真正写好一篇英语作文，需要的是扎扎实实的语言基础和功底，不是靠突击背记几篇范文就能实现的。
如何在日常教学中把握教学要求，将这些目标渗透到学生高中英语学习过程中，是教师尤其应该重视的。
一、创设话题情境，让学生敢于表达
写作课的主题情境设置可以参考每单元的话题，围绕话题，灵活运用本单元的词汇、句型展开讨论和写作，实现读、说、写“三位一体”。
学习“友谊”这一话题时，笔者采用“头脑风暴”的形式，引导学生列举出真正的朋友所具有的品质，学生很快就大胆说出许多新学的单词：honesty，justice，warm-hearted， devoted等。
笔者在黑板上一一呈现出来，引起学生对这些单词的关注。
然后，学生分小组选取其中一种品质展开讨论或者小辩论。
这种课堂交流，更多是在教师指导下的生生互动，无形中鼓励学生动脑开口，锻炼语言运用能力。
最后，学生将课堂生成的内容形成文字，活学活用。
这样，学生的写作与教材内容、日常生活相关性极大，既锻炼了说、写能力，又加深了对单元话题的理解，一举多得。
二、强化语法意识，让学生正确表达
高中英语语法内容虽多，但在作文中频繁使用的语法是可以总结归类的：1.形容词副词的原级、比较级、最高级；2.被动语态；3.虚拟语气；4.非谓语动词；5.名词性从句、定语从句、状语从句；6.倒装句、强调句。
教师不妨以例子的形式将常见的语法渗透在教学口语和作文评讲中，在实践中教学效果相当明显。
这些语法形式也可以综合使用，例如在同位语从句中可以使用倒装句并以高级副词修饰动词及句子：One thing remains true that（同位语从句） only when it is specially（副词运用）designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student will education be truly effective （倒装）.
三、掌握英式“替换”，让学生精于表达
教师应将英语中“替换”（paraphrase）的概念自然而明确地传达给学生。
高中阶段学过的常用书面词汇、由构词法变化而来的新词、同义词、反义词在作文中要尽可能地使用，多用短语替代单词，适量用复合句替代简单句。
如用It suddenly occurred to me that……（我突然想到）替代I had an idea（我想到）；用spare no effort to do（不遗余力做某事）替代try to do
（尝试做）；用not only…but also…（不但……而且……），either…or…（要么……要么……）等替代简单的主谓结构句和以and， but等连接的句子。
如何提供“替换”训练的素材呢？课文是重要的素材来源，其内容十分丰富。
笔者要求学生准备专门的好词好句本，时时背诵，创造模仿空间；定期设计仿写练习，加强对教材某一句、某一段的原文再现或模仿。
例如：Only by sharing can the soul be strengthened， vision cleared and ambition inspired. 这个句子同时使用了only置于句首的倒装句式、被动语态和排比的修辞，学生可以使用这种写法自己创造内容不同的句子。
如：Only when you stay focused will your time be seized， your energy concentrated and your life goal attained.
要达到文笔优美的效果，还可适当配以谚语：Being wrong is unavoidable， a toddler falls off the ground for many times before he knows how to walk， and a child learns how to swim after he drinks water in the swimming pool.（小孩学步不免会跌倒，人学游泳不免会呛水。
）
另外，雅观的书写是对美文的升华，一手漂亮的英文给人带来的是赏心悦目的感受。
总之，要写好高中英语作文，需要教师在日常教学中重视写作课的实效，引导学生有意识地分析教材话题、落实教材基础知识和高中语法，学以致用，并强调书写的重要性。
