The Truth--A book report of Famous Cases of Sherlock HolmesThe book is composed of four stories-T he Solitary Cyclist, the Beryl Coronet, the Engineer’s thumb, The Red-headed League. The main character named Sherlock Holmes, he is a detective. He is a cautious man, and has a strong observation. In all cases, we can find that most of them were figured out by his observation. He is also good at inferring, even through a petty thing, he can discover something immense. He solved a lot of difficult cases for others through his strict reasoning. After so a lot of difficult cases were settled by him, he is famous in England, so, if someone has troubles that polices can’t solve, they will turn to him. Accompanied him is a doctor called Watson who is acted as a secretary of Holmes. He is not a very intelligent man, but he is willing to listen to Holmes’s word, so, he helped Holmes a lot.The novel is written by Mr. Watson, who is the first person tells us these stories. So it makes us thought that the book is a novel composed of many real stories. That shows the intelligence of the author of this book-Conan Doyle-the father of Holmes. We gotta say that Conan Doyle is really a master that he can make readers think these cases really occur.Arthur Conan Doyle, the son of Charles Doyle and Mary Foley, was born in Edinburgh on 22nd May 1859.His father was an alcoholic and the family was always short of money. Atschool, Arthur developed a strong interest in the books written by Sir Walter Scott and Edgar Allan Poe. He studied at Edinburgh University and helped to fund his course by working as a surgeon on Hope. The following year he worked on Mayumba, a passenger ship bound for West Africa. On this voyage Conan Doyle nearly died of typhoid. On his return, Conan Doyle set up as a doctor in Southsea, a suburb of Portsmouth. With very few patients, Conan Doyle attempted to make money by writing detective stories. His main character, Sherlock Holmes, was based on Dr. Joseph Bell, a surgeon and criminal psychologist, who lectured at Edinburgh infirmary. In 1819 Conan Doyle published six Sherlock Holmes stories in the strand magazine. The following year he was paid 1,000 for a whole series on Sherlock Holmes. Conan Doyle really wanted to write historical novels like his hero, Sir Walter Scott, and in 1893 decided to kill off Sherlock Holmes in the story. However, after suffuring from considerable pressure from his fans, he returned to write his best known detective story The Hound of the Baskervilles.Arthur Conan Doyle was died in 1934.The Solitary Cyclist is a tragedy related to a female bicyclist. One day she came to Holmes’ home, said that she was followed by a stranger and asked Holmes helped her. At first, Holmes didn’t pay attention to it. But after his investigation, he found the truth and save the woman from the villain. The Beryl Coronet is about a father wronged his son of stealing his jewels. But the fact is that his son is the one who protect it and the realthief is his niece who trusts most. The Engineer’s Thumb tells us a story of a hydraulic engineer cheated by a colonel who is a real one steal money. He found the something strange by chance and is cut the thumb. With the help of Holmes, the police found that place, but unfortunately those guys have escaped. The Red-headed League writes a red-headed person happened to a lucky job that he can do nothing in four hours but gain 200dollors a year. But after two month he found the league disappeared. Actually, it is a fraud. It’s about a robbery, but is seen through by Holmes. These entire four stories are similar in a respect that is because of the observation that these cases can be worked out. I thought the reason why this novel is so successful is that the cases in it are very changeful. They can always go beyond our mind. Sometimes the case gets stuck in some troubles, and we thought the leading character will have nothing to do, but then it will get out of it. Sometimes we consider that the case will develop in the way which we imagine, but it happened in the opposite way. One of the brilliant aspects is that it is hard for us to judge who is the real bad person, what’s more funny is that the person who we guess is the bad person because of misunderstanding, and is the real good man who sacrifices himself for protecting something. All these sides show the superb the skill of the author and meanwhile, they become the charm of the novel. As far as I am concerned nothing is more admirable and surprising in the hero Sherlock Holmes than his profoundknowledge which has certainly assisted him a lot when he was studying the case. According his stories, he has studied different kinds of newspaper, cigarettes, people’s footprints and other special things as well. Therefore, he seems to have the mastery of anything relevant to the cases he deals with. Expect for his brilliant knowledge, Holmes also specializes in arranging the facts in order and then finding the fact leading him to a great discovery or even the truth itself. From his speaking “Even mystery has an answer” we can readily shape the impression of a man with great intelligence and inflexible will. In this case, after getting rid of unrelated facts Sherlock Holmes eventually grasped the clue and discovered the amazing fact.。

《达芬奇密码》英文读后感

《达芬奇密码》英文读后感导语:《达·芬奇密码》小说集合了侦探,惊悚和阴谋论等多种风格,并激起了大众对某些宗教理论的普遍兴趣。
下面是yuwenmi小编为大家整理的优秀英语读后感,欢迎阅读与借鉴,谢谢!Informal feedbacks and opinions about “The Da Vinci Code”Okay, at first I have to admit that “The Da Vinci Code” is an amazing book. When I read in mid-parts, sometimes I just wanna to ask, “Okay, okay, what is happening?” It is a horrible period to let an eastern person to understand western religions in sudden. And so, this book basically is in love with the western religion issues.Honestly, the author is a genius that he organizes plots and conflicts so dramatically and delicately. It’s like a gift. Reading the book is taking a roller coaster, and even worse, your eyes are forced to be close, the world is full of empty black and you got no idea what the railway go next. Everybody seems likesuspect. There is absolutely an organization that was killing people and tried to hide something, which is the secret truth. Langdon knows that. Langdon figured the secret organization--priory of Sion at last, and it shows everything is related, the death of Saunière led Langdon all the way to Rossiyn Chapel, with finding “the rose line” the first prime meridian (RGO) that located France, Paris, Louvre. Where the story ends.I can not understand that why the followers of Christianity and Catholicism would ever think that pain is good for people and human kind is meant to be guilty because they make the “God” or “Guesses Christ” mad or hurt. Actually I am a real big fan of Christopher Hitches, so now you see. The keystones are in great demand. Everybody wants them, and the truth behind of the keystones. They are delish. Christianity and Catholicism want it because it tells where the secret documents that could destroy the religion is. Where the San-greal is. Dramatically, San-greal is not a real cup, but a woman. Mary Magdalene. Mary Magdalene was legend by the wife of Guesses, who born the true blood of royal(Guesses Christ). The conflict only have one aim that are the keystones and behind of them, which is the San-greal. The plot descripts different personality well, and discovers the characteristics behind different force that was struggling the San-greal distinctly. In order to understand what is happening, and what are the symbols, characters, numbers really mean, and understand why the followers of the religion will be so obsessed, the reader have to place himself in the version of a total western guy, or a follower. Because of the different believe probably, I could not comprehend some of the strange behaviors (I mean they are weirdoes) that author described in story, but as a horror plus suspense fiction, I think “The Da Vinci Code” is better then “Sherlock Homes”.I quite enjoy the reading, and thanks for the ones that borrow the book to me.“达文西密码”的非正式反馈与意见首先,我必须承认“达文西密码”是一本了不起的书。

When I began to page on the Da Vinci Code, I entered an extremely awesome world, which I had never gotten in touch with before. It is a popular suspense novel that written by Dan Brown, the ideology in which was fancier than any other similar detective books that I have read before. Owing to my intense admiration,I want to write down the article to recommend and introduce the profound masterpiece.
How to judge the author? The acknowledged introduction is as follows. Dan Brown is an American author of thriller fiction, best known for writing the controversial 2003 bestseller, The Da Vinci Code. In my opinion, he is more than this. A courageous and original challenger, who never care about what he said might peeve the religion or go counter to the dogma. An outstanding and favored master, who was proficient in the paintings of Renaissance and acquaintance the profits and entanglements among the several religions.
As far as I am concerned, what makes the book so famous? There are a great deal of precise reasons, which include larruping viewpoints about the paintings of DaVinci and the accurate description of every characters' moral actions. They all have their distinctive characters. Thanks to the author's meticulous depictions, when we are absorbed in the book,Robert Langdon,Fache,Bihop Aringarose and the albino named Silas just like act in front of us in the flesh.
The book follows symbologist Robert Langdon and
cryptoligist Sophie Neveu as they investigate a murder in Paris's Louvre Museum and discover a great number of the entanglements among the several powers. The title of the novel refers to,among other things, the fact that the murder victim, the curator Jacques Sauniere, was found in the Grand Galley of the Louvre, naked and posed like Leonardo Da Vinci's famous drawing, the Vitruvian Man,with a cryptic message written beside the corpse and a pentagram drawn on his chest in his own blood.
At the very beginning, they found the secret in the painting The Last Supper that the person who sat on Jesus right was a woman, which led to the battle between the Priory of Sion and Opus Dei over the possibility of Jesus having been married to Mary Magdalene. After they got the coffer from the Zurich savings bank,Sophie opened it by the code which was written by his grandfather on the floor, which was the Fibonacci sequence. In order to know more about the chalice, they asked help for Teabing, who was versed in chalice. Nevertheless,Teabing was not only a rich kind Britain nobleman but also The Teacher who was dying to obtain the keystone and the chalice with fanaticism. He used Langdon and Sophie to open the cryptex to find where the chalice was hidden. In the meantime,he lured Aringarose and Silas to kill the four masters of the Priory of Sion, who were hated bitterly by himself. Fortunately, the keystone and the chalice didn't get by the one who was unworthy to attain the secret. Langdon and Sophie found the tomb of the knight in the church of Rosslyn. The blade and chalice are together, just like the man and the woman. After the
adventure,Langdon fell in love with Sophie. The love which went though the difficulty and trouble would be valuable and stable.
Dan Brown brought forward the unusual views of The Last Supper and the Saint Mum At Rock, which impressed me. Only by the moment that you comprehend what the book wanted to speak to everyone, can you catch sight of that not only the DaVinci or Caravaqqio but also the Christ,Opus Dei or Catholicism, all have fresh but meaningful visages.ingful visages.。
