Many people go to see him every day, so he’s often very busy. He really needs to rest when he goes home in the evening.Dr. Smith lives in a nice neighborhood outside the city. All of his neighbors are very quiet, except for a young man, Mike, who moved into the flat above Dr. Smith just last month. Two weeks ago, the young man bought a piano and began to play it every evening after he got home from work. Unfortunately, he didn’t play very well, so he would practice for a long time every evening. Ever since the piano playing started, Dr. Smith has not been able to fall asleep. He has been very angry recently and has gone upstairs many times to tell the young man that his neighbors cannot fall asleep because of his playing. However, the young man forgot many times and the piano playing has continued. One day the young man fell ill and had to go to the hospital. Dr. Smith looked him over and said, “If you stop playing the piano at night, you’ll soon be all right.”When the young man left, one of the nurses asked, “Does playing the piano have anything to do with his recovery, Dr. Smith?”“It certainly will!” said Dr. Smith. “That young man is my noisy neighbor.”参考答案Part A略Part B略(见听说材料)Part C信息点:1. When this industrialization occurs, many new factories open and workers get jobs. Unfortunately, many of these new jobs don’t last long. The leaders of an industr y want their factories to produce as many goods as possible, and they will try their best to achieve that goal. Whenever they can, they take advantage of automation, which means that workers are taken the place of by more efficient machines. As a result, those trained for a specific factory job lose their jobs. What’s more, the owners of factories want to make the profits as high as possible. Many experts in Third World economics are worried about rapid industrialization because it brings problems as well as progress. The leaders of Third World countries should be aware of the dangers as well as the advantages of rapid industrialization.【参考答案】1-5 BABCA6-10 BCABC11-15 ACABB 16-20 CABAC21-25 DBAAB 26-30 CCAAD31-35 ACADB 36-40 BDDCA41-45 BCBAD 46-50 BDBCA51-55 CBACA 56-60 DBBCA61-65 DDBCB 66-70 CBACD71. in which we flew to72. will we be taken apart73. Dave Carter is my best friend. We met when we were five years old because our parents were friends and then we ended up going to the same school. He works in a different city now, so I only see him on weekends and holidays. We know each other really well. We laugh a lot together and we enjoy the same things: football, going to bars … the usual stuff. When I’m feeling down or when I need to talk to somebody, I can always call him. Recently, I had some trouble with my
girlfriend and he was a big help —he’s a really good listener. He just let me speak my mind while he listened. But he isn’t perfect! He’s always late and he never apologizes! The last time I saw him was last weekend. We arranged to meet at four o’clock to play footba ll, and he arrived at half past six! It was nearly dark! Oh, well, nobody’s perfect, right? He’s still a really good friend.

M: No. I just read about ten pages this morning. I almost fell asleep reading it, so
I picked up this magazine.
W: How’s the magazine?
M: Interesting. I’m reading an article right now about Anne Hathaway. She’s one of my favorite movie stars.
W: She’s really pretty, isn’t she? She’s very popular with young people.
M: Yes, I especially love her eyes. They are so big and brown.
W: Oh, look. She’s starring in a new movie that’s on this evening. Do you want to watch it?
M: I’d love to, but I can’t.
W: Why?
M: I have a date with Flora this evening. We’re going to a Justin Bieber concert tonight.
W: I love Justin Bieber. He’s my favorite singer.
M: You girls seem to be crazy about him. But I don’t like him that much.
W: I’d love to go to his concert. Any chance you have an extra ticket?
M: Sorry, tickets sold out three days ago. It really took me a long time to find two tickets to the concert.

(Text 5) M
Well, we have a mixed picture over the next few days. Today in Britain, it’s a little cold and windy. You can see from the satellite picture that the highest temperatures, as they so often are, are in the southern parts of Europe, where it’s also quite dry. It’s going to be quite cold over the northwestern parts of Europe and it will be rainy. The best of the sunshine will be in the south. The weather looks pretty good but cool in the eastern parts of Europe.
Now let’s look at tomorrow’s weather. It will be very much the same in the south except that the rain will start to push up into the northern parts. It will stay fine in eastern Europe, but still wet and windy in many northern parts, and a bit
cool, too.
第二节到此结束。
