Unit2OnwardsandUpwards短文巧记单词导学案高中英语选择性

新外研版高中英语选择性必修一Book 4 Uni t 2短文巧记单词一、朗读并翻译理解Three Days to See 假如给我三天光明Everyone knows that success rarely happens overnight. Even highly successful writers of great literary works have previously faced criticism on their manuscripts along with rejections from many publishers. Despite high debts and slow pace, they persevered and never dreaded being turned down.Take for example J.D. Salinger, who had struggled to get his novels published since high school. After graduation, he turned over a new leaf and chose to serve in the US Army, aiming at building character and developing physical fitness. Throughout his war service, he kept cool as a cucumber and kept working on The Catcher in the Rye, which became a global success when eventually published. So, it seems that talent alone isn’t enough to guarantee success. While a lot of hard work and a touch of luck play a part, perseverance is the key.Perhaps the overall prize for perseverance should go to Helen Keller, who was stricken blind by certain disease. Nevertheless, she regarded this as a blessing making him more appreciative of sight, and finally published Three Days to See, which became an immediate bestseller and is regarded as classics of world literature. The following are excerpts from this book.On the first day, I should want to see the people whose gentleness and panionship have made my life worthwhile to live. I used to “see” the outlines of their faces through my fingertips. In the afternoon, I should take a long walk in the woods and intoxicate my eyes on the beauties of the nature. On my second day, I should go to museums to see t he pageant of man’s progress and probe into the soul of man through his art. The beauty of things, which is worthy of note but I knew through mere touch, should be revealed to me by sight. The following morning, I should again greet the delightful dawn, anxious to discover new delights, new revelations of beauty. Today I shall spend in the workaday world, amid the haunts of men going about the business of life. At midnight permanent night would close in on me again. Only when darkness had again descended upon me should I realize how much I had left unseen.I who am blind can give one hint to those who see: Hear the mighty strains of an orchestra asif you would be stricken deaf tomorrow. Touch each object you want to touch as if tomorrow your tactile sense would fail. Smell the perfume of flowers, taste with relish each morsel, as if tomorrow you could never smell and taste again.Helen Keller’s positive attitude is an inspiration to us all. With life being made up of ups and downs/twists and turns, it is not always easy to maintain an enthusiastic attitude. When you pete against others in a speech contest but failed, you may feel low. When you ran for Head of the Student mittee but weren’t selected, you may feel upset. When you e across a wet blanket instead of an eager beaver, you may feel embarrassed. If you don’t lift a finger or drag your feet, you won’t be delighted to see the eventual oute. In fact, it is within the pages of Three Days to See that we can find these words: “I honour endurance, perseverance, industry, talent; because these are the means by which men achieve great ends…”二、核对译文众所周知,成功很少会突然到来。
