Where there is no room for delay and hesitation, there must be no hesitation or delay. So only with ___46___ of consideration, courage and confidence can we get over any difficulty. We can be ___47___ and realize our aims in life only by just getting the three points put together. And about 20 percent of health-conscious Australians are believed to eat the national symbol already."It's low in fat, it's got high protein levels and it's very clean in the sense that basically it's the free-range animal," said Peter Ampt of the University of New South Wales's institute of environmental studies.68. Scientists intend to put bacteria into cattle and sheep________.A. to prevent them from sending out harmful gasesB. to help Australian farmers to earn more moneyC. so that they can protect Australian ecosystemD. so that they can make full use of special bacteria69. Athol Klieve seems to believe that ________.A. cattle and sheep produce more carbon dioxideB. less cattle and sheep are raised in New ZealandC. farm animals are to blame for greenhouse gasesD. New Zealand has the most animals in the world70. The main idea of the text is to _____.A. discuss a better way to protect the eachB. warn farmers of the danger of animal wasteC. illustrate the possible solutions to pollutionD. present a recent study on global warming71. Which is NOT one of the advantages that Peter Ampt lists about kangaroos?A. it is rich in proteinB. it is low in fatC. it is cheaper than beefD. it is cleaner than sheep(C)When in doubt, cut that out! Yeah, yea, Doubting Thomas may have had a point in his day, and life may not be what you want it to be, but if you constantly doubt yourself, how can you accomplish anything?Where is your confidence? What possible good can come from taking the negative aspect of any situation and growing it into acceptance?Purpose of achievement is to attain a goal. So, if you set your goals and strive to get there, it should be assumed that you are moving toward your goal no matter what you are doing, right? When watching a football game, one of those great high school starter games, set to determine who starts when the real games begin, I noticed the coach called “defense” only when the team was “protecting” their goal. As long as the team was fighting for more ground they played “offense (进攻)”. Along the same lines, I’ve heard the phrase, “a strong defense requires a good offense.”Simply put, if you concentrate more on gaining ground than on protecting your goals, your accomplishments will be greater. Time spent protecting your goals is wasted time, when you could be working toward attaining your goals rather than preventing others from reaching their goal.In business, if you waste your time focusing on what your competitor is doing rather than working toward meeting your goals, you won’t get very far.Focus your attention on where you’re going. Don’t waste time worrying about where your competition is. You will gain ground while they are watching you. Smile as you reach your destination.72. The writer of the passage intends to tell us ________.A. a common rule in a football gameB. how to beat our competitorsC. how to overcome our doubts and achieve our goalsD. how to deal with doubt in our business7236. The author’s purpose of mentioning Doubting Thomas in the first paragraph is to ________.A. show that famous people change our lifeB. tell us to succeed we should not doubt ourselvesC. ask us to learn from successful peopleD. tell us it’s quite natural for people to doubt themselves74. The author suggests that in business we should ________.A. avoid too much competitionB. seek as much cooperation as possibleC. focus on our own goalsD. know our competitors as well as ourselves75. The passage is intended for ________.A. football playersB. coachesC. businessmenD. common readers(D)76. ________ Freelance (自由者) is a word that goes back to medieval (中古的) times when it was used to describe soldiers who sold their skills to those prepared to pay their market rate. Today it’s an increasingly common way of working for people in a range of occupations and appeals to many who feel constrained by corporate culture.77. ________ What you gain is freedom of movement; what you can lose is a sense of belonging. You can end up feeling isolated from normal support networks, because suddenly you are responsible for your own welfare, training, safety, career development, equipment, professional updating and a thousand other things, it is easy to remain unaware of these things in the relatively cosseted existence of full-time employment. So before you leap up into this exciting and potentially rewarding way of working, stand back and take a look at the risks. 78. ________ Freelancing has always been a common way of working for writers, artists and performers, but the range of occupations with a substantial number of freelancers is growing steadily. Anyone with a marketable skill can choose to go it alone. Websites offer a free directory listing for those with skills to sell. Their categories include accountants, healthcare consultants, landscape architects and computer trainers. Areas of work that have problems recruiting staff are always keen to employ freelancers.79. ________ Being a freelance is different from other forms ofself-employment — you still work for an employer or several employers but have to develop a completely different set of relationships with them. Employers are now your customers, you are their supplier. You have to become indispensable (不可缺少的) to them, providing solutions to their problems, some of which they may not even realized they had. In many ways you have to behave like their dream employee, being more willing and available than you may have got used to whilst in a “proper job”. 80. ________ You also have to be aware of, and sensitive to, the fact that you can be seen as a threat by your customer’s conventional employees, who may regard you as taking work they could do. Successful freelancing relies on the co-operation of everyone you come into contact with. Work that brings you into conflict with an existing workforce can be more troublesome than it’s worth.(E)A popular saying goes, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” However, that’s not really true. Words have the power to build us up or tear us down. It doesn’t matter if the words come from someone else or ourselves —the positive and negative effects are just as lasting. We all talk to ourselves sometimes. We’re usually too embarrassed to admit it, though. In fact, we really sho uldn’t be because more and more experts believe talking to ourselves out loud is a healthy habit. This “self-talk” helps us motivate ourselves, remember things, solve problems, and calm ourselves down. Be aware, though, that as much as 77% of self-talk tends to be negative. So in order to stay positive, we should only speak words of encouragement to ourselves. We should also be quick to give ourselves a pat on the back. The next time you finish a project, do well in a test, or finally clean your room, join me in saying “Good job!”Often, words come out of our mouths without us thinking about the effect they will have. But we should be aware that our words cause certain responses in others. For example, when returning an item to a store, we might use warm, friendly language during the exchange. And the clerk will probably respond in a similar manner. Or harsh and critical language will most likely cause the clerk to be defensive.Words possess power because of their lasting effect. Many of us regret something we once said. And we remember unkind words said to us! Before speaking, we should always go through a “ask-yourself” test: Is it true? Is it loving? Is it needed? If what we want to say doesn’t pass this test, then it’s better left unsaid.Words possess power: both positive and negative. Those around us receive encouragement when we speak positively. We can offer hope, build self-esteem and motivate others to do their best. Negative words destroy all those things. Will we use our words to hurt or to heal? The choiceis ours.(Note: Answer the questions or complete the statements in NO MORE THAN 10 WORDS.)81. As to the power of words, the author believes they can either___________________.82. People should only speak words of encouragement to themselves to ___________________.83. What does the underlined part “give ourselves a pat on the back”mean?84. What should we do if the “ask-yourself test” is not passed? 1. 这个的在心,交通十分便捷。

There are also signs, says Professor Martin, that an unusually large number of such children are mentally affected. The professor says,“It’s true,my personal feeling is that children should stay in one school. But our findings are based on research and not on any personal feelings. 〞Captain Thomas James,an Army lecturer for the past 20 years and himself a father of two, said,“I’ve never heard of such rubbish. Taking me for example. no harm is done to the education of my children, who change schools regularly—if they keep to the same system,as in our Army schools. In my experience—and I’ve known quite a few of them—Army children are as well adjustedas any others,if not more so. What the professor doesn’t appear to appreciate is the fa ct that in such situation children will adapt much better than grown—ups. "When this reached Professor Martin,he said that at no time had his team suggested that all children were backward or mentally affected in some way,but simply that in their experience there was a clear tendency.“Our findings show that while the very bright children can deal with regular changes without harming his or her general progress in studies, the majority of children suffer from constantly having to enter a new learning situation〞.64.Professor’s Martin’s report suggests that.A.it may not be good for children to change schools too oftenB.parents should not move around the countryC.changing schools is the reason of children making slow progressD.more and more children are mentally affected65.According to the passage,Professor Martin's personal feeling.A.is the opposite of what his report has shownB.is in a way supported by his researchC.has played a big part in his researchD.is based on the experience of his own children66.From the passage,we can conclude that Captain James’children.A.have been affected by changing schoolsB.go to ordinary state schoolsC.can get used to the Army school educationD.discuss their education regularly with their father67.About children and grown—ups,Captain James says that children.A.are generally poorly—adjusted B.are usually less experiencedC.can adapt much more easily D.can deal with changes quicklyDLanguage is a major problem for the European Union(EU). The agreement or treaty(条约)which created the organization that eventually became the EU,the Treaty of Rome, stated that each country’s language must be treated equally. The 0riginal six countries had onl y three languages between them:French,German and Dutch/Flemish. However, there are now 15 countries in the EU,with a total of 12 languages. EU documents must be translated into all these languages, and at official meetings, the speeches must be translated into all the languages by interpreters. All this translating is very expensive and time consuming(费时的). it is said that nearly half of all employees of the EU are engaged in translating documents and speeches, and nearly half of the EU’s administrative(管理方面的)costs are spent on this task. In the near future it is probably that several more countries, most 0f them having their own languages, will join the EU,thus making the situation even worse. The problem is not just cost:there are practical difficulties as well. With 12 languages, there are 132 possible“translation situations〞that might be needed. It is often difficult to find people in the right place at the right time who can translate from(for example)Danish into Greek,or Dutch into Portuguese,at a high professional standard. In practice, the problem has been made less severe by the use of English in many contacts between EU officials, since almost all of them speak some English. However, any action to reduce the number of official languages(perhaps to four or five)would be a blow to the price of the smaller countries. Another commonly suggested solution is to make English the official language for all EU business. However, this is strongly resisted by powerful member countries like France and Germany. 68.What’s the main purpose of this passage?A.To give a solution to a problem.B.To find out a problem and show how severe it isC.To criticize the European Union for inefficiencv(低效).D.To show that the problem cannot be solved.69.According to the writer, the use of English in contacts among EU officals has.A.angered the officials who don’t speak EnglishB.lessened the number of official languagesC.reduced the effect of the problemD.been supported by powerful member countries70.The writer mentions“Danish into Greek〞as an example of.A.a situation that might be difficult to deal withB.a situation that occurs oftenC.one of the 12 situations that requires an interpreterD.languages easily being interpreted71.The writer suggests that if the number of official languages was reduced,.A.the EU would not know which official languages to chooseB.countries whose languages were not used officially would be unhappyC.only easy languages would be used officiallyD.the smaller member countries would be pleasedE“Wanted by the FBI. 〞To the murderer,or the bank robber, these are the most frightening words in the world. When the criminal hears them,he knows that six thousand trained persons are after him.Why should he be so afraid? There are thousands of cities and villages where he can hide, and forests and deserts,as well. Besides,he’s usually rich with stolen money.Money can make it easier to hide. With money, the criminal can even pay a doctor to operate on his face and make him hard to recognize. But the criminals know that as public enemies, they can be found by the FBI no matter where they hide. They know every trick the criminal knows and many more. If he makes just one mistake,they’11 get him. That’s why the man who is wanted can’t sleep. That’s why he becomes nervous, why he jumps at every sound. The FBI began on May 10th,1924. General Harlan Stone chose Edgar Hoover,a young lawyer,to head the new agency(机构). “What we nee d is a wholly new kind of police force,〞he said. “Criminals today are smart. They use stolen cars and even planes to make their gateways. They have learned to open any lock, using advanced technology. We can’t beat them with old methods. We have to train officers to work scientifically. 〞Edgar Hoover quietly went ahead with his plans. He picked his men carefully. They had to be between the ages of twenty--five and thirty five. He wanted only men with good manners and good character. When working as his officers, they would have to meet all kinds of people. Hoover wanted men who could handle a teacup as well as a gun. But the FBI cannot help in every police problem. It can look into only certain crimes against the government. Solving all other crimes is the duty of local police forces.72.A man wanted by the FBI will find that money is.A.not at all useful.B.very helpful for a whileC.necessary for staying free D.important and useful73.Before he worked with the FBI,Edgar Hoover was aA.policeman B.lawyer C.teacher D.general74.The FBI was begunin order to.A.reduce crimesB.bring younger men into police workC.fight crimes scientificallyD.offer jobs75.A man who can“handle a teacup as well as a gun〞has both.A.courage and mannersB.strength and kindnessC.wisdom and energyD.ability and humor参考答案56—60BBDAA 6l一65 BABAB 66—70CCBCA 71—75BBBCA。

AHow many times do you have to fail at something in order to su cceed? Did you know that Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times while trying to invent the light bulb? He certainly had a “learn an d do” attitude! He was able to turn each failed experiment into a successful way to invent the light bulb. So what can we learn from this? You can adopt the “fail forward” strategy too.In reality, none of us are failures. It’s true that we will experien ce times of defeat, problems, and disasters, but remember, eac h one of us is meant to succeed in life. However, we must cho ose our fate. Henry David Thoreau said, “Men are born to suc ceed, not to fail.”We can never be forced into having a happy and successful life. Whether or not you experience success or failure is complet ely controlled by what you think and do. You are the only one who can choose the thoughts that will keep you from achieving the abundant life and joy that you are meant to have. No matt er how difficult things may seem, say to yourself, “I choose to b e a happy and successful person.”Why do some people get what they want and others fail? I belie ve that getting what you desire in life takes planning, and it doe sn’t just happen by luck. So how do we plan for success? It has been proven that successful people do things more differ ently than unsuccessful people. They recognize the patterns o f success and follow them; one of those patterns is planning. They plan what they think and do, which sets them apart. The y know exactly what they desire, have an intelligent plan for gett ing it, and then work their plan. They know what success will c ost them in terms of time, energy, and results, and they devote t he right resources toward making their plans happen.56.The writer refers to Thomas Edison to .A.introduce his inventionB.put forward the topic of the textC.praise the inventorD.show the way to success57.What Henry David Thoreau said implies that .A.everyone is able to be a successB.most people lack the confidence to succeedC.everyone can do nothing but succeed in his lifeD.no one can succeed without difficulty and suffering 58.What is stressed in Paragraph 3?A.You can have a happy life by chance.B.Your thoughts destroy your happy life.C.You are sure to experience hardship in your life.D.Your life is controlled by your attitude and your actions.59.The main idea of the last two paragraphs is that .A.planning plays an important role in successB.successful people differ from unsuccessful onesC.successful people have many patterns of successD.devoting the right resources can help reach one’s goal 60.Which of the following would match the text?A.All roads lead to Rome.B.Think twice before you act .C.No pains, no gains.D.Failure is the mother of success.BWould the world be more peaceful if women were in charge? A challenging new book by the Harvard University psychologist St even Pinker says that the answer is “yes”.In The Better Angels of Our Nature, Pinker presents data showi ng that human violence, while still very much with us today, has been gradually declining. Moreover, he says, “over the long s weep of history, women have been and will be a peaceful force . Traditional war is a man’s game: tribal women never band to gether to attack neighboring villages.” As mothers, women ten d to maintain peaceful conditions in which to bring up their child ren.Skeptics(怀疑者)immediately reply that women have not made war simply becau se they have rarely been in power. If they were empowered a s leaders, the disorder of the world would force them to make th e same warlike decisions that men do. Margaret Thatcher,Gol da Meir, and Indira Gandhi were powerful women; all of them le d their countries to war.But it is also true that these women rose to leadership by playin g according to the political rules of “a man’s world.” It was thei r success consistent with male values that enabled their rise to leadership in the first place. In a world in which women were in the majority of leadership positions, they might behave differen tly in power. So we are left with the broader question: does gender(性别)really matter in leadership? In terms of traditional opinion, vario us psychological studies show that men tend towards the hard power of command, while women are cooperative and naturally understand the soft power of attraction and persuasion. The key choices about war and peace in our future will depend not on gender, but on how leaders combine hard and soft powe r skills to produce smart policies. Both men and women will m ake those decisions.61.Which of the following does Pinker agree?A.Human violence has been increasing.B.Men play a vital role in traditional war.C.Women have not made war due to their powerlessness.D.Women prefer to take care of their babies at home.62.The author mentions Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir, and I ndira Gandhi to say .A.they were all women B.they also acted as leaders C.they were all heroes D.they also made war63.How did these women rise to leadership?A.By entering a famous university.B.By following valu es similar to men’s.C.By showing their good character.D.By playing politic al games.64.In terms of traditional opinion, .A.men prefer cooperationB.men are wiser than womenC.women know well about soft powerD.women are excellent leaders.65.What does the writer intend to tell us?A.War and peace depend on wise policies made by men or w omen.B.We had better choose women as our leaders if we want pea ce.C.Women are more likely to make smart policies than men.D.Me tend to lead their countries to war.CAnger at the practice of demanding dowries, which can lead t o violence against brides(新娘), has prompted a takeoff of “Angry Birds” called “Angry Brid e s” that aims to highlight the illegal practice still prevalent in ma ny South Asian countries.Dowries-such as jewelry, clothes, cars and money-are traditionally given by the bride’s family to the groom(新郎) and his parents to ensure she is taken care of in her new h ome.The custom was outlawed more than five decades ago. Ridley, who’s been a foreign correspondent, a zoologist, a n economist, and a financier, brings a broad view to his sunny o utlook.“People say I’m bonkers to claim the world will go on g etting better, yet I can’t stop myself, ” he says. Read on to see how Ridley makes his case.Compared with 50 years ago, when I was just four years old, th e average human now earns nearly three times as much money , eats one third more calories, and can expect to live one third l onger. In fact, it’s hard to find any region of the world that’s wo rse off now than it was then, even though the global population has more than doubled over that period.City citizens take up less space, use less energy, and have less impact on natural ecosystems than country livers. The world’s cities now contain over half its people, but they occupy less th an 3 percent of its land area. There are also signs, says Professor Martin, that an unusually large number of such children are mentally affected. The professor says,“It’s true,my personal feeling is that children should stay in one school. But our findings are based on research and not on any personal feelings. ”Captain Thomas James,an Army lecturer for the past 20 years and himself a father of two, said,“I’ve never heard of such rubbish. Taking me for example. no harm is done to the education of my children, who change schools regularly—if they keep to the same system,as in our Army schools. In my experience—and I’ve known quite a few of them—Army children are as well adjustedas any others,if not more s o. What the professor doesn’t appear to appreciate is the fact that in such situation children will adapt much better than grown—ups. "When this reached Professor Martin,he said that at no time had his team suggested that all children were backward or mentally affected in some way,but simply that in their experience there was a clear tendency.“Our findings show that while the very bright children can deal with regular changes without harming his or her general progress in studies, the majority of children suffer from constantly having to enter a new learning situation”.64.Professor’s Martin’s report suggests that.A.it may not be good for children to change schools too oftenB.parents should not move around the countryC.changing schools is the reason of children making slow progressD.more and more children are mentally affected65.According to the passage,Professor Martin's personal feeling .A.is the opposite of what his report has shownB.is in a way supported by his researchC.has played a big part in his researchD.is based on the experience of his own children66.From the passage,we can conclude that Captain James’ children .A.have been affected by changing schoolsB.go to ordinary state schoolsC.can get used to the Army school educationD.discuss their education regularly with their father67.About children and grown—ups,Captain James says that children .A.are generally poorly—adjusted B.are usually less experiencedC.can adapt much more easily D.can deal with changes quicklyDLanguage is a major problem for the European Union(EU). The agreement or treaty(条约)which created the organization that eventually became the EU,the Treaty of Rome, stated that each country’s language must be treated equally. The 0riginal six countries had only three languages between them:French,German and Dutch/Flemish. With 12 languages, there are 132 possible “translation situations” that might be needed. It is often difficult to find people inthe right place at the right time who can translate from(for example)Danish into Greek,or Dutch into Portuguese,at a high professional standard. 68.What’s the main purpose of this passage?A.To give a solution to a problem.B.To find out a problem and show how severe it isC.To criticize the European Union for inefficiencv(低效).D.To show that the problem cannot be solved.69.According to the writer, the use of English in contacts among EU officals has .A.angered the officials who don’t speak EnglishB.lessened the number of official languagesC.reduced the effect of the problemD.been supported by powerful member countries70.The writer mentions“Danish into Greek”as an example of.A.a situation that might be difficult to deal withB.a situation that occurs oftenC.one of the 12 situations that requires an interpreterD.languages easily being interpreted71.The writer suggests that if the number of official languages was reduced,.A.the EU would not know which official languages to chooseB.countries whose languages were not used officially would be unhappyC.only easy languages would be used officiallyD.the smaller member countries would be pleasedE“Wanted by the FBI. ”To the murderer,or the bank robber, these are the most frightening words in the world. “What we need is a wholly new kind of police force,”he said. “Criminals today are smart. They use stolen cars and even planes to make their gateway s. They have learned to open any lock, using advanced technology. We can’t beat them with old methods. Wehave to train officers to work scientifically. ”Edgar Hoover quietly went ahead with his plans. Solving all other crimes is the duty of local police forces.72.A man wanted by the FBI will find that money is .A.not at all useful.B.very helpful for a whileC.necessary for staying free D.important and useful73.Before he worked with the FBI,Edgar Hoover was aA.policeman B.lawyer C.teacher D.general74.The FBI was begun in order to .A.reduce crimesB.bring younger men into police workC.fight crimes scientificallyD.offer jobs75.A man who can “handle a teacup as well as a gun” has both .A.courage and mannersB.strength and kindnessC.wisdom and energyD.ability and humor参考答案56—60BBDAA 6l一65 BABAB 66—70CCBCA 71—75BBBCA。

高三英语12月份百题精练(1) 英语试题 第三部分:阅读理解(共20小题;每小题2分,满分40分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。 A In 1960 Khrushchev headed a group to visit Indonesia and was warmly treated by his hosts. Once in Jakarta the hosts treated the guests to a special fruit, the durian. President Sukarno picked one, took a bite and handed it to Khrushchev. Just then, Khrushchev noticed that all the Indonesians present were staring at him, whispering. Obviously something funny was going to happen. Puzzled, he took over the fruit and immediately a very terrible smell attacked his nose, which nearly made him sick. Being a good guest, he braced himself up and took a small bite with great care. To his surprise, he found the fruit to be uncommonly delicious. He was so impressed by this strange fruit that he decided to let his colleagues (同事) in Moscow have a taste of it too. So he sent by air one share for each member of the Presidium. The plane was to pass New Dehli and Kabul and Khrushchev didn’t forget his friends in India and Afghanistan. He gave orders that Prime Minister Nehru and the king of Afghanistan should each have a package. When Khrushchev returned to Moscow, his colleagues all thanked him for his kind gifts, but at the same time they pointed out that either because the plane must have been delayed on the way or because of some other reasons, all the fruit had gone bad. They had to throw them away because they gave out an awful smell. Later Khrushchev received similar messages of thanks from his friends in India and Afghanistan, only the messages were more skillfully worded. 56. What did Khrushchev notice when Sukarno presented a durian to him? A. The fruit had a terrible smell. B. He became the centre of the people’s attention. C. He was made fun of by the Indonesians. D. There was something wrong with his nose. 57. Which of the following can describe the special fruit? A. Ugly-looking but extremely tasty. B. Unpleasant to nose but delicious to mouth. C. Uncommonly delicious and sweet. D. Not only delicious but also good-looking. 58. Why did Khrushchev decide to send durians to his colleagues? A. He wanted to make fun of them. B. To show his kindness and consideration. C. To see whether his colleagues would like the taste of them. D. He was impressed by the fruit, so he wanted his colleagues to taste it too. 59. What can we infer from the passage? A. The fruit durian is uncommonly delicious but easy to go bad. B. All delicious fruits can be accepted at once by various people. C. His colleagues and friends didn’t know the taste of the fruit. D. One man’s meat is another man’s poison. B If US software(软件) companies don’t pay more attention to quality, they could kiss their business good-bye. Both India and Brazil are developing a world-class software industry. Their weapon is quality and one of their jobs is to attract the top US quality specialists whose voices are not listened to in their country. Already, of the world’s 12 software houses that have earned the highest position in the world, seven are in India. That’s largely because they have used new methods American software specialists refused to use. For example, for years, quality specialists, W. Edwards Deming and J.M. Juran had tried to persuade US software companies to change their attitudes to quality. But their quality call mainly fell on deaf ears in the US--but not in Japan. By the 1970s and 1980s, Japan was taking its market share with better, cheaper products. They used Deming’s and Juran’s ideas to bring down the cost of good quality to as little as 5% of total production costs. In US factories, the cost of quality then was 10 times as high: 50%. In software, it still is. Watts S. Humphrey spent 27 years at IBM heading up software production and then quality assurance(保证). But his advice was seldom paid attention to. He retired from IBM in 1986. In 1987, he worked out a system for assessing(评估) and improving software quality. It has proved its value time and again. For example, in 1990 the cost of quality at Raytheon Electronics Systems was almost 60 % of total software production costs. It fell to 15% in 1996 and has since further dropped to below 10 %. Like Deming and Juran, Humphrey seems to be winning more praises overseas than at home. The Indian government and several companies have just founded the Watts Humphrey Software Quality Institute at the Software Technology Park in Chennai, India. Let’s hope that US lead in software will not be eaten up by its quality problems.
