导致人们患糙皮病.2.What did Goldberger want to prove by the experiments mentioned in Paragraph 4?A.Pellagra wasn’t so terrible.B.Pellagra didn’t spread.C.Pellagra could be cured.D.Pellagra wasn’t a medical problem.B解析:推理判断题. 3.Which words can be used to describe Goldberger?A.Devoted and determined.B.Selfless and friendly.C.Patient and expert.D.Stubborn and enthusiastic.A解析:推理判断题. 故选A.Ⅲ任务型阅读(2018·江苏时堰中学第一次测试)When you feel disappointed, you should know it is natural and normal, and everyone will experience it to some extent in their life.Sometimes life deals us a difficult hand, and events and trials arise that we have no control over.Other times it is our own actions themselves that cause our trials.Regardless of the nature of our trials, disappointment is part of life’s journey and how we deal with it will largely determine the quality of our life. Here are some steps to help us to make our journey more enjoyable.Firstly, redefine our rules. It is assumed that everyone has an internal “rule”in their mind.If our internal rules are too perfect, then they will discourage us greatly. For example, if we have a rule that says we need to be perfect, it is likely that we will spend a large amount of time feeling sad and disappointed. So when we feel disappointed, it is wise to review and redefine our rules.Want an example of an encouraging rule? Try this one: I am happy and I am successful since I have made my greatest efforts.Secondly, remind ourselves now and then of the reasons why we are seeking the very goal.As a matter of fact, there are many cases where we have forgotten our original purposesalong the way.So it is of great help to remember the reasons why we are committed to a path in the first place when we feel down.By revisiting those reasons, we will likely renew our commitment and not get hung up on the disappointment of the moment.Thirdly, think about our larger vision and recommit to it.Disappointment is merely a setback on what will eventually be a great and inspiring journey. So when we have those momentary setbacks, it is helpful to think about our larger vision and recommit to it.In our larger vision, therefore, a disappointment is a very valuable experience, which serves as a good educator and makes us more able to meet the challenges of the future. Finally, reset and have a new start.Resetting and starting anew prevents us from abandoning ourselves to self-pity and forces us to get up and move forward.Don’t live in the past.Take what the past has taught us and keep moving.Wake up the very next day as if our whole life is ahead of us and we have the chance to start fresh.Nothing that happened in the past can stop us from creating the life that we have always desired or from accomplishing the goals that we are seeking.6.Remember/Revisit/Recall7.reminded8.capable9.learned/learnt10.qualityB卷Ⅰ完形填空Honesty is always the best policy, especially when it comes to mental health problems. Ⅰ阅读理解AMary Krupa became friends with the grey squirrels during her firstweek at Penn State, after spotting them running around and idly(漫不经心地)wondering what they would look like with tiny hats on their heads. Today, everyone at the university knows her as the “Squirrel Girl”.Mary started bringing them food, and gradually they began to trust her. She managed to put a hat on a squirrel and take a picture. Thinking that her colleagues could do with something to lift their spirits, she started posting similar photos on Facebook. The response was greatly positive, and before long Mary and her squirrels became an Internet sensation.Growing up in a neighborhood outside of State College, Mary was always fond of birds and animals around her home, but she didn’t interact(交流) with people very much. She was later diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, but the squirrels changed that. “The squirrels help me break the ice, because I’ll be sitting here patting a squirrel and other people will come over and we’ll just start like feeding the squirrels together and chatting about them, ” she said. “I am a lot more outgoing.”And in case you’re wondering how Mary is able to get the squirrels to do what she wants for her photos, it has a lot to do with food. For example, whenever she wants them to hold or play with something, she puts peanut butter on the prop(道具), and they’ll grab it. But getting to that part took a while. In the beginning, she would throw peanuts up the trees on campus and invite the squirrels to come down and get them, but they hesitated to approach her. She had the patience to earn their trust, though. This year, Mary is graduating with a degree in English and wildlife sciences. She wants to be a science writer and educate people on how to preserve the environment. As for her furry friends, Mary plans to stay in the area and visit them as often as she can.【解题导语】 宾夕法尼亚大学的“松鼠女孩”Mary曾经被诊断出患有阿斯伯格综合征,但是松鼠改变了她,使她变得外向起来。

必修三Unit 5阅读理解·组块专练——练速度(限时:35分钟)Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2018·河北五校联盟质检二)As a substitute teacher, my daily routine involves driving to a new school almost every day so I’m usually unable to anticipate (预料) the day’s events, good or bad!On one particular day, I was teaching in a very difficult class. I was managing behavior all the morning and by lunch time, I knew I needed coffee to even consider surviving the afternoon. So on my lunch break, I drove to a nearby plaza to get a cup of coffee. Upon returning to the car I realized I had locked my keys and my phone inside! I had about 15 minutes to get back to the school which was a good 4- or 5-minute drive away. I contemplated (考虑) rushing back, but it being winter, I thought a nasty fall on ice would only make the situation much worse. So I ran into a McDonald’s which was in the same plaza and asked the man at the counter who happened to be the manager to please call me a cab. I briefly explained my situation to him, and I could tell by the look in his eyes that he empathized. He hurried to the back to use the phone while I paced in the restaurant. I had less than 10 minutes to get back to my school at this point. The manager returned only to tell me that the cab company had put him on hold and then the line got disconnected, and that he was now on hold again, but had not been able to request the cab yet. My expression, I assume, began to resemble some combination of hopelessness and fear.Without a thought, he grabbed his coat and offered to drive meto the school. Without hesitation, I followed him into his car and made it back into my classroom with 2 minutes to spare before the bell!Upon arriving at the school, I thanked this man endlessly. His calm behavior and kind nature made me think he was probably a wonderful manager to work for, and also a wonderful human being to have on this earth. This experience makes me realize that out of every seemingly hopeless situation, there is the opportunity for acts of kindness to transpire (发生), which can have an unimaginable impact (影响) on those who receive them.语篇解读:本文是一篇记叙文。

B(2018·石家庄高三教学质检二)Almost everybody in America will spend a part of his or her life behind a shopping cart. They will in a lifetime, push the chrome-plated_contraptionsmany miles. But few will know — or even think toask — who it was that invented them.Sylvan N. Goldman invented the shopping cartin 1937. At that time he was in the supermarket business. Every day he would see shoppers lugging groceries around in baskets they had to carry. One day Goldman suddenly had the idea of putting baskets on wheels. The wheeled baskets would make shopping much easier for his customers, and would help to attract more business. On June 4, 1937, Goldman’s first carts were ready for use in his market. He was terribly excited on the morning of that day as customers began arriving. He couldn’t wait to see them using his invention. But Goldman was disappointed. Most shoppers gave the carts a long look, but hardly anybody would give them a try. After a while, Goldman decided to ask customers why they weren’t using his carts. “Don’t you think this arm is strong enough to carry a shopping basket?” one shopper replied. But Goldman wasn’t beaten yet. He knew his carts would be a great success if only he could persuade people to give them a try. To this end, Goldman hired a group of people to push carts around his market and pretend they were shopping! Seeing this, the real customers gradually began copying the phony (假的) customers. As Goldman had hoped, the carts were soon attracting larger and larger numbers of customers to his market. But not only didmore people come —those who came bought more. With larger easier-to-handle baskets, customers unconsciously bought a greater number of items than before.Today’s shopping carts are five times larger than Goldman’s original model. Perhaps that’s one reason why Americans today spend more than five times as much money on food each year as they did before 1937 — the coming of the shopping cart.错误!5.What do the underlined words “chrome-plated contraptions” in the first paragraph refer to?A.Baskets. B.Private cars.C.Suitcases. D.Shopping carts.解析:选D词义猜测题。
