我的家乡在腾冲英语作文

我的家乡在腾冲英语作文

My hometown is a place of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, nestled in the southwestern part of China. Its called Tengchong, a small city in Yunnan Province, known for its volcanic landscapes, hot springs, and a history that dates back to ancient times. Growing up here has been an unforgettable journey, filled with experiences that have shaped my understanding of the world. The first thing that strikes you about Tengchong is its breathtaking scenery. Surrounded by mountains and lush greenery, the city offers a serene environment that is a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of urban life. As a child, I would often accompany my grandparents to the nearby fields, where the fresh mountain air and the sight of the sun rising over the horizon were a daily reminder of the simple joys of life. One of the most distinctive features of Tengchong is its volcanic terrain. The city is home to over 80 volcanoes, some of which are still active. This geological wonder has not only made Tengchong a popular destination for geologists and tourists alike but has also influenced the local way of life. The volcanic soil is incredibly fertile, and the farmers in the region have been able to cultivate a variety of crops, including rice, tea, and various fruits.Hot springs are another major attraction in Tengchong. The city is dotted with numerous natural hot springs, each with its own unique temperature and mineral composition. My family and I would often visit these springs, especially during the colder months, to relax and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the warm waters. The hot springs are not just a source ofcomfort they are also an integral part of the local culture, with many festivals and celebrations centered around them.Tengchongs history is as rich as its natural resources. The city has been an important trade hub since ancient times, with the famous Southern Silk Road passing through it. This has led to a fascinating blend of cultures and traditions, which is evident in the local architecture, cuisine, and festivals. Growing up, I was always fascinated by the stories of traders and explorers who once traversed these lands, and the impact they had on the development of my hometown. The local cuisine in Tengchong is a testament to its diverse cultural influences. From spicy Yunnan dishes to milder flavors influenced by neighboring regions, the food here is a delightful fusion of tastes and textures. My favorite childhood memory is of eating hotpot with my family during the winter, a meal that brings warmth and comfort in the cold weather.Festivals in Tengchong are a vibrant celebration of the citys cultural heritage. One of the most significant events is the WaterSplashing Festival, which is a traditional Dai festival celebrated in the spring. The streets come alive with music, dance, and the joyous act of splashing water on each other, symbolizing the washing away of bad luck and welcoming of good fortune.Education in Tengchong has always been a priority, and I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to learn and grow. The schools hereemphasize not only academic excellence but also the importance of preserving and promoting the local culture and traditions. As a student, I was encouraged to participate in cultural events and activities, which helped me develop a deep appreciation for my hometowns unique identity. In conclusion, Tengchong is more than just my hometown it is a place that has nurtured my growth and instilled in me a sense of pride and belonging. From its stunning landscapes to its rich cultural heritage, Tengchong has left an indelible mark on my heart. As I continue my journey through life, I carry with me the lessons and experiences that this remarkable city has given me, and I look forward to sharing its beauty and charm with the world.。

It isa national 4A level tourist attraction.Within this garden, there are 5 Dai natural villages, the best preserved ones in Xishuangbanna. They are Manjiang Village (bamboo sheath village), Manchunman Village (garden village), Manzha Village (chef village), Manga Village (marketing village) and Manting Village (palace garden village). The whole garden has integrated the natural and humanistic scene of Xishuangbanna Prefecture. It is surrounded by rivers and lakes, nestled in green trees, sent forth the fragrance from fruits and flowers, curled up the Sanskrit tone, giving visitors a mystical and auspicious feeling. The 5 villages are now inhabited by 1,536 people from 326 families. Here people live harmoniously with each other, so are man and nature. It is the Dai’s Mengbalanaxi (meaning glary, ideal and mystery in Dai language), and the earthly paradise of the Dai’s. It is also a place to experience exoticliving habits, to appreciate a typical bamboo house-on-poles, traditional handicrafts, folk songs and dances, as well as the mysterious Southern Buddhist culture. Now we will visit the Manjiang Village. In Dai language, “man” means village and “jiang” means bamboo laps or se ts dedicated to lift up big stones. “Manjiang” refers to bamboo village. The Dai houses are the unique two-storied bamboo buildings on poles, a typical residential building style popular in tropical area. Building as such is cool in summer and warm in winter. The downstairs generally serves as the storage house while the upstairs is used as the living room. Bedrooms are separated from the sitting room by bamboos boards. In the middle of the sitting room is a bonfire while is regarded as a symbol of happiness and prosperityof the whole family. For this reason, any striding over the bonfireis impolite. The whole family shares one bedroom, only separated by mosquito nets of different colors. Usually deep colored nets are used by the married, while white or light colored ones are used by the unmarried. Bedrooms are regarded as a mysterious place and no peering is allowed by strangers. Visitors to the family will be accommodated in the sitting room. Generally speaking, residential houses for Dai people are ventilated, pleasantly cool and wet-proof. They are also easy to build. The bamboo house is the dwelling place of the Dais while the Buddhist temple is ahabitat of the soul of the Dais. The Dais in Xishuangbanna worship Southern Buddhism, so where there is a village there is a Buddhist temple. There are taboos to be avoided when visiting a Buddhist temple. Visitors should shut their mouths so as not to make irresponsible remarks; Worshiping the Buddha definitely needs sincere desire, and then sincerity works miracles. On this there are several taboos: no touching on a monk’s head and cassock, no patting on the shoulder and body, no gesticulating in front of the image of the Buddha, no striking on the Buddhist drum, gong and other musical instruments of the temple.Dai people are known to believe in southern Buddhism. Southern Buddhism believes that Sakyamuni is the patriarch or teacher, so the Buddha Statue in the temples is more human-like in size, figure and facial expression. And Southern Buddhism requires that a man be a monk for a period of time in his life in order to learn religious knowledge as well as cultural knowledge. For Dai people, Buddhist temple is not only a place for worshiping Buddha, but also a school for boys. The process of being monks is period for Dai boys to learn knowledge and experience their monkhood before the age 17.Now we are going to the largest open air theatre of Yunnan tourist area--- Mengbalanaxi Theater. It is where visitors appreciate Dai songs and dance while having a rest. Some Dai folk dances includes peacock dance, candle-bar dance, long fingernail dance, fish dance, knife dance, stick dance and fist dance, which covey unique styles of the Dais. The well-known dancers Dao Meilan and Yang Liping are regarded as two golden peacocks flying out from Xishuangbanna. Also we can join in the Eastern Carnival —Water splashing Festival in the Dai Garden.Water-Splashing Festival falls in mid April and lasts for three days. It is not only a traditional gala for Dai people but also a carnivalin the East. It is the New Year for Dai people. Dai people celebrate this festival with dragon boat races, throwing pouches (a bag (pouch)-throwing contest for finding a sweetheart) and shooting “gaosheng” (local firecracker). On the second day, the Dais often hold sand-piling and chicken-fighting activities while the third dayis a time for Dai people to express good wishes to each other. It is believed that the King of Dai arrives and the Dai people are sure to give the Buddha a bath and they get together, sprinkle water on each other for a blessing. Here people can splash water on their loved ones and close friends, washing away the worries and troubles. Young girls would gently sprinkle water on visitors from afar, wishing them good luck and happiness.Dai people often say, “The more splashing water one gets, the luckie r he becomes”. Basins of sacred water would bring happinessand make one forget all the worries. This activity and the cultural elements it contains impresses tourists from around the world.篇二:云南导游口试腾冲和顺导游词今天我们要去游览的地方就是被誉为“中国十大魅力名镇之首”,也是云南著名的桥乡——和顺乡。

To big city dwellers, small towns always seem fascinating, in the year of 2006,China’s CCTV (China´s largest national TV network) chose ten small towns as “the most charming towns in china ” from more than a hundred candidates. The towns were selected on the merits of their natural scenery, cultural heritage, local folk customs, and economic vigor. Each of them is notable for something unique. we are going to take a closer look. And the only winner in yunnan, is just the destination on our today’s itenarary , the heshun town. with beautiful scenery and abundant cultural traditions, the town is China's earliest border trade town. A favorite of film directors, photographers, and painters,Well, you may wonder , Does the town deserve this honorable title? Seei ng is believing, today, let’s go to find out!Heshun, Used to be called “yangwendun village”,but it was renamed heshun ,means “along the river” ,because geograghcally, a river named sanhe flows by the town from east to west. Later some local men of letters adopt some words from a vers to name the town “harmonius and peaceful”: (the rising cloud herald auspicious future and the gentle breeze brings peace and harmony. ) So the name of heshun actually express local people’s wishes for a happy life. For many years, the southern silk route has connected China with southeast Asia, south asia and Europe. Tengchong was a vital comunications center of this route, Located on this route, Heshun enjoyed many conviniece for business, so it was a comman practice that men shoud go abroad to make a fortune. From the Ming Dynasty, a growing number of Heshun people went to burma to trade and seek a livelihood.in the early 20th century ,more people went to Japan, Europe,America for a living or for further study. So now the overseas chinese from Heshun are distributed in more than 10 countries, numbering more than 10,000 people.yet the total population of the Heshun town is only 6000. that’s why Heshun is known as a famous hometown of overseas chinese.ok here we are just at the entrance to the town,we are actually tralve back to the old time, At the entrance to the town, is a splendid memorial archway (born out of arched door, a typical Chinese ornamental architectural form, enjoys a particular position in the traditional Chinese culture.) with four chinese characters (meaning heshun enjioy harmonny and peace). The two arch stone bridges are called double rainbow bridges. local people often come here for an outing in spring and for appreciate the moon in autumn..The pavilion in the lotus pond called yuzhou pavilion. It was built in memory of Cun shusheng ,firdt principle of yuquan middle school in heshun and then the vice-president of yunnan university.which indicates that the local people attach great importance to educati on and show great respect for teachers. In the pavilion, there is a tablet inscribed with the pavilllion name by chu tunan former vice-president of the standing committee of national people’s congress.Nor far away from the bridge is what Heshun locals are probably most proud of ,also the highlight of today’s tour. that is the Heshun library, the earlist and largest rural library in China. It is a long story, in the late Qing Dynasty, in heshun there arose a progressive orgnization called “xianxinshe” ,which aimed to populizing new ideas and new culturesl1n 1924,some heshun overseas chinese to Myanmar orgnized “chougxin league” and established a reading league. In 1928,with the joint efforts of the overseas chinese and the native, the reading league was developed into a library, the site for xianxinshe was chosen as the site for library. Many overseas chinese donate a lot of equipment and books to the libraryl. In 1938 with the growthof book collection and the number of readers, the old library was pulled and a new one was erected on its site. Next door is the former Confucian Temple (Wen Miao),which is now part of the library. As we can see, the library is a two-storied building in both west and chinese style, upstairs are stock room while the downstairs are reading rooms.in the library we can see some inscriptions by famous figuer in chinese history, such as xiong qinlai, liao chengzhi. the library houses about 70 thousand books. Many of them are rare edition of ancient works. So some scholars travel tens of thousands of miles to see them.Besides the books there are more than 150 kinds of newspapers and magazines are available at the library.the library is not a museum, it is a indispensible part of people’s life in Heshun.here you can see farmers reading neespaper, students reviewing their lessons in a quiet room ,this is a quite rare view in most coutryside in china.the library is not left behind by the digital revolution, computers were recently introduced to the library, so the local people can share their stories with the rest of the world, online. Now the library is a state-protected relic site. With such rich culture, It is no surprise that a whole host of renowned Chinese scholars sprung from this village, for example,Li yuegai,a senior statesman of the 1911 revolution, was the secretary-general of First army of the YN troops for safeguarding the Republic. And his son,li shengxun, also name Ai siqi, most famous Chinese philosopher,he published his “popular philosophy” at the age of 24, the book influenced the generations succeeding the mid 1930s. After the foundation of the people’s republic of china, he became the associate director of china philosophy institution and professor of BJ university. His former residence is in the east of the town,we will pay a visit to the house later.Architecture is a distict feature of heshun, most of them were uilt in the Qing Dynasty and by overseas chinese. Wanlouzi is the typical example of the residential house, the building got its name because its wall were built along the curved alley.it used to be the site of “yongmaohe” a firm founded in the Qing Dynasty, it was run by two brothers of a li family ane Wanlouzi was regarded as a symbol of prosperity and wealth.now W serve as a museum of civil residential houses. In the first courtyard is an exhibitiong about the Li family and the second is a exhibition about civil residential house, the back courtyard is a househould hotel.Another civil residential house is Ai siqi’s former residence, li lies in the small vilage in the east of Heshun town, the buiding is a typical example in Chinese and western styles.it stands with a hill as a background and overlooks a pond , it enjoys beautiful surroundings,in the house,we can see a collection of his manuscripts and personal belongings.Clothe s-wa shing pavilions make up atnother special scene in Heshun. Due to the unique topography in Yunnan Province, its rivers and streams are sometimes calm and at other times turbulent. The local men built the pavilions to provide shelter for the women when they doing washings,so they are called Clothe s-washing pavilion. Women with rolled up sleeves washing clothes in the clear stream is a pleasing sight in harmony with their natural surroundings.。
